every time the eastern US starts freaking out about smoke blowing in from canada i have to hold my tongue so badly because i’m genuinely filled w so much empathy for people experiencing heavy smoke from wildfires—it sucks! it hurts to breathe, and i don’t even have any respiratory conditions. and it’s scary to look at! and wonder about how it’s affecting you!!
it’s hard tho because the conversation always seems to skew in such a frustrating direction where 1. many people don’t seem to realize that the US also has lots of wildfires, even right now, 2. people are so irritated with how their life is affected that they become angry towards those losing their homes and 3. they’d lead you to believe that they’re the only people in north america who have ever had smoke blow in from another country? the worst smoke we get where i live is almost always from california, washington, etc. rather than other parts of british columbia. and again it sucks a lot to deal with, but as someone who was maybe 5km from having to evacuate from wildfires once (we were packed up and ready to go if needed), that feeling is just so terrifying that i can’t imagine ever seeing smoke and feeling irate towards the people in the cities and towns actually burning :/
anyway climate change affects us all, and it certainly doesn’t respect borders, hence why it needs a global solution 👍
Several wildfires are forcing members of a number of First Nations to flee their homes in northern Ontario.
“I had time to run home and pack a bag and get to the beach where the boats were waiting,” said a member of Namaygoosisagagun First Nation (Collins). “We literally had minutes to get on the boats and flee before it took our town. “Once we left my house finally after packing what I could in a pack sack, the fire was right behind our place. We had to run to the beach and once we got there, it was only moments before the fire had jumped over the (train) track and was coming for us.”
it has since been confirmed that namaygoosisagagun first nation has completely burnt to the ground. if you would like to help the community navigate an ongoing crisis, i urge you to donate to the anishinabek nation 7th generation, a registered charity seeking to improve the lives of first nations people. donations are going directly to members of namaygoosisagagun first nation.

Just your annual heads up, Northern Ontario is actively on fire with little resources from the provincial government to combat them. Over 144 fires on record, you've seen the fire from Armstrong and another from Collins, but several First Nations along the corridor have lost their homes and have been displaced. Please keep them in mind this season as the fires have devastated their homes and displaced them, some were evacuated to Niagara where they face indiscriminate racism.

I fell in love with the Habs during the playoffs and Ive been watching game replays from the season. Which games do you think are must watches?
HMMMM okay I’m biased towards my players (goalie lover, always been always will be) obviously and admit I didn’t watch as many games as I wanted before mid-January because Life got in the way (I’m in Europe so timezones sometimes prevent me from watching). I’m 100% forgetting some super important games I’m doing this off the dome BUT here are some chronologically ordered personal 2025-26 regular season favs

3. Do/did you or anyone close to you play hockey?
i don't but ive always wanted to do it. just too expensive :'D always joke with my parents that they should be happy i never got into being a goalie in hockey <- mainly plays defensive positions in almost all sports. maybe after ive figured out my schooling it's something i would want to look into as an active hobby. did skating as a kid though so ive got that hah!

7. Are you a fan of any fictional hockey media, or just the real thing?
i love fictional hockey media!!! but specifically ao3 works or fan teams lol. love scrolling through original works with the appropriate tags and binge reading and im always on the hunt for new fics. it's so fun seeing people create their own dynamics amongst players and even their own teams mhm
not really into hockey romance books as in the ones you'd get at the bookstore or library and all that. prefer slow burns or found family tropes to fast-paced single novel romances
18. Do you sacrifice sleep to watch games at late/early hours?
nope! west coast means games are either at 5 or 7 pm haha unless it's international games then those can be at odd times, but usually just means early mornings rather than late nights
19. Do you have a favorite ultra-specific hockey stat?
idk if im understanding the question right hah but over all, 25/26 canucks 3 game win streak against all of california hockey lives in my mind a lot (and is what pushed me to make a side blog and lb instead of staying as a lurker)
specific stat, +/- kind of irks me a bit when it comes to judging dmen, but the idea behind it as a stat in theory is nice. just wish we had more, you know?

1. How/when did you get into hockey?
hockeys been in my life since i was growing up bc it's hard to escape here (still remember 2011 and the watch party at my house. didn't watch it myself then bc i was a kid and my dad's friends were being too loud + drunk 😭 but yeah the aftermath in the city was not nice)
