A child's bedroom furnished entirely with those aesthetic beige instagram mom sad beige wooden toys for sad beige organic children, including a little ball pit in all the shades of brown, white, grey, beige and greige, but the owner doesn't have kids. It's all for the cats.
"They can't tell because they're colourblind", the owner explains, "and also very dumb."
Childrenâs sad beige room but the rest of the house is very colorful and eclectic. Thatâe just the kind of thing the kid likes and their parents respect that
Someone asked me a while ago if I still had a photo of the worst sink I had ever seen while apartment hunting in Los Angeles. I assumed I deleted it so I didn't answer the ask and now it's gone, but as it turns out, yes, I do still have a photo of it.
impressive! it's ugly, impractical, gets water everywhere, makes too much noise, and the quote with shit kerning says you don't think music is even real
Because Tumblr is very English speaking and some ppl like France a little too much I just want to remind you of a few things:
- France abolished the Code Noir 2 months ago. That law project that said hey you can enslave, mutilate, kill, cross breed, etc. black people at will bc they're not people they're property ? Yeah. Abolished 2 months ago. We are in July 2026.
- the last human zoo closed its doors in 1994 in France due to social pressure. Not bc they were running out of business, no. Ppl still visited that place until it closed its doors. No, it was bc (black) French people were fed up. That human zoo was specialized in displaying black (presumed Congolese) people in fake huts in enclosures, for white entertainment.
- now while this might no longer be the case, when I was growing up, I went to a French school (as in. It was an international French School w the French flag n all) and the way we were taught French geography was that France has the biggest and largest access to the sea in the world. And they'd show us a map of France and its colonies around the world. It's all occupied indigenous lands. I don't know if they still teach that. I hope not. But they absolutely did until I graduated high school in 2017. Again, I write this on July 21st 2026, for the record.
Anyways that's all I have for now. Y'all don't hate France enough. Y'all need to hate France more.
My boss was like âDo you have any idea how much money weâre losingâ like who cares, itâs not like they would give it to me otherwise
Have our investors tried making coffee at home and not eating out so much?

I think that part of what irks me about AI being used even for "small" stuff like meme graphics (aside from all the larger problems obviously) is like.... the time spent on it was part of the humor. "this is a silly inconsequential joke but I had to stop everything and spend 5 minutes making it" was, at least for me, part of the joke. Someone really took time out of their day to make me look at something silly they took time out of their day to make. Now it's like someone took time out of my day to make me look at something no one even made. Stop wasting my time if you aren't wasting yours too.
There's a fascinating phenomenon that isn't unique to tumblr, but which I have certainly seen here a lot, which I'm going to call the Default Assumption of Incompetence. It's when somebody has the baffling habit of always starting from the assumption that other people do not know anything about anything, or at least that having more knowledge than the assumer is extremely rare and statistically unlikely. To do this, they will frequently go out of their way to ignore context clues that indicate otherwise, or in some cases the assumer simply doesn't know enough about the subject at hand to be able to estimate whether or not this person knows what they are doing.
The assumer will see a social media post about someone's mushroom harvest, which clearly only contains exactly two distinct kinds of mushrooms, which the poster has identified and correctly named in the post itself, and the assumer will feel compelled to warn the forager to be careful out there! Some mushrooms are poisonous and they should be very careful to only pick ones they can identify! The assumer, who has ignored the fact that the poster did identify both of the mushroom species they had picked, and can most likely be trusted to do so in the future as well, has naturally assumed that the person showing off the results of their latest mushroom haul must have been obliviously picking them at random like an unsupervised toddler who is lucky to be alive.
If someone makes a post talking about how they just got a new job as a bus driver, the assumer might swoop in to warn them that driving a bus is extremely dangerous! It's so dangerous that it's literally illegal to do that unless you have a specific special training for doing that! Even a normal driver's license isn't good enough, you need a special license for it! And when the person who just got hired as a bus driver verifies that yes, they know that, they do have the license to drive a bus, and that they wouldn't have even hired someone who doesn't. The first question of the job interview was about making sure that they have a valid license for driving this type of vehicle.
"Well how was I supposed to know that?" is the assumer's standard answer to being corrected. Not embarrassed or apologetic, only defensive and insulted, as if the other person here is the one being unreasonably rude for implying that it was stupid of the assumer to assume that someone who just got a job driving a bus might not know how to drive a bus.
This kind of thing isn't necessarily about being arrogant and assuming that everyone else is stupid. It's about not assuming that everyone is smart and knowledgeable.
You see this a lot in tech support. Everybody hates those basic questions like "Have you tried turning it off and on again?" It feels ridiculous and condescending both to the person being asked and the person asking, and you honestly just want to skip it because surely nobody would bother calling tech support waiting without checking something so basic?
...and then you get that call. The one where you spend twenty minutes troubleshooting only to figure out that not only haven't they tried turning it on and off again, the device isn't even plugged in. After that, you always ask.
Somebody posts about picking mushrooms. Did they correctly identify the species? Or did they just get very, very lucky? Emergency rooms (and funeral homes) have seen a lot of people come through who were very confident in their mushroom identification skills.
I'm sure your bus driver example was intended to be an exaggerated strawman, because obviously nobody would hire someone to drive a bus without making sure they're qualified, right? You can totally just assume that from context clues.
Encounter this kind of thing enough times, and you stop assuming that people know what they're doing. Instead of getting offended that some stranger didn't automatically know how skilled you are, maybe take a moment to appreciate that they were looking out for you -- even if it wasn't necessary.
That's a valid point, but even coming from that perspective, I think it's still not a reasonable response. Someone stupid enough to go randomly picking mushrooms they don't know, has no idea that driving a bus requires a special training you can't just intuitively guess, or thinks they can just DIY electric installment stuff without at least checking beforehand whether they can do that, should simply die as the consequence of their actions.
So, tech support is very explicitly different in a very key way: they have asked for help.
The fact that someone, somewhere, has found a way to do things that make literally no sense, is not an argument for treating everybody like they're about to make the stupidest possible decision at all times.
The examples given were also very specifically about the explainers very clearly knowing less than the person they're talking to/at.
Not being able to discuss literally anything without being talked down to, leading to feeling the need to include giant paragraphs of asides that will get get ignored and/or picked apart, is *not fun*.
Sharing an experience in a social space is not a request for basic guidance on a topic you have in no way demonstrated any need for.
I think most people understand that if they responded that way irl chatting with someone they are vaguely friendly with, it would not go down well.
Context matters online as well.
I feel like this post, in which I made a joke that demonstrated an extraordinarily high level of knowledge of a hobby and received people âcorrectingâ me, is a great demonstrator of the low-stakes version of this behaviour.
If youâre excited to share knowledge, then you can politely reach out your hand to share, rather than instantly assuming the other person is in need of correction or lecturing.
This will also spare you from the tremendous embarrassment of correcting your superior.
This is an anti-despair checkpoint! You must share something you're looking forward to before scrolling on.
Marylanders donât say hi hello how are you my name is they just try to kill you with their car. which is of course a great honor in their culture
In Northern Virginia the country of my birth people kill you with their car because you deserve it. sic semper tyrannis
i love the point in the heroâs journey where he gets bent over and railed until he cries
Donât leave this in the tags
u fools. u amateurs. "Climax" is not itself a stage in the hero's journey! I would suggest "Atonement with the Father" if he's saying Daddy while he gets railed, "Meeting with the Goddess" if he's saying Mommy, or "Refusal of the Return" if he's just saying don't stop don't stop don't stop

