I suspect they want an audience that will buy a shit-ton of cheaply made, overpriced merch and they have some market researcher saying that the existing fanbase has already largely painted/quilted/sewn/3d-printed the stuff they wanted.

A shitty reboot that will retcon the shows is looming, I'm afraid.

If, as I suspect, Amazons next move after canceling the stargate continuation is to announce a full on reboot that throws out everything but the movie (or maybe even the movie), then I'm done. I will not be watching it. Not only is a full reboot the last thing I would want with stargate, but I'm not going to reward them for this stupid move. Let it flop
