In canon, Legend started his adventures with ALTTP, but it wasn't very long before he got sent off to Holodrum and Labrynna for the Oracle adventures, during which time he didn't return home at all. It's during his return home that LA happens, and that means that, for 3-4 of his adventures, Legend was not living out of his house, but more on the road and in foreign lands. I think that he does tend to stay there for short spells while recovering between adventures (because he statistically would need SOME recovery time between them, considering how much fighting he does) but I don't think he likes it there.
Sort of bleeding into the Uncle Aflon stuff I've discussed here before, but Legend grew up on Orchard Hill with his uncle there with him, and while Aflon does come back at the end of ALTTP, he isn't ever seen again or even mentioned in any of Legend's other games or appearances, which seems to indicate that he stopped living at Orchard Hill for one reason or another. For this reason, I think that Legend no longer really thinks of the house as "home" anymore, and that's why he's allowed it to become so much like a storage facility like we see in the LU comic; because in a way, that fills the void of his uncle but also changes the place enough as to no longer make Aflon's absence as notable.
Also, even if Legend is known to be a guy who prefers to stay on the path, he IS still a wanderer at heart, and I like to think that his "home" isn't so much a place as the many, many people that he's formed connections with across the kingdoms. Gully, Bipson, Zelda, Sahasralah and his wife, the performing troupe, Ralph, Impa- those people are Legend's "home", not some house that he hasn't actually lived in for years.
I will backup this opinion with the panel from the Lon Lon arc:
Legend doesn't want a house, he wants to travel and explore, and when Wild brings up wanting one later down the line, Legend doesn't even make reference to the one he technically already has (which is a bit weird to me actually because in the early days of LU I'm pretty sure Ravio's arc came out around the same time as Malon's????)
Regardless, while Legend owns a house, I don;t think he views it as a home, and he clearly prefers his wanderer's lifestyle more. Snufkin mentality this one, and I love that for him :3
Question, where does Legend's apple orchard come from? I feel silly for asking, but I'm still learning about all of his games
It's not really present in the games, but the Akira Himekawa manga depicts Legend as having grown up on an apple farm. The apples actually play a minor role in the plot of the manga too! (That part is so important to me, you have NO idea!)
It's not technically cannon, but generally accepted as part of Legend's backstory for LU, since otherwise we have very little to go off of for his background and home.
I liked somebody else's comment about Ravio seeing Legend transformed for the first time. Thoughts? What if it was Ralph?
Personally? I think it's two very different reactions.
Ravio's first response is to coo and probably scoop him up like Sky did, calling him adorable and wanting to pet his ears (because who wouldn't? let's be real!) He's a bit surprised but doesn't really consider the implications of what being a rabbit means, he's just thrilled that they match now, and Legend is ALSO a bunny! This is amazing, Mister Hero! Oh my goodness look at your widdle paws!!!!!
He's insufferable about it, but just accepts it at face value as "Mister Hero turns into a bunny". After all, with the War o Eras being a thing he's probably heard Midna talk about her heo and how he turns into a wolf, so he just figures that this is something Hylians do and it's just kinda random what animal they'll end up being.
Ralph though? Insufferable in a whole different direction! His and Legend's dynamic is built on mocking and making fun of each other, constantly picking at the other, but also being willing to die for the other. They're toxic besties, or maybe rivals with a complex, who knows. Either way, he IS going to laugh at Legend for being small and weak, and then probably regret that when he gets hit in the face with the full force of all 6 lbs of Legend's beastly form.
Deep down, he probably does think it's cute, but he's 'too much of a man' to call stuff cute. Maybe maybe maybe he tries petting him, but only if Legend is conked out already, because as long as the vet is awake, he is going to pretend that he thinks this should be embarrassing for the other. He is resisting the urge to pick him up like this though, because let's be real, everyone also wants to do that; Legend's small and cute and fluffy and frankly adorable like that, so yeah, even Nayru's personal knight is fighting the impulse to SCOOP.
What is Legend's best/worst traits? As a character, or that he sees in himself!
Legend's best and worst trait at the same time, I think, is an inability to say no.
Not like, actually say the word; this isn't a Mute Link joke or something. Legend can say the word, and he does, but the thing is, as long as you aren't his direct for at the moment, if you ask him for help with even the most mundane of things, he really can't say no to it. This isn't something that comes up in LU exactly, but let's be real; he's been on 5-8 adventures, depending on what you personally allot to him (I count ALTTP, OOS/OOA, LA, ALBW, CoH, EoW and TFH, personally, because I can) which means that 5-8 Time's, he's been asked to save the world or someone in it, and every single time, he does. And not only that, he is constantly picking up side quests.
Help provide for this small family who just had their first kid? He's literally twelve but suddenly he'd funding their child's upbringing just because they asked nicely.
He hears a dodongo calling out for help because it's being attacked by a bunch of villagers? Boy goes over there and scares off the village folk and rescues what most other people just see as a monster and then befriends it, just because it's the right thing in his mind.
Legend can and will give anyone the shirt off his back if they needed it, ad maybe he's a bit snarky about it nowadays, but he still won't hesitate.
Unlike the other heroes who can choose to do the chaotic thing or not to help at all, Legend's games rely on you choosing to help everyone that you can and doing all in your power to make their lives better, which I actually love! There's no snarky text options or reluctant quips, just action, and I think that says a lot about our vet.
That said, the willingness to always help everyone, no matter the personal cost, does mean that I think Legend's prone to overextending himself and there-by stressing himself out more than necessary. He's juggling picking up random mushrooms for Syrup with getting a gnome back home and then also making sure he finds someone's lost husband who wandered up into the mountains for some reason (all cannon to his games) at the same time, and even if he is a hero and good at multitasking, everyone has their limits.
So yeah, overextending himself and being something of pushover when it comes to people asking him for stuff. Yes, LU Legend will do it with a snarky comment or pretending that he's so annoyed with it, but he's still doing all in his power for everyone around him.
I feel like that gets missed a bit with the LU characterization, actually, since so much of his in-game personality is literally just him being a cutie-patootie who wants to help everyone out and make their lives better, which is a bit hard to keep in mind when his LU interpretation is a slightly jaded teenager with repressed trauma and abandonment issues. But yeah.

Fun fact! I can't talk about stuff I like without being prompted, apparently, either by someone else's stuff, or by direct request, so.....
ask me about Legend? Literally anything please, I wanna talk about him but I have NO direction and it's all a mess of word vomit unless I'm responding to someone T-T
I feel like a common headcanon is that Legend hates the Master Sword like Time. But this is completely untrue.
Look at them. Heâs holding her carefully. He's holding her close. He's smiling at her. He's teasing her and giving her a playful nickname.
Legend cares about the Master Sword. She has been his most loyal companion. Theyâre best friends, and I need more people to know that. Getting kind of sick of fics were Legend hates the Master Sword.
I always like to argue that Legend is, second to Sky, the guy who loves the sword the most
He reforged her with his own two hands, and still carries that reforged version of her to this day. She's been the only constant in his life since he acquired her in his first adventure, and while he's had a dozen or more companions over the years and adventures, she's the only person/entity that he's never actually had to say goodbye to. I feel like she grounds him, in a way,a ND while she's not nearly as strong in his time as she was in Sky's, he'd never give her blade up for a stronger one because it's not Fi.
Honestly, Fi's played a bigger role in Legend's life than arguably any other hero, since she's been there for at least half of it (in contrast to the year/months with the other heroes, who all eventually put her back in the end or have to leave her *cough*in Gannon's head *cough*) so I think he might actually be the hero with the greatest fondness and connection with her, even if it isn't as dramatic and emotional as Sky's or as conflicted as Warriors' experience with her.

Hi ketto! If you are in the mood to write to prompts, you should check out the ficfight @forthetriforce ! Its staring soon
I really appreciate that! But I fear I have far more prompts on hold than I think I could even actually write (300+ tabs/asks) so I do not actually NEED prompts
The other day, it was more because someone wanted a particular kind of content and it was for a subject I also enjoy, so offering to create something for them was easy to do, y'know? I can't do it too often though, especially with it being finals week rn T-T

I do this too actually! I mean, I've been here for like.......five years? So yeah, I don't struggle to remember them all, but I do tend to mentally group them when tagging things or doing a headcount to make sure everyone got some attention in a fic.
iâm so shocked that you saw my post and opened your requests about it!! I hope you donât burn yourself out too much with the amount that you receive and I canât wait to read whatever you make I love your fics and I constantly look forward to them!!
my pleasure! my weakness is cute platonic pairings, ESPECIALLY when they involve Legend, so honestly it was like a gift from above for me!
Broke me outta a slump, that's for sure, so thank YOU!
I did post something already, and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I loved writing it <3
I think LU writers should write more downfall duo fics just for my convenienceâŚI feel like iâve read almost every downfall duo fic there is and Iâm greedy and I want more..
Downfall duo requests you say? Here's a few you can choose from if you'd like <3
Hyrule accidentally triggers Legend's lightning trauma with his magic
Bunny!Legend and fairy!Hyrule hang out
Hyrule discovers bunny!Legend
The chain finds them all cuddled up after they'd both been struggling with being surrounded by people all the time
One of them gets really sick and only accepts company from the other
Opera House - one is seriously overworking themself and the other has to (kindly) drag them away to nap for a few hours
No pressure to do every single one of these, genuinely, it's just whatever popped into my head :]
I;d take you up on that Opera House one (I love that you guys request stuff for that AU so much, you have no idea!) except that's already in the plans for a coming chapter and I don't want to steal my own thunder LOL
Give me an hour or so though, I think I can do one or two of these (might combine some if the whim takes me)!
Okay! Went with the "cuddling after being over-peopled" option because honestly? Mood! My roommates are LOUD lol

Itâs new and strange and very different to suddenly be traveling with so many people.Â
And Hyrule likes it; he does. He does. He does! Honestly, he actually likes having people around- after so long of having to avoid them for their own safety, itâs like breathing fresh air again after living for years in a cave! Still, thereâs a difference between fresh air as you step into the open and being basted with the full force of a gale, and sometimes being around the other heroes is more like the latter.Â
Itâs better than being estranged from humanity as a whole, but there are still times when not needing to balance keeping track of eight other people is itself a blessing.Â
Theyâre all capable. Even Wind, the youngest, holds his own in a battle with all the skill and confidence as anyone else who holds their title. He doesnât actually need to look out for them, but itâs still the right thing to do for his brothers, and you never know when someone else might slip or be tired or if and when something slips through a defense because someone didnât know theyâd even need to be on the lookout for that sort of thing.Â
They run into that a lot actually. The threats in their individual homes are all so different, as proven by the horror on the faces of the rest when he and Legend had drawn their swords at the first sight of a Zora, or by the fact that heâd never even considered that the plants in the captainâs world might try to eat him.Â
In a way, it makes them all jumpier to know that they donât actually know all the things that might kill them anymore, and that just adds to the stress.Â
And stress it is! Eight people. Eight new people. Eight people with different likes and dislikes and tastes and senses of humor and tolerance levels for all manner of nonsense. If he and Wild wander off, Legend and Warriors will just roll their eyes when they get back, but Twilight fusses and scolds like theyâre still little kids. Meanwhile, if someone starts a prank war, the rancher is only too eager to join, meanwhile itâs Legend who hisses and scolds the second anyone else touches his things or person without permission.Â
Heâs figuring it out, but some of them are difficult. Some of them are Four who he canât read for the life of him, or Time whoâs stern expression make it difficult to get too close (unless of course youâre Twilight and Wind). Some of them are easy though, like Warriors whose all open arms and words of advice, and Wild whose far fewer words but eager adventure and chances to explore each new w3orld as tehy come into it.Â
The easier though, he thinks, is Legend.Â
Maybe itâs because he already knows so much about the other, maybe itâs because thereâd been something like understanding taht passed between them the first time theyâd come to running water and the rest had looked up confused at why on earth they oughtnât drink it without checking first. Maybe itâs the way Legendâs hand falls to his blade in the same second as Hyrule finds himself doing so, or the way he shakes his head when they suggest going off path. Maybe itâs the easy back and forth when he tries teasing the other, just to get handed back the same in a slightly sharper tone, but softened with the way light sparks in twilight colored eyes as a smirk thatâs almost familia is leveled his way.Â
