Walk Into The Deep, Dark Sea (And Revel At What Life Could Be)
Rated T; No Archive Warnings Apply
Summary:
The heroes have been through a lot. Maybe they deserve a holiday? Just a day or two off, where they don’t have to worry about anything at all.

Legend stepped through the portal. Sheerow immediately set to describing their surroundings — sand, water, trees of the same type as had been at Wind’s house — but Legend didn’t need that to smell the salt on the breeze or hear the crashing of the waves.
“This one yours, Wind?” Wild asked as the magic of the portal winked out behind them.
There was a rustle as Wind moved, probably shaking his head, as he said, “No, it doesn’t look like any islands I recognise. The air smells wrong, too.”
“Well, it doesn’t look like any of the coasts of my Hyrule,” Wild said, “though I guess it could be an island I’ve never been to.”
“Sheerow?” Legend asked quietly, though not quietly enough to not be heard by the rest. They were used to him doing this by now. “You sense Rav?” He doubted it — the magic in the air didn’t feel right to him — but occasionally he was wrong.
Sheerow stretched out her magic, looking for Ravio the same way she’d done when she was stealing his items during his quest. This time, though, nothing came of it. Sorry, sorry. She nestled back down in his hair, getting comfortable.
“Not my era,” Legend announced for everyone else’s sake, since they couldn’t understand Sheerow — something that still felt weird to him, as he’d been under the impression that it was the triforce that allowed him to understand her, and they’d all held that too.
“Between eras?” Four posited.
Something changed, though Legend couldn’t tell what it was.
“What, already?” Wind asked.
At Legend’s confused look, Twilight said, “It’s a portal. Right in front of us. I… thought you could sense them?” He asked the last part hesitantly, like he was worried about offending Legend.
“It’s not pulling at us like usual.”
“Another new Link?” Warriors asked. Legend shrugged.
Hello, I’m curious how do you think? Legend would’ve turned out if his adventures were in reverse 🔄
No there's a concept!
Now, the way I HC it, Legend's got 7 adventures under his belt: ALttP, OoS/OoA, LA, CoH, ALBW, and TFH.
If he started his adventures, at the same age (8-9) but with the Hytopian one, where he just needed to defeat a witch and save a princess from a curse that wasn't actually harming her, well, TFH would be the easy mode of heroing, and so he'd have been eased in gently to the life, rather than how it was in cannon with one of his most difficult ones being first! That would also mean, however, that it's a 10 year old Legend and Ravio who meet and save the world together, so Legend's early hero years would have been spent saving the world with companions who shared his same face, a lot!
CoH comes and, well, honestly, at that point, wee baby Legend (11) probably is beginning to wonder if he's following in the steps of Four because...companions who look like him? The descendant of Vaati? What's next, will he find the Four Sword? (Yes, actually).
Rather than trying to get home from his adventures though, LA takes place with a young Legend who's just setting out to explore the world, bright eyed and bushy tailed even after three adventures and ready for whatever will come. And then Koholint happens.
I don't think it makes a different what order the adventures are in, LA will still mess him up. But this time around, he doesn't have his mer curse yet, so he's stranded out at sea after LA with absolutely nothing working in his favor! Maybe this is where he gets;s picked up by the Skeleton Crew, who already know him somehow? (time travel, he hasn't lived it yet, but they have), and they take him as close to Labrynna as their curse will allow (Cap'n is cursed to never reach the shores of his home again, so...). This time around though, Impa would still be with Din, so Legend might stumble into Nayru all on his own, not bringing Veran to her as he goes, and perhaps it's Ralph instead who ends up being the unlucky puppet.
I think the Oracle games change a lot in this alternate universe. Legend's weakened and likely in shit shape after being stuck out at sea so long, and heartsick for all the people he thinks he's killed. He's not meeting Ralph's quips and barbs, he's not talking with him at all. He's also struggling physically because, again, being stranded without food or water, under the hot sun, will mess a person up, especially without that handy mer curse that would've made him able to eat raw fish and injest sea water safely. Additionally, he'd be newly acquiring most of his rings and magical items that aren't weapons, which does make a difference significantly, and would likely help compensate for his health.
Ralph and he would probably be more reliant on each other. Legend's already a storied hero by this point, with three known adventures under his belt that have had time to be told to others while he was at sea. Ralph already knows who he is and there's probably some begrudging respect for him, especially when he sees Legend actually struggling. they help each other, kinda rely on each other. Ralph, unlike Ravio, is the kind of friend who'd push Legend regardless of his grief, a person who challenged him instead of stopping to comfort, so Legend would probably harden some in that time, although not too much with Raven there to remind him of what matters most: helping people and being someone they can find hope in.
The Legend who'd come to Holodrum after is already a veteran, he's got the worst fight of his life already done and over with, because, let's be real, Veran, Twinrova and Ganon in one day is worse than anything else he ever does, so the Battle of the Black Tower takes the cake for Legend's hardest fight. With this in mind, Onyx isn't very hard, but the traveling..... I think one of the reasons our Legend turned out like he did is because, after LA, he stays in Hyrule for the most part and is working in familiar lands, so the wonder isn't as great. In Holodrum, I think legend would be revitalized, come to appreciate anew all that made him love adventuring to begin with. Labrynna would too, of course, but Ralph is a more serious companion, whereas Legend's animal crew in Holodrum are whimsy and bizarre. I think each of them would help him in a big way too, Moosh helping him learn to take his time and rest, Ricky making him see the world through new eyes again, and Dimitri gentling him again (rescues do that to you, trust me). I think Holodrum would revitalize and restore him, and the Onyx fight would be, honestly, one of his easier ones.
And then he comes back to Hyrule just to learn that the advisor to the king has turned against him. He witnesses his dear uncle getting killed and, well, instead of being a scared little kid, he is a newly returned home veteran who now has his sights set on Aganim and will not stop for anything to take the guy down.
It would be...harder, I think, for him to be a bunny in this AU, since he's been fighting back his strength and skills for so long just to have it newly ripped away, rather than just having his fear and inability highlighted as in the world where he's still small when it first happens. I do think it'd remind him of Ravio though, and since he's had some experience with talking animals already, he'd try and use that knowledge to overcome and even use this form to his advantage. In this world, the rabbit might become, for him, just another tool, rather than a handicap as it is for our version of Legend. He'd probably approach it more like Twilight does, rather than being embarressed and ashamed of it.
If we go off the comics, he's probably already aware of most of the lore at this point in life. He knows about the prophecy, likely realized that, as the last of his line, it's about him, and understands the stakes but, also, has already fought Ganon, who's also already faught him back in Labrynna (400 years ago).
I feel like instead of being gullible to Ghanti (the fox thief), he'd play her in return. Maybe, as adults (16-17) their dynamic would play out more like a enemies to almost lovers sort of deal where she's still trying to kill him for his family, but also kinda flirting because he's pretty fine, okay?Meanwhile, Legend's already lost the love of his life, but he has had the chance to heal in some ways and while I doubt he's eager to find love again, I think this other version of him might entertain her to some extent, sort of a flirty but deadly back and forth between them through the adventure that neither intends to act on, but enjoy the thrill and energy of anyways. They're friends, and maybe, in this version, Ghanti doesn't immediately get jealous of Zelda the second she shows up, especially if Legend and Zelda know they're siblings already. This means she likely never scurries off and thus Aganim can't use her against Legend in the same way though he likely finds a different way to do it).
This whole adventure though, Legend would already be a veteran. One who's never touched the Master Sword, yes, but I think, in such a world, the claiming of and reforging of the blade is, for him, like the confirmation of what he's already known for a long time now, rather than some great revelation or something to make him question who he really is. It's the final piece of a puzzle that's about to be Aganim's undoing.
This Legend would be bolder, I think. he wouldn't be hiding from the knights, wouldn't need the guidance that a younger version of him did, and he's already got a name for himself in Hyrule, already has the respect of his people, so I doubt they'd be ratting him out or betraying him like they did to Canon Legend. he'd already know how to navigate dungeons, have some items that he'd need already and be able to knock them out faster, save the maidens, and hunt down Aganim.
