People on tumblr loooove to talk about restorative justice and abolition when it’s a nebulous concept. It’s lovely to think about someone growing and changing and trying to reckon with the harm they caused but when some people actually see that person, they can’t handle it. God forbid someone says “I did something awful and I don’t want people to hurt others the way I did.” Do you just expect every shitty person to magically disappear from the earth? Do you want them to pretend it never happened?

you’d be surprised at how many doctors will tell you that schizophrenics shouldn’t masturbate, have sexual fantasies or write/draw erotica, let alone date or have actual sex, because it “distracts them from recovery”, as if schizophrenia is a two week course of antibiotics and not a lifelong neurotype and disability

in general I notice this attitude in the schizophrenia and bipolar treatment community that people with these DXes are never allowed to do anything non-constructive that normal people can do in moderation, no alcohol, no caffeine, no thc, no going to late concerts or parties, no unplanned trips, no spontaneous situationships, not even junk food. the only thing we’re really allowed to partake in is nicotine, I assume because cigarettes and gum are good incentives for controlling our behavior. our lives have to be All Working On Ourselves, All The Time, because we have Erratic Crazy Person Who Can’t Make Their Own Decisions Disorder, and it’s an endless, thankless task because there’s no actual cure.

This is definitely a sawfly larva rather than a butterfly or moth caterpillar, likely a butternut woollyworm sawfly, Eriocampa juglandis. Sawflies are related to wasps (Hymenoptera) and look a lot like them, but do not sting.

if you self flagellate, self harm, self deprecate, etc when someone says "no thanks" to you or says "hey this made me uncomfortable" or generally sets a boundary, you are punishing for setting a boundary. maybe not intentionally, but it instills the mindset that if someone sets a boundary with you, something bad will happen.

I only hate certain types of fic the same way I hate mosquitos and ticks. Like get these nasty little buggers away from me but also I respect their place in the ecosystem.

To enjoy running through a beautiful field of grass and flowers (ao3) you have to tolerate the fact that bugs (fics you don’t like) are there and maybe you will even encounter one, but you can use bugspray (filtered tags) to reduce the likelihood of that. Because the alternative is not getting to experience the beautiful field of grass and flowers.