Thereâs a thousand reasons why, but the most likely is because Legendâs the first hero heâd met of the lot of them, and that time spent one on one, just the two of them traveling together before theyâd come upon the others, had built a sort of trust between them. After all, theyâd had to learn to let the other guard them while they slept, and heâd had to accept the food the veteran offered him because heavens know he might have starved in that foreign place otherwise, especially when the vet had constantly been murmuring about how poisonous the plants theyâd been surrounded with actually were. Maybe it was learnuing to cover someone else in battle, legendâs shield saving his life once when the otehr had raised it just in time to protect him from a blow heâd been to busy to fend off for himself, a favor heâd followed up with a similar such sav a little later on, when Legend had been too cornered for his usual dart and stab method of fighting to serve him very well.Â
Whatever the case, sometimes, when the fresh air of friendly faces does whip up into an overwhelming gale, Hryule teds to start guiltily wishing they were back in those days again, just the two of them, when he wasnât alone but he wasnât nearly so overwhelmed either.Â
âTraveler!â The voice catches him off guard, pulls Hyrule from his musings and has him turning about just in time to see Legend himself clambering over a log, puffing a bit and looking cross, but no more than usual as he swipes his skirt free from the splintering surface. âThere you are. The rest are getting worried that you havenât come back.âÂ
His tone is even, matter of fact, itâs so unpretentious as to actually be pretentious, because he knows Legend himself probably was also worried and just doesnât want to admit it.Â
âSorry,â he is, just a bit, more for making them worry than for staying away at all. âIâm fine, just....âÂ
Dark eyes scan over him, searching for injury, for strain, for a hint of a limp as he moves loosely along towards the veteran, who stops in his own steps to let Hyrule come to him. He wonât find anything, Hyrule thinks, although then again, he might find something Hyrule himself hadnât noticed as well; Legendâs sharp like that, and a total worrywart. He's liable to make a mountain out of a molehill when heâs worried about someone, especially when itâs one of the few heroes heâs somewhat close to.Â
If it was the captain, the old man, or Four, itâd probably be concern, but heâd be brash about it, with the rest though, well, theyâve already seen how panicked heâd gotten about Wild and Twilightâs respective injuries, and given how heâs started to soften to Sky and how he looks at Wind, Hyruleâd wager a guess that theyâve somehow moseyed their way into his heart as well, though whether he knows it yet is still to be determined.Â
âI just needed a minute,â itâs easy enough to admit, to let the words gust out of him with a sigh and a crooked little smile that has the sharpness on the veteranâs face fading somewhat, has brows ticking together ever so slightly instead. Â
 âYou good?âÂ
âOverwhelmed,â he admits, dragging a hand through his hair and letting it catch on the curls as he looks up again pas it, meets eyes that are creased with concern now and tacks on âthe rest are a lot sometimes.âÂ
The vetâs gaze slips away, sidewise a second as he muses on the words before giving a short rather tight little nod, like maybe heâs not sure if he ought to admit it aloud. âYeah, they are.âÂ
âMakes me kinda miss when it was just you and me, you know?âÂ
Violet flicker up, find brown, hold and stare all sharp and startled, and Hyrule meets them with a smile. It seems to do the trick too, and something in that stoney face cracks as the vet tugs his cap off his head to smack against his leg, like heâs actually got a need to dust it off, or just wants to distract from the way his breath gets heavier as he nods. âYeah, me too.âÂ
Legend doesnât tend to relax first, if at all, in Hyruleâs experience, and heâs never the one to prompt anything except action out of the people around him. Thatâs okay though, because as an adventurer, Hyrule never minds forging the path ahead for the both of them, and if that means being the one to plop himself down again at the base of a tree, well, he doesn't mind if he does!Â
Legend takes a second longer, sparing a glance back again towards camp for a moment like heâs not cwertain if they can linger at all, that the rest wonât come to drag them back if they take even a second longer, but then Hyrule pats the ground at his side and something like longing flickers acorss the pinched face of his brother.Â