I think the Palace of the Four Sword would still mess him up though. Like I said, in many ways, this version of Legend likely compares himself to Four in some ways, and the fact that he's been wielding Caladbolg (CoH sword) rather than the Master Sword all this time (first claymore main Link LOL) probably mimics how Four never carried the Master Sword, in his mind. Facing the guy, after a short stint as a blacksmith himself, after meeting his own dark self and befriending him, after knowing either dopplegangers or being split himself (your interpretation), the kinship is probably so much closer that, in many ways, it feels like fighting anotehr version of himself, rather than just one of his predecessors.
I think that fight would be the first thing to seriously faze him, honestly. He'd need a whole day to process it.
When t comes to Ganon though, it's not a scared kid who's coming at him, it's a tired veteran who just came back from a tour around the world where he caught off every monster under the sun. A veteran who wanted to come home to his uncle and have a rest before his next trip, but who didn't get to do that because Ganon decided to come back. This Ganon didn't ruin his life, he ruined his summer vacation, but considering how badly Legend wanted that vacation, and how much bolder he is as an adult, that's the more terrifying thing, really. Especially because Ganon remembers this kid, and the fact that he looks about the same age means he's just as strong as when he sealed Ganon back for that 400 years and....well, Gaon knows he's toast. he still fights, but it's with the desperation of someone who knows they're losing but has to try anyways because being sealed again, for who knows how long, potentially just to face this kid AGAIN after THAT, well, he does his best.
Legend wins, obviously. Wins and acquires the Triforce for the first time and makes his wish and restores Hyrule and gets his uncle back, and goes home with him to finally have that vacation, drink some cider and talk about his travels and adventures.
And then a portal opens up, right in front of their house.
Legend is pissed as a pufferfish when he walks through, fully intending to speedrun whatever is next because he wants his vacation, darn it!
Just to meet the LU heroes.
They'd see him a lot like they do Time, where he looks young but acts older and while he's still jaded, it's not in the snarky, sassy, scared kid who's trying to make himself look big way that our Legend does it. He's calmer, I think, and more calculating and reserved. He and Time are rivaling anomalies that take the greatest pleasure in trying to out-do each other with being cryptic. "Oh, you fought the moon old man? How's the Moon Goddess (Lolia) doing? It's been a bit since I've seen her last!" or Wild says something about being dead and Legend just makes a comment about he could use a good stint being dead right about now, just long enough to nap at Death's feet for an hour or so before he has to come back, before then going on to ask if anyone knows where they are like he didn't just slide to being undead in some capacity.
Time says something about the Fierce Deity and Legend, who got that mask in his first adventure and likely has been using it since, just kinda nods along and then asks the mask (not Time) some kind of question, and then goes on to have a full blown conversation with it that seems entirely one sided to the rest.
This Legend is asking the trees for directions and discussing the lay of the land with the animals that they pass, like it's normal. He doesn't care if the rest think it's weird and he's not making a show of it either, he just does this, he always has. He's matter of fact with his skills and not nearly as secretive or untrusting (because he wasn't betrayed at every turn in his early days, just the latter ones). He makes an effort to be close to Four, but never lets on why. He's less wary of and contemptuous of knights, and while he's still got that aggressive and occassionally antagonistic relationship with Warriors, it's more akin to two knights messing with each other. Because this Legend never had a reason to hate knights. His Uncle was alive through his adventures and, while, yeah, ALBW sees the knights turning on him, I think Aflon would help young Legend understand that it's the spell, not them, that is making them act that way, and knowing that he comes from knights, but not being pressured to become one by his grandfather because OoS hasn't happened yet, means that maybe this Legend is a knight at this point himself, rather than being against them.
(Also, side note, but I just realized that this AU would have Aflon alive during ALBW and thus all but adopting Ravio in Legend's absence, protecting and caring for him while Legend runs around and handles everything, and I just know he was sobbing his bloody eyes out when they had to say goodbye to one another at the end).
