Anyway, I think it was an outing fic. And at some point, Ilya says "ya tebya lyublyu" to Shane, and he understands him because he had specifically looked that phrase to be able to tell Ilya "I love you" in his own language.

Shane discovered that easily enough on the couch in Ilya’s house, flayed open under his gaze by a single utterance of his first name. He bolted like a spooked horse before the afterglow could even set in. But God, what if Shane could finally get a real glimpse into it? To see what Ilya won’t tell him, can’t tell him? The emotions he keeps buried so deep under the Hollanders and that asshole persona? Before he can think better of it, Shane pulls up his Google Translate app.

Writing fics is a challenge, and sometimes it can be hard to edit what you wrote when you spend so much time looking at it. Give yourself breaks. Step away from writing. Watch some movies, listen to music, read books—just simply clear your mind from your current story and then come back to it when you feel refreshed. If you have visions for the chapters you’re working on, write it out or do bullet points, start small. Dream about it, visualize it. Ask yourself what you feel like is missing and go from there.

I am happy to help in any way that I can. If you want a fresh pair of eyes to read your fic, I don’t mind doing that. I’m not a professional and I’ve never beta’d another story (i know, i have high credentials) but I would be happy to help if you’re wanting it. Sometimes having another person read it can offer different insight to what you’re having difficulties in finding.

O-Town’s Fillies Back Again Series

Sorry if you’ve talked about this before but what’s your methodology for searching for fics, especially if you don’t recognize it from the description? It seems you almost always find what people are looking for so I’m curious your approach!

I don’t mind sharing 😛

So what I do is play around with tags and searching key words that would be found in the summary on AO3.

To start, I always have Shane Hollander/Ilya Rozanov clicked under “Relationship” so it only pulls stories for this ship. Under “Search” I have “sort by best match” because this will put stories that match my key words at the top. If you remember characters being in the story, then I add them too.

Now the tricky part is what I actually search. I put in key words that people tell me they remember from the summaries, and sometimes that will pull it up. I keep it simple with 1-3 word phrases. “Shane Blade Throat” or “Ilya Injury Centaurs” for example. Sometimes something as a single word works too if it’s unique to the story and it’s in the summary.

Sometimes I add tags that I think would be in the story to help filter out some more fics. Usually I can get searches under 100. I don’t mind shuffling through the fics if my search results are like 20. I usually command F and further search key words. If the search results come up 0 or over 100, then I try to simply google the fic based off what you guys give me. Sometimes the fic pops up or sometimes a reddit post pops up and I’ll use that. If there’s nothing, then at that point I give the power to my followers to help me find the fic.

Sometimes you guys give me wonderful details of fics, but my searching method doesn’t work because none of that information is in the summary, so I wouldn’t know unless i read that fic and recognized it.

I've been looking for a fic and I'm not sure whether it's been deleted or not and was hoping you might have run across it.

It's an a/b/o fic where Ilya is deemed too agressive by the mlh and is assigned Shane from a facility.

I think that Galina was also there as more of a mother figure/household manager for Ilya.

I have one that I cannot find in my history but I KNOW I read it more than once 😩

- wrong number/social media I guess

- both are hockey players in mlh/nhl, they just have never hooked up or really met beyond the rivalry

- Shane and Ilya meet on (I wanna say) grindr? Or something similar, sext for a while and exchange numbers (obvs using Jane and lily)

- key scene is at all-stars when Ilya is swimming in the pool, Shane notices his necklace and recognises it from ilyas pic so he freaks out and stops messaging him

- they’re in the lift together when a message comes into the team group chat about something banal, and Shane responds to it before remembering Ilya is in that chat too, so ilyas phone pings and it says message from “Jane” so HE realises it was Shane all along while they’re still in this lift together

- that’s all I remember but it was dual pov for sure if that helps