QPR bloodymary where Grace hates public displays of affection and complains about it constantly. Then he apologizes to Simon for hating it and all Simon says is âwhat why?? Itâs gross. people shouldnât be doing thatâ
There is a hypocritical side of Grace that could kiss Simon for saying that. They talk shit about couples all the time now.
QPR bloodymary where Simon generally doesnât care about ever having a ârealâ romantic relationship and just likes hanging out with Grace and living in a house together where they can plant a garden and watch the same movies over and over again.
People ask âwhy donât you just date? when are you going to actually date?? Canât wait for the wedding announcementâ and neither one of them care about that.
QPR bloodymary where Grace gives Simon flowers a lot not out of anything romantic but because Simon just REALLY likes flowers.
"rocky would hate stratt because she hurt his bestie" plausible, even likely. "rocky wouldn't hate stratt because he understands the stakes of needing to save the actual world" nuanced, intellectually stimulating. "stratt would hate rocky because her ex wife whom she killed is happier with him" intriguing, avant-garde.
#7 billion fucking people on earth weren't enough but you'll die for the alien. sure. no yeah. sure.
get rid of bc/ad and bce/ce and make year 0 the start of the universe. 13,800,004,724 wasnt my year but i think 13,800,004,725 is going to go well
The notes are broken. This is what tumblr is all about apparently.
THE NOTES ARE BROKEN! This has been reblogged so many times, Tumblr just shrugged and said âinfinityâ
Me trying to say something to my partner about some cool fanart I just saw on my dash.
Him: back up back up, what the FUCK is Mouse Effect.
Lizardsex I love you...
The burning question of course is whether everyone is mice, or just the humans. Like are the salarians little frogs or is it Mice and Mice With Blue Tentacles???
sorry im absolutely too floored by the fact you just called me 'lizardsex' to give you an answer
... I see now your name is probably Lizards Exposed and not in fact Lizard Sex Posed.

More utah! a YCH comm
trans poc, please i beg of you get transition inspo of people with your ethnicity
i was incredibly dysphoric about my round face and softer features until i started looking at the faces of hispanic men and realized that those features werenât feminine at all, they were ethnic features white supremacy had conditioned me to see as less masculine
your ethnic features are beautiful, and you do not need to look european to look masculine or feminine