Anyways, I think the Legend this produces is still very similar to ours, because at his heart, he's the same person, but his childhood isn't as hectic or traumatizing, and while he still had all the same things happen, the fallout afterwards is different and impact thus lessened. He's more grounded, more stable, calmer, but also more comfortable in himself and with others. He holds them at an arms length, because he's still lost a lot of people from an early age, but he still holds them rather than pushing them away.
I think he and Wild would get along the best in this version. They've both had to remake themselves after an accident that should have killed them and which took people they loved away. They both grew up into the hero's mantel from knightly houses, but the journey wasn't linear by any means. Still they're both eager to explore their worlds despite this, and may or may not be stealing hearts wherever they go as they do so.
.....
This is a lot longer than I thought it would be, but I hope the answer is satisfactory? Happy to touch on Reverse!Legend more if you'd like, because this concept is now living rent free in my head!

@retrowrimay prompt 7: Soulmate AU
Summary: Everyone has a soulmark. They get darker the closer you are to your soulmate. Link’s soulmark is bright white.
The entire story is below the cut. It will be posted on Ao3 in the future:
Link’s bird-shaped soulmark appeared at the top of his left arm when he was four. The day should have been a celebration.
Most people’s soulmarks were grey before they found their soulmate. They darkened the closer you were to them. People who had found their soulmates were marked in ink-black. Sometimes Link would see them in town — matching roses on wrists above intertwined hands, the lizard peeking out from behind the innkeepers ear a copy of the one covering her husband’s knuckles.
Not everyone pursued their soulmate, though. Uncle had been ecstatic for his soulmate, Ayrin, when she married her childhood best friend when Link had been five. It was, admittedly, a rather boring wedding to Link (he hadn’t known either of the brides), but it was nice seeing Uncle so happy for his friend.
Link’s own soulmark was blinding white. It matched the icy snow that covered the ground during the long, cold winters and stood in stark contrast to his skin in the summer when he got tanned from helping Uncle with the orchard.
Uncle tried to tell him that his soulmark just meant he was destined to travel, but Link worried. How was he supposed to find someone who could live anywhere in the world but Hyrule?
---
When the Triforce sent Link to Holodrum, he was suddenly filled with hope. Finally, he was far enough from where he’d grown up in central Hyrule that he should see some darkening in his mark that he could follow. He glanced constantly at his arm as he travelled with Din, as he visited Subrosia, as he moved on to Labrynna to save Nayru. His hope dwindled as his soulmark stayed the same pale shade it had been his whole life.
When he got home to Hyrule, two more quests completed, he was filled with determination. There were only two more countries that bordered Hyrule.
He packed his bags and visited Calatia, but the mark stayed the same. He moved on.
One country to go, now. Surely — surely — his soulmate must be in Hytopia.
---
Link booked a ship along the North Sea back to Hyrule, a fourth quest under his belt. He’d given up. Either his soulmate lived in a country that didn’t border Hyrule — and Link would have no hope finding them if that were true; he’d already travelled far more than most people did in their entire life — or his soulmate was dead — his soulmark wasn’t the usual shade for a dead soulmate, but he’d only ever seen soulmarks for people who’d met their soulmate before they’d died. He wasn’t sure which outcome was worse, if it was better for there to be no chance of him finding them or just so small of a chance that it was functionally the same.
At least if they were dead, they wouldn’t be feeling the same about him. He hoped they weren’t looking (lie, deep inside he still begged to be found).
The ship was fine, sort of fun even. The captain was an older man who reminded him of Uncle. He claimed his true love was the sea, and even showed off his soulmark — three wavy lines. Link noticed that the edges of the mark were lighter than the middle — the sign of someone whose soulmate had died. He didn’t ask.
The rest of the crew were also more than happy to take Link under their wings and show him the ropes, both metaphorically and literally. Within a few days, he was clambering about the rigging with the best of them.
And then the storm hit.