âJust for a minute,â Legend warns him, like either of the actually believe it, but he knows Legend needs to at least pretend that theyâre goig back in a bit. If it works it works though, and at least the other moves, marching the short distance over and then dropping himself down at Hyruleâs side with a faint fwump from his skirts.Â
The vetâs presence sparks a warmth at his side, blocking the breeze there as it whispers past them.Â
 Hyrule doesnât say anothing.Â
 Legend doesnât either.Â
Neither of them has an issue with that.Â
Somewhere, not too far off, thereâs the sounds of the camp, of someoneâs voice raised in the cadance of a complaint and Timeâs distinctively stern tones answering them with what could be a scolding or just a passing remark; no one except twilight can tell the difference even when theyâre right beside him, and from a distance itâs truly impossible.Â
âTheyâre probably wondering why weâre ot back yet,â Legend murmurs, fingers working a seam on his cap in what Hyruleâs long since learned to recognize as anxiety/ For all that the veteran is just that, a veteran, heâs also still kind of young, and experienced or not, he seems to constantly be on edge about just about enything and everything that happens around and too them. Even just a quiet moment seems to make him think something terrible is coming, that itâs the calm before a storm, and itâs a thousand times worsewhen tere is actually something wrong.Â
In answer, the traveler just shuts his eyes and lets his head sag to one side, letâs it fall to the vet;s shoulder in a way that makes the otehr jump a second before going quite still.Â
âWeâre not idiots,â he murmurs back, âthey know we can handle ourselves.âÂ
âThis shadow took down Twilight,â Legend drawls out, but his hands are still rubbing at blue fabric, âand last I checked, heâs two of me.âÂ
âNah,â Hyrule chuckles, âTwilightâs tons nicer than you, youâre a grouch.âÂ
âNot what I meant,â itâs huffed, but the sound of skin on fabric slows anyways.Â
Hyrule lets himself sag a bit closer.Â
Usually, he doesnât care for contact. For fairies, itâs dangerous to get to close to each other because then your wings get in each othersâ ways and both of you end up falling out of the sky. Itâs different for hylians, for honestly, heâs not used to that either. Zelda- Dawn, doesnât take well to physical contact after bieng locked up for so long, and while Aurora is the exact opposite, sheâs rather a bit too much at times as a result. Legendâs not like either of them though, heâs sor of just...there. There and warm and solid and even for all his fussing and frowning and heaving out sighs, heâs never once pushed Hyrule away when the traveler does prompt contact.Â
Itâs a happy medium, he thinks. If Legend isnât up for it, heâll say so, but while he never prompts any contact himself, heâs almost always open to it when Hyrule does, and usually, after a moment, heâll eve return it.Â
Like now. Thereâs a weight against the top of his head as the shoulder beneath it rises and falls with one of those customary sighs, like Legend minds, even though heâs got his own head resting against Hyruleâs. Â
 âTimeâs gonna yell at us.âÂ
âWe arenât his kids,â Hyrule reminds, âweâre grown adults.âÂ
 âDoesnât stop the old man.âÂ
âMight, after you yelled at him about it last time.âÂ
Silence again, and the weight against his crown increases. A boot scuffs through the earth, and he finds himself swaying slightly, body following the motion of his head as Legend leans back some against the nearest tree, which is quite close indeed. Once heâs settled, Hyrule lulls his head back a bit further, eyes opening to gaze upwards.Â
Itâs so green in this era of Hyrule, and he almost regrets laying his head to the vetâs shoulder now since it means craning his neck to be able to see it.Â
The weight against him moves though, and the shoulder rises, stiffens, as the vetâs gaze follows his own, like heâs looking for some threat he thinks Hyruleâs spotted.Â
A ball of anxiety this guy, honestly.Â
âIsnât it pretty?â He asks, shifting to lean back more, head lifting properly to take it in. Much as the contact was nice, Legendâs a bit boney, and when the other is tense itâs terribly uncomfortable to have those bones poking Hyrule so sharply.Â
Said tension bleeds away slightly with a hum though at the confirmation that itâs not an enemy or threat that has the travelerâs attention, just the sky. âYou should see Orchard Hill, itâs prettier.âÂ
âNo, itâs not,â Hyrule challenges, dropping his head and gaze to catch his brotherâs, to see the way Legendâs face pulls into a pout at the perceived offence to his home treescape. âHow could anything be prettier than a healthy forest?âÂ
A hint of fire bursts alight in the depths of darkness in Legendâs face, a confident little smirk taking over as he looks back up again, one hand lifting as though to paint the image for him in thin air. âImagine all that, except so thick that the sun wonât get through.âÂ
âHmm?â Hyrule prompts, leaning back against the bark of the tree once more.Â
âInterspersed,â Legend continues, a warmth touching his tone as he leans further back, hair slipping on the curve of the treeâs bark enough that his whole frame shifts to a hairsbreadth away from Hyruleâs own, both hands now raised to gesture skywards as he starts to wax poetic about his apple orchard in just the way the traveler was hoping he might. âThereâs little dots of pink and red and gold, all just starting to peek out from blossoms that are the softest, purest pink youâve ever seen in all yer days,â his head lands on Hyruleâs shoulder this time, and the traveler accepts the weight without even a flinch.Â
âEven pinker then your hair?â He teases.Â
Said hair hisses some at the speed with which the vet turns his head, cheek smushing against the fabric of Hyruleâs sleeve. âYes,â he hisses, glaring, âpinker than my detsalb hair.âÂ
 Hyrule giggles.Â
Legend scowls, but the light in his eyes doesn't die even a bit. if anything, it seems to brighter more at the sound of his brotherâs laughter.Â
âGo on,â he prompts, shrugging his shoulder a bit and jostling the head rested on it, âis that all is, or was there supposed to be something impressive about all that?âÂ
Itâs the right words, but he knew that already. Itâs just the thing to get Legend going on, to have him yapping away about his orchard and trees, about the fine apples he grows and how theyâre the best in the whole of the world, enough to turn any other apples to sawdust in your mouth once youâve tasted them.Â
Hyrule knows heâs right too. There are poems from Legendâs days about those apples. Actual poetry about âblessed fruit blossomed beneath the heroâs handâ.Â
And apples turn to plants, to trees, to the tellings they whisper between themselves that no one else can hear, which of course has Hyrule challenging him to translate what the breeze blows between their boughs, the chattering of the leaves high overhead and the branches that sway to send sunlight dancing over the two of them and away again in turn.Â
And of course Legend rises to the bait, translates the words Hyrule canât hear. Tells him about the gossip that travels through the forst, how one tree has dared bloom earlier than her sisters and how sheâll regret it when her sap freezes up again in a week or so, how her sisters think her a fool and how at least sheâs not such a fool as some otehr tree that once stood by the banks of a river but fell in a storm after she bloomed the second the snow had stopped. He listens as Legend starts to chuckle about the way the trees talk about them as they lay beneath the branches, how theyâre apparently such charming little creatures, and so decent indeed to appreciate the magnificence clearly before them, although also rude to presume to call any other tree more magnificent. Although, apparently, tere are some among the great forest who seem to wonder if they really are so great now that theyâve heard tell of these wonderous apple trees.Â
It really only takes a second or so before Legendâs stopped telling him the conversation and has instead joined it, but Hyrule doesnât mind.  The vetâs shoulder settles over his chest and his head against his own shoulder and the warmth is a pleasant shield from the fresh air that blows against them. Legendâs voice softens and sweetens the longer it sounds, the characteristic ire slipping free for something free and light and sweet as apple slices.Â
Itâs perfect. Like a drink of fresh water aftr too much savory soup. Itâs simple and sweet and so soothing and he wishes it could last- while not forever, at least for a while, at least until heâs ready to run headfirst back into the breeze again and greet the bustle and noise of eight other people instead of just one.Â
So Hyrule soaks it up, like a tree soaking sunlight, soaks up the warmth of his brother at his side and the sound of his voice without worry making it sharp, and for what feels like the first time in a good while, he feels like he can breathe again.Â

Okay, locking in now on the Downfall Duo fic, I just needed to make sure to update ACAC first for the sweet people who've been waiting half a year for a conclusion to Legend and Wild's talk (I am so sorry for that, guys!)
Anyways, if you'd like some Legend content while you wait for me to finish, A Crown Amidst Courage has 37 chapters now as of a minute ago :3)
Now for me to put Hyrule and Legend in the same space for once!
