A Sichuan opera troupe performs traditional Chinese “bianlian”, otherwise known as “face-changing”, to welcome the coming New Year in Yuechi county, Guang'an, Sichuan province. As an intangible cultural heritage bianlian is a method used in Sichuan opera, to reveal an opera character’s inner thoughts and feelings.

Puju opera is featured by its high, simple and bold singing. It is not only good at performing impassioned and tragic heroic epics drama, but also skilled in portraying the personalities and emotions of characters in lyric drama. Puju opera is also featured by acrobatic skills.

At the 4th International Show for Peking, Kun and Other Chinese Operas held on Oct. 20, 2014 in Beijing, a Jiangzhou Puju Opera Troupe from north China’s Shanxi province gave an amazing acrobatic performance.
