one of those fuzzy catreprilars i think
ok i suddenly had a thought and got curious
visual artists: when you have an idea for something, does it appear in your mind as the finished product, the steps you'll have to take, a sentence, or something else?
finished thing (i saw an image of an apple in my head so that's what i'll draw)
steps (if i draw an apple, i'll draw a circle as a guide first, then...)
sentence (i should draw an apple being picked from a tree)
a combination of these (tell me in the tags!!)
something else (also tell me in the tags!!!!)
not a visual artist, just curious.
i have aphantasia (i can't see images in my brain) so i just like hearing how other people visualize ideas LOL also hopefully the examples i wrote make sense it's kind of hard to put into words but ehhhh
look ok there's about two weeks left before the batshit insane environment that was post deltarune chapter 3-4 is washed away behind all the new stuff and i'm nostalgic rn

i like how its becoming apparent in the new chapters that kris is actually pretty emotional and demonstrative (and has always been) and they just have a player-induced flat affect that makes people think they're reserved or aloof or whatever. can we get more of them being an impassioned little weirdo
so follow me into the dark
this scene was funny as fuck in my head
the contrast of kris/player relationship between routes is absolutely hilarious

the thing about what remains of edith finch is you spend the entire game hearing the stories of how the finch family died. and you hear these tales about natural disasters and catastrophes and situations that feel so implausible that you just have to believe that a curse is involved. and as the game goes on things get stripped back and you reach a point where you realize the entire game spins around three of the finch family members: edith finch, dawn finch, and edie finch. and edie wants edith to learn about the curse to understand the family she comes from. because this has been all of edie's life, watching her family die, surviving because she opened her arms up and embraced the truths of her world. and dawn wants edith to stay away from the curse because it's what killed her brothers, in a way that dawn could never have prevented. dawn could have saved her father, but she couldn't have saved lewis or milton because it was so beyond her understanding. and here edie is talking about something beyond any of their understandings, and edith is the only person dawn has left. and by the end you realize that edie died of old age. and then dawn died of a terminal illness. and edith dies in childbirth and at the end of this game about train collisions and being slaughtered by monsters and suicide inside a cannery that the three finch members who held their family legacy on their backs all died by natural causes. the three most natural causes in the world really. and what's left of edie, of dawn, of edith isn't the house and it isn't the curse because sometimes your family holds so much weight that you can't understand. what's left of edith finch is her son. the only thing left of edith finch is a legacy of life, but not hers. the lives of her ancestors, true, but the life of her son most of all.
by the end of what remains of edith finch you know very little about edith finch, and edith knows next to nothing about herself. you never find out if the curse is real. you never find out why all of the finch family died. all you know is that none of it was fair but all of it was incredible, and strange. it's just the most beautifully written crazy game of all fucking time basically.
@mildateo
'what remains of edith finch' is such a haunting story but like, the part that's the most harrowing to me is that the stories we see of their deaths are always, always filtered through edie. she's the one who makes the shrines, she's the one who leaves out diaries and poems and comics. and like, the actual deaths could be so far removed from what we know. there could be clues that have been eroded by time or clues put there on purpose. and like. just. even after death edie orchestrates (to some extent) all these deaths like one huge fantastical story. and the reality is they were just people. all of them were just people and they were just children with deaths that are only as true as we believe them to be.

This leopard sculpture is obvara fired! This technique involves dipping a hot piece right out of the kiln into a yeast solution, creating unpredictable and unique patterns. This sculpture will be available this Friday, June 12th at 8pm Eastern time.

a direct followup to my other post of them meeting, which I've already changed how I draw MB 3 times since then, including once since I started this but it's *FINE* we're putting it out anyway because I'm not drawing ART all over again
ART about to meet its best friend in the whole wide universe: what if I started this conversation in the scariest way possible