The captain tried to keep Link inside and out of the rain, but it quickly became obvious that they needed his help. He scampered his way up to the crow’s nest to switch out with the lookout (his favourite job to do), who’d already been up there for 6 hours before the storm started and whose voice was starting to go out. Link shielded his eyes as best he could and started to call out to the captain.
---
The thing about lightning is that it likes to take the easiest path to the ground, and air is one of the hardest things for it to move through. Therefore, it likes to strike whatever is closest, which is almost always also whatever is tallest.
Link, standing at the top of a very tall mast in the middle of an open ocean, made a very good target.
It burned. Bright, hot, fiery pain filled him. The whole world was lit up white-gold. His chest stuttered. He couldn’t breathe.
He was gone before he hit the water.
---
Koholint was a strange place. Link loved it.
Somehow, they didn’t have soulmarks and soulmates. They hadn’t even heard of them. Link hadn’t known that was possible. The fact that his soulmark was so pale wasn’t weird to them; at least, not any weirder than him having one at all.
Importantly, Koholint also had Marin, which was the best part of the island. If Link could have picked his soulmate, she was who he’d have picked. Considering he’d given up on ever finding his soulmate, he basically could.
Link pulled his sleeve over his soulmark and decided to ignore it. Fated soulmate or not, he’d already found someone to spend his life with.
---
When Link got home, he spent a while crying and even longer just drifting uselessly in his own head. It took him a week to pull himself out of bed.
He finally worked up the energy to go shopping in the village — he couldn’t keep relying on gifts of pre-cooked meals from his neighbors. He was getting changed when he saw it.
His soulmark, still painfully pale against his skin.
He hated it.
He couldn’t have the person he was fated to love. He couldn’t have the person he’d chosen to love. Was he just destined to be alone for the rest of his life?
In a fit of anger, he covered the soulmark and promised himself to never look at it again. It had only ever brought him heartache.
---
When the strange purple man asked to move in, Link honestly couldn’t care less. He could already tell that this was shaping up to be yet another quest. The bracelet was, admittedly a bit weird, but, well, a gift was a gift, and Link could sense the magic sitting dormant inside of it even if he couldn’t tell what it did just yet.
He was off to save the kingdom. Again. And the princess. Again. The machinations of odd people in bunny costumes weren’t of great importance right now.
---
On second thought, Link took it back. He hated Ravio.
The stupid merchant’s stupid bird stole his items every time he passed out, and they were so expensive. He had to re-rent them often enough that it was hard to save up to buy them.
Link was seriously thinking of kicking him out of his house if he didn’t start paying rent soon.
He ignored how nice it was having someone to come home to, and the fact that Sheerow always made sure that he was somewhere safe before stealing his stuff. He didn’t appreciate either of those things. Not at all.
---
Link awoke to a burning pain in his left shoulder. Someone, or perhaps multiple someones, were talking above him, he wasn’t sure.
The glass rim of a bottle was pressed against his lips. He tried to squirm away, but his limbs didn’t seem to be working. He was forced to drink. The liquid in the bottle tasted like a health potion. The pain died down a bit, and sound cleared slightly.
Ravio was the one speaking, words going even faster than his usual frantic chatter. His accent was thicker than usual, too, adding a rolling lilt to his words, which were interspersed with Sheerow's answering worried tweets. Since when could he understand Sheerow’s tone?
Also, more importantly, how had he gotten here? The last thing he remembered was going through a dungeon, getting stabbed through the shoulder, and then nothing. How had he ended up at his own house?
“Wha’ ‘appen?” Link slurred.
Sheerow chirped like she’d been startled. Ravio made a similar high-pitched noise. “Oh, don’t talk just yet, Mr. Hero. You’re very injured. Yes, yes. Very injured. There’s way too much blood. You’re safe, by the way. Safe at home. But very injured. Don’t move.”
Ravio was rambling. Link had noticed that he did that when he got nervous or scared. He must have been either very nervous or very scared to ramble this much, though. That matched how much his body was shaking against Link’s side.
Despite his fearful shivers, Ravio’s final words were followed with him beginning to stitch up the hole in Link’s shoulder with surprisingly-steady hands. Link did his best to listen and not flinch.
