So, while working on my recent Four animation, I, of course, used some panels from Sunset pt 6 and 7 a lot as a reference/inspiration/just to stare at Four giggling kicking my feet like a weirdo, you name it. And while looking at one particular panel I noticed

that Blue's hair is kinda.. red

I didn't think much of it then, decided that the lighting was playing tricks on me. But then, when I started looking for a shield reference (right here) I saw that it was not lighting at all and that each of them had a different shade of blond

That made me think of a headcanon that I've seen in some fanart/fics, where Four's eye color changes depending on his emotions. I personally don't use it (I'm not really a "Colors overtaking Four" believer), but I've always thought that it was a fun one, and it also works well in fics, so why not

WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAY is: imagine the sheer comedic potential of Four's hair color changing instead of his eyes. When someone pisses him off so much his hair actually gets more red. When he starts overanalyzing something it gets darker. And everyone around him being like "you guys seeing this shit". IMAGINE

Time concepts for the Avatar AU that I totally haven't abandoned

So yeah, some notes/theories/concepts that I have for him:

baby grew up in the Kokiri Swamp Tribe, so he was raised a Waterbender. However, his native element is Fire

was deemed "a freak" by some members of the tribe once it was discovered that he can bend more than one element

can manipulate plants. Uses it for pranks on daily basis (again, mainly on Warriors)

I kind of mentioned this before, but the Ocarina of Time is made of the material from the Spirit World, which happens to be Timeshift stone (I wrote that in my notes and then two days later found out that it's apparently EDIT: possibly canon. on a pointcrow stream of all places)

Navi, just like all of the fairies, is a spirit. I had an idea of making them the dragonfly bunny spirits as you can see, but I'm not completely sure if I should. They could work as just fairies too

after unsuccessfully searching for Navi in the Spirit World (and also reconnecting with the Avatar Spirit and saving the realm from a certain dark spirit while he was at it), he went to live on Lon Lon Ranch

Epona, his animal companion, is a horse. Just horse

I'm kinda struggling with his Old Man™ design though. I'm not really sure how to adapt his armor, cause I'm not sure where said armor comes from. I know design-wise it is a mix of Fierce Deity and Hero's Shade, but how does he actually acquire it? Was he a knight at some point and is now retired? Was it magic? Idk, but if there's some lore I'm missing let me know

Sure! Works for everyone. The color of the shading depends on the environment. We're mostly used to warm light and cool shadows, because this is how natural lighting works (warm light comes from the sun, cool shadow reflects the color of the sky). So that's why I use those colors for simple character drawings

Yup, I kinda have a formula for quick drawings (for fully rendered stuff it's always a little different, I covered the process of one of the pieces in this post). Something like that:
