- hollanov do not have kids. they are far too overstimulating and disruptive for shane and the idea of them breaking his routine every developmental milestone is just Not It for shane. he likes them as a concept and the image of ilya as a dad is so attractive but when he actually imagines ilya and him having kids he's like #nope. he doesn't mind babysitting because there's a clear end in sight and he can eventually give the children back and relax. he knows his parents would love grandchildren and feels really guilty about it for a really long time.

- he's not a dog person at all. he tolerates anya like one tolerates a random roommate theyve known for years. he supported ilya getting her and thinks she's great for him, but he's got nothing with her and doesn't want to. she's ilya's dog. he likes petting her occasionally (her head's really soft, sue him) and will let her cuddle up to him on the couch when ilya's not there (because it'd be mean to not let her she's just a dog. she doesn't understand why shane would push her away.) but that's where it ends. he'll walk her for ilya and take care of her when necessary, of course, but it's all mainly ilya's chores. she does not get to be in the bedroom (unless ilya feels really bad) because her paws have been everywhere his shoes have been and also the hair. he would do better with a generally aloof and independent indoor cat.

- the failed attempts at sex with rose bother him more than he lets on. he didn't want to be there, he said yes but his brain screamed no. it wasn't fun for him. this together with feeling like he was failing to prove that he could be 'normal' (in his mind) make these memories Bad for shane. he has a job and husband though so no time to explore all of that.

- he says he doesn't listen to music at all but the reality is that he'll listen to the same few songs on repeat for several weeks/months until he finds new ones. he told this to someone once and they looked at him so weird he resolved to tell nobody else.