He distracted himself by slurring out more questions. “How?”
“You appear to have been stabbed, Mr. Hero. Very badly, too.”
Link grunted to interrupt him. “How here?”
Ravio went quiet for a minute, though his hands continued his work. When he finally did speak, it was quiet. “Sheerow brought you here. You were… It was bad, Mr. Hero. I was worried you wouldn’t make it.”
Ice trickled down Link’s spine. Sure, he faced danger regularly, and lethal situations were par for the course of being a hero, but it was still scary to think that he might’ve died if it weren’t for Ravio and his stupid bird. It wasn’t the first time he’d gotten close — he was pretty sure that, if it weren’t for the Wind Fish’s involvement, he would’ve died during his return to Hyrule — but he usually had some sort of back-up, some potions or fairies or something.
This time, he’d had nothing. He’d promised himself to stock back up on fairies after that dungeon. He’d used his last two health potions earlier in the dungeon. He’d been surrounded by blood-thirsty monsters, with no way out but a tiny little bird.
Link was quiet as Ravio finished stitching his shoulder and bandaged it up. Ravio was also quiet, which was even worse than his usual annoying — comforting — rambling chatter. When Ravio was done, he helped Link sit up. Sheerow landed on top of his head and started preening his hair. Normally he’d be inclined to bat her off, but, considering he’d just had his life saved by the tiny bird, he let her stay for now.
Ravio studied Link. Link ignored him and studied his shoulder. The stitched were hidden under clean white bandages, but the bandages were tied competently and Link was pretty sure that Ravio knew what he was doing, for some reason.
Then Link noticed something. His left shoulder had been injured — the same one that his soulmark was on. Ravio had removed the covering he’d placed over it at some point before stitching him up. Link quickly looked away, dread filling him. The bandages wouldn’t cover the soulmark, and he didn’t want to see its icy-white reminder that he’d never be loved.
As he looked away, though, his eyes caught on something. No, it couldn’t be. Surely not, right? Slowly, hesitantly, he looked back at his arm.
The bird that had decorated his upper arm his whole life was pitch black.
Link stared at it in shock. He’d given up hope of it ever darkening even a smidge, of it ever becoming even a light grey, and here it was, dark as could be.
He quickly ran over a list of every new person in his life that could be his soulmate. There were a good few, as was common when he started a new quest. Still, the most important new person in his life was…
…Was Ravio. Ravio, who he’d started to suspect, based on his accent matching the locals, might be from Lorule.
Ravio being in a whole different dimension would definitely explain why his soulmark had registered him as being so far away.
Link’s head snapped up to stare at Ravio. Ravio squeaked. Sheerow, dislodged by Link’s quick movement, glid from Link’s head to Ravio’s hands, and he pulled her into his chest. Link blinked at the sight of the bird.
He looked back at his soulmark.
He looked back at Sheerow.
Had he had Ravio’s stupid bird plastered on his arm his whole life?!
He had, hadn’t he!
He couldn’t believe it.
He looked back at Ravio, who was still clutching Sheerow to his chest. “Thanks,” he said gruffly, ignoring his soulmate-revelation for now. After all, they’d have plenty of time while his shoulder recovered to talk about it.

WELL, I got the highest grade for my thesis and presentation, and a very nice review from my advisor that may or may not have made made me cry. Thank you guys for your patience and support, I feel like y'all played a major role in me staying motivated and not dropping out during that last year. Gotta figure out what to do next after 15 years of just studying... A terrifying thought but oh well
Now that I'm FREE and have some time for myself, I have a few practice shots planned, that's the first one! Wanted to work with perspective and depth, and let me tell you, those legs were a nightmare to draw. Also the apple was hanging from a thick branch originally but I wanted to spice it up so now there are LEAVES and MOVEMENT
Also I've found a toggle in tumblr settings that had been compressing my videos, so now everything's gonna be in full HD like it's SUPPOSED to be
On that note, I have a question: did my drawings become more (or less) saturated lately? I got a new monitor two months ago, which I'm still getting used to, and due to me being stubborn to get a high res monitor no matter what, it doesn't match my tablet anymore so I can't check colors on the big screen as I go.. so yeah, let me know if it's different
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
It took more than two hours for Legend to get Wild out of the forest. During that time, the kid managed to get two more sticks, half a dozen acorns, a bunch of mushrooms — including a weird blue-and-white one that he insisted was edible despite Legend’s concerns, though he wouldn’t say how he knew; Legend was pretty sure it was because he’d eaten one already but guessed (correctly) that Legend would be upset about him just eating random mushrooms without knowing that they were safe.
