Buggy dudes.
bro i LOVE indigenous fusion music i love it when indigenous people take traditional practices and language and apply them in new cool ways i love the slow decay and decolonisation of the modern music industry
I WILL !!! I WILL DO THAT
some of my favourite indigenous artists, in no particular order:
Inuit artists:
the jerry cans (esp their album Inuusiq)
beatrice deer
twin flames
Māori artists:
jordyn with a why
Indigenous australian artists:
tilly tjala thomas (i particularly love ngai yurlku nhiina)
kardajala kirridarra (srlsly check out ngajabu (Grandmother's Song))
i've also heard good things abt Baker Boy, but i haven't checked out his stuff yet
Another one for Inuit artists is Piqsiq! Two sisters who’ve been doing traditional throat singing since they were kids. They make some really gorgeous, eerie, atmospheric stuff. Highly recommend watching this video of them performing live a cappella using a looping machine, because they might be the coolest people on the planet actually
(Jo March nearly in tears voice) women,,,,
For anyone into North Asian and Central Asian folk music, there's this incredible Siberian folk-pop band called Otyken! The group is mostly women and they're from multiple indigenous groups in Siberia, with songs being sung in their range of different languages. They're so much fun and their music videos are amazing!
i'll go ahead and recommend The Halluci Nation (formerly known as A Tribe Called Red), an EDM group from First Nations Ontario that do really cool fusions of First Nations music with dubstep, moombahton, and hip hop.
I really really really appreciate people who share videos on posts like these, because almost without a doubt every time I love the music but I’ve never got the spoons to click on links and look through a bunch of music or worse google the artist I always end up too overwhelmed to start and I hate that
Haven't seen Belle Sisoski here yet so here we go: she's the current Artist of Year for BURO impact Awards. She's from Malaysia and knows how to play an insane amount of ethnic instruments and mixes them with her own voice. She does covers and her own songs, mixes ethnic instruments with Techno and shows the process. And she's also a live DJ at 19!
And one of her own:
Oh and of course there's also the HU and Bloodywood for people who like more rock and metal mixed in:
1876 is a Pow Wow punk rock band from Portland, Oregon
Supaman, an Apsáalooke rapper who's really popular in Montana music circles. He samples and loops traditional music and performs in full regalia!
Alien Weaponry, Māori metal from Aotearoa (New Zealand!). Their bass player Tū does a lot of videos talking to other Māori creatives as well, which is pretty neat.
Highly recommend Elisapie, a Inuk singer-songwriter from Salluit, Nunavik. Based in Tio’tia:ke (Montreal).
Here's her bandcamp page and youtube page, and two videos that hooked me.
Uummati Attanarsimat (cover of Heart of Glass)
Qimmijuat (cover of Wild Horses)

Thank you! Just took care of it via web browser:
Because it's not bad enough that Peter Thiel of Paypal infamy created Palantir and weaponizing online surveillance for governments and law enforcement, but we have to hold the line against giving our data away.
I would jump from Paypal entirely and just use credit/debit cards for online transactions, were it not for the 3-3.5% 'convenience' fees VISA tacks on for using them. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Rieu and Kayem, aristocratic hobgoblins, leaving the northern city of Port Verge in early morning snowfall, after a weeks-long bloody civil war ravaged the port and destabilized the area. They're each casually carrying their own very heavy, decorated trunks packed with travel clothing and valuables.
This is a revised version of a previous drawing of the two noble hobgoblins I had done a couple of years ago. It was fine but could be better. Having watched fashion history on YT and IG, I realized the two nobles would have much better attire than I had given them originally. Also, I need more active poses with my character portraits, so I have them walking along a street, talking casually to each other as they shoulder their very heavy trunks, paying no attention to the blood spilled on the cobblestones which is being covered up the snow.
Rieu has a reddish-brown outfit with flaring garments, gold decorations, and a fur lined hat and overcoat, while Kayem favors a sleek lavender suit with flaring bell-bottom pants, a voluminous purple-gray cloak, silver chains and rings, and pale yellow accents.
Their trunks also reflect differences in style - Rieu likes a solid, angular wood trunk with engravings, brass fittings, and dark iron cornerguards. Kayem likes a rounded wooden truck, stained purple, reinforced with metal bands, and decorated with pewter metalwork.

Meta doesn't want you to know about Sarah Wynn-Williams book Careless People. So much so they got the courts involved so she can't promote herself. Would be a shame if a bunch of people not tied up in court promoted it for her…
A Cautionary Tale of Power, Greed, and Lost Idealism
A real shame for an interesting book not to get promoted.
The Soundeater, a demon toad
The Soundeater is a large 8' tall demonic toad with flesh resembling rocky stone. It has compound eyes like a dragonfly, with itty bitty little arms to work the eyelids - how else can a demon blink? Its front legs are multiple cockroach arms. Whenever its mouth is open, all sound around it for 30 feet vanishes. It moves slowly, but it can eat people. It's unclear if it digests them, or just holds them inside until they die of thirst?
A farewell card for a coworker.
In a move of remarkable foresight, a coworker left work this week, moving on to greener pastures. They're a great person, I'll miss them considerably, so I made a pop-up farewell card for their last day.
The card turned out remarkably well - I made several draft versions and tested out folding techniques before committing to the final copy. (Notes to my later self: (1) fold the paper both ways to reduce crinkling on the heaviest folds and corners; (2) make sure there's extra paper to accommodate the bulk of a fold; (3) draw before folding. Once folded, the paper is too bumpy and affects the line quality).
Chuffed as I was with the card, it was rather small and plain on its own. Feeling that was just not good enough, I decided at the 11th hour to make a soft cover enclosure with an inside pocket to hold the card. All the lessons that a co-worker whose super skilled at paper craft and book making actually paid off. The papers were lovely textured remnants that I'd had been saving for some occasion, and it's all held together with lots of double-stick tape. Glue would have taken too long to dry and warped/distorted the paper. Despite being an unplanned effort, the enclosure came out halfway decent!
If I had left myself more time, simple fills with colored pencils would have been a nice addition. Woulda could shoulda. It's good for what I did.
Kleegrut Ootah, ogre mage.
Redid the rust drake (top) to look actually rusty and more drake like. No one knows much about them, but it's thought they're actually iron drakes that suffered some ferric affliction or decaying curse that causes them to rust. They look like a jumble of rusting metal pieces until they move. One of their attacks is to spray opponents with rusty shrapnel that does damage and causes tetanus.
This is patterned off the Forgotten Realms version of drakes, which lack wings. This does have metal sheeting between its fore and back legs, because I thought that would be cool.
Merry Christmas Eve!

The metallic head of a hill giant, created in the late imperial Brutalist manner - sharp angles and severe, strong features, the abstract embodiment of the Empire of Giants brutal might and magical prowess to rule the world. The floating head is made of precious metals and minerals, and glows with powerful, ancient magics.
