i am thinking of fyodor as usual but im thinking a lot about his ability and how its honestly a miracle he isn’t crazier than he already is. Think of the soldiers that yosano had to heal over and over and how they were forced to practically die over and over and then come back. Its never said how long yosano was there and at what point she became a doctor for them but one can guess she was there for a few years, but the deaths in the war only got worse more at the end (to the point she was healing each person more than once a day) so these soldiers were forced to basically die and then get revived every day over and over to the point they went insane and tried to kill yosano for maybe a couple of years. Now think about fyodor, who has lived for possibly thousands of years, who has been forced to actually die over and over and revive over and over with no real way to die. Why do people shit on his character so much while turning around and praising people like dazai? Why is there sympathy for the soldiers while fyodor gets none? I feel like fyodor gets so much hate in the fandom because people just do not understand or care about his character when he has honestly pretty rational reason to do what he does. The fact people tried to look at him and tell him that he’s wrong and that there is good in ability users when he has seen humanity at it’s worst time after time after time and has seen that they will never change is crazy to me. It makes his death so much sadder because fyodor tried to save humanity, he tried so hard to fix them and at the end of it all he just loses hope. “I hate you all…” Its no wonder fyodor finds freedom in death, because he knows better than anyone what it is like being unable to die, unable to be free from the constraints of life. His character is probably one of the most tragic i’ve ever seen. Its so sad that no one could understand him, but its also not a surprise why. No one had seen so much of humanity like he had, didn’t know the worst more horrible bits of mankind like fyodor did. Its so sad because he never trusted anyone enough to be able to try and communicate his goals, his reasons, he has seen the most vile and has probably trusted people in the past but instead got backstabbed so now he feels like the only way he can make relationships with other people is through manipulation. He didn’t even try to explain himself when he died. He knew no one would understand anyways, so why bother? I know at first a lot of people thought that this wasnt a fitting death for him but when you look into it, i think its incredibly fitting. Its sad and rushed but it works really well. There were obviously better way that it could have been done but the best end for his character would be through death. Its like yosano said, “Losing is a human right.” Dying is a human right. “Thinking is a crime, breathing is a crime. And now he has been freed from all of that.” His entire character makes sense considering his ability, how long he has been alive. Its a genuine miracle that fyodor is not batshit fucking insane.