Finally, though, they exited the trees.
Wild looked at his sheikah slate again, and they weren’t far at all from the yellow dot. They were finally back on track to complete this quest.
---
The kid studied the pedestal. Unlike the last one, it had a hole in it. Suddenly, a monotonous voice spoke. Legend didn’t understand what the voice said, but it was very clear that Wild did. He put his slate into the hole in the pedestal, where it fit perfectly. The slate was flipped around gently, and then glowed orange. Wild leaned back, looking unsure, and Legend couldn't blame him.
The monotone voice spoke again, and then the ground beneath their feet started to shake. Legend dove for Wild and pulled him down. He curled himself over the kid and was relieved when he hung on rather than trying to get away. His stomach swooped as the ground beneath him moved.
Yes, the nine heroes of Hyrule have a buddy system. Twilight insists on this. Do you know the chaos that comes with them all being dropped in a Hyrule alone??? Because he does! He's the one who usually ends up tracking them down!
Wild unsupervised will either end up terraforming via explosions or acquiring a cult following. One time that following had been made up of Hylians. Another had been bokoblins.
Wind, in contrast to Wild, will instead end up joining a cult, of his own volition no less, only to completely destroy it in a matter of hours after being found. He will also know everybody by name and be recognized by every town's population in an eight mile radius.
Time, as much as he loves his mentor, will fall back on kokiri behaviors. Finding him involves a lot of pranks that he and the gaggle of children he inexplicably obtained at some point won't ever claim credit for.
Hyrule, without another of the chain to pull him along, will hunker down and trigger the most elaborate and anxiety-inducing game of hide-and-seek Twilight has ever had the displeasure of participating in. He hides so well he practically falls off the face of the Earth. One time, that was literal.
Legend, despite his pride and grumpy demeanor, will find himself adopted by the nearest elderly lady. He will become one with the town. He has always been there, everyone will say, and no one he asks will admit to the presence of a traveler of his appearance. Legend gets gifts of baked goods and the odd trinket, and if any other Link finds him before either himself or Time, he will bully them into also helping said elderly. Nothing else usually happens after that, because by that point Legend has a buddy and gets convinced to leave the town that's trying to absorb him into their community, much to the obliviousness of Legend himself.
Sky, on multiple occasions, went from "I found a lost child" to "This is my foster now" in the span of twelve minutes. He has also, on one very memorable occasion, wiped out several monster camps harrassing a town, killed some corrupted monster the locals claimed to be an evil god, and was then worshiped as a benevolent deity after returning with the thing's eye as proof. They built statues. The last time they visited said town the locals built him a church. Sky himself is still under the impression they made him mayor, not a god.
Four... Four does Four things without a buddy to ground him. Sometimes that's holing himself up in a library for two days without the poor librarian's knowledge. Sometimes that's wandering around in a way that makes him mistaken for a lost child taken by the fairies. Sometimes that's taking over the nearest blacksmith workshop and getting his nineteenth master's certificate.
Warriors, bless the man, will somehow end up with contradictory reputations everywhere he goes. The children and the elderly adore him, the middle-aged think he has the worst vibes imaginable. He'll be recognized simultaneously as a man of honor and a womanizer in the same village. He'll stop a thief in the streets, then turn around and end up arrested because someone framed him for property damage.
He himself is not immune to the insanity of being left alone to his own devices in an era not his own, according to the others. He's been told he has a tendency to avoid civilization unconsciously and was once the origin of a cryptid ghost story that gained oddly enthusiastic traction amongst the children.
