The main part of the AU is going to be set in the 2029-30 season.

Will is obviously a girl dad to a sweet, energetic kiddo who loves pink and princesses and dinosaurs and hockey.

Will is not in the NHL & ultimately graduated from BC with his comms degree + has just relocated to San Jose to work for the Sharks’ front office PR team.

Mack, of course, is still Mack and went to BU for a season before going to the Sharks.

Without Will as his telepathic line mate, Mack is still a standout player, but his milestones may take slightly longer to achieve (the most notable one is that it takes him three seasons to break the Sharks point record, not two, but he does break the 100 point mark in his second season).

The other consequence of a no-Smitty Sharks roster is that it takes slightly longer to be playoffs contenders (they don’t make it in until 2028-29 & exit the first round in game 7) rather than clinging to a spot until the 2025-26 season is almost done.

Eky/Mack/Graf are the most frequent fliers on top line for this fictional iteration of the Sharks.

Greky and Samisa are kind of tied for the most popular Sharks fan ships in this AU, although Mack is the most frequently shipped member of the roster, period (likely because he’s the only one who hasn’t publicly been in a relationship lasting more than two or three months since he joined the team).
