Moscow Children's Rights Commissioner Olga Yaroslavskaya proposed reviving Soviet summer labor camps for schoolchildren.
Telegraph article
Russia is considering lowering the country’s working age to 12 and reopening Soviet summer labor camps to replace workers lost to the war in Ukraine. Moscow’s child labor commissioner argued that “the return of labour camps is a realistic scenario that our children will support”
Don't give RFK Jr. any ideas, he'll bring this to Murica so fuckin fast our heads will spin, but he'll lower that age to like 8.
Defense Secretary Hegseth previously announced the change due to an "impractical" system.
Not great!
Surprise! The ultra rich hates being taxed!
Also, 5% is equal to half to them somehow.
I think so many people are so deeply alienated from themselves that they have no clue how to exercise their free will and autonomy. For some, this alienation runs so deep that they are afraid of their own autonomy and humanity. It is completely understandable why one would have those feelings, but it can be worrisome.
I want to help others who feel this way, so here are small things I have done to exercise my free will:
Add "guilty pleasure" songs to playlists and actually listen to them (I have a ton of late 1990s-early 2000s music I listen to now proudly that I never listened to in the past out of shame)
Getting the décor item, bath set, bed spread, ect. in the patterns you like, even if it's "childish" (I got a dinosaur-themed wastebasket from the kids' décor section and I adore it)
Taking a new route to get to a place you go to often
Eat dessert first
Celebrate well, and often
Collect things that are "odd" or don't seem like an "acceptable" thing to collect (somebody on my "for you" page collects dandelion crayola crayons and it was so cool!!!!!!)
Incorporate one new piece in an outfit you wear frequently (e.g., a new chain, a necklace, ribbons, bracelets, ect.). Challenge yourself to add onto the outfits if you feel up for it.
Sing along to songs without worrying that you sound "good" or your intonation is completely accurate
Read a book from a genre you weren't allowed to read as a kid (comics, thrillers, mysteries, anything!)
Walk without having a specific destination or goal
Pick up a new craft without expecting yourself to master it or to ever be "good" enough. Get your hands messy.
I don't want to shame anybody for not feeling as though they have free will or that they are exempt from exercising it. However, I wanted to give ideas so that you might read this list and find your own ways to express your intrinsic autonomy and will. You deserve to be a person, to feel alive, not just living. That is what our lives are for.
Yes. I am afraid of pretty much all of these things.
No, I do not intend to change that. I am my anxiety. I do not conceive of a me that is not my anxiety. I cannot consider that alternate reality without knowing it in detail, which I cannot do without first attaining it, therefore I change nothing, make no moves, repeat the status quo exactly in hopes that I don't disrupt what works today and screw up what I've managed to put together.
I will basically just click Next Page for the remaining 10-to-30 years of my life because I'm too scared to risk something bad happening by *doing anything* on any of those pages.
And in my head, that is the correct choice.

Completely lost all concepts of joke comprehension for a moment because my instinct was to register this as a new type of kitchencel
Okay but what brand is this Neapolitan ice cream? Because strawberry is easily fucked up by most of the brands. Good strawberry ice cream is rare unless you make it yourself. If this is store brand, i would also eat around the pink layer.
LOL?
Jonathan Joss was an Indigenous, gay man who was murdered on the first day of Pride month as well as Indigenous History Month. He died protecting his trans husband. Homophobia and racism aren’t marks of the past, and this is a heart breaking reminder of that.
Praying for a safe journey back to the spirit world, Uncle ❤️🩹🦅
Today is the anniversary of the death of Jonathan Joss (King of the Hill, Parks and Rec). Jonathan Joss was an Indigenous, gay man who died protecting his transgender husband, on the first day of Pride month. Today we remember him and how he protected his family.
Elon Musk's DOGE is entirely responsible for raising grocery prices and next week he will be crowned the world's first trillionaire.

when a government bans young people from using social media, and then categorises messenger apps like Signal and WhatsApp as "social media", they are pushing those young people toward using text messages, a fundamentally insecure form of communication. texts are not encrypted in transit and can be read by both the sender's mobile carrier and the recipient's. that also means they can be leaked in data breaches, subpoenaed, or just handed over willingly to law enforcement at the carriers' discretion.
hmm. I wonder why governments might want this
this is not JUST about destroying kids' privacy by the way, although that is bad on its own! but think about it: if you can push everyone to spend their formative social years communicating through an insecure protocol, most of them are not going to do the work of moving to a secure one the moment they're legally allowed! banning everyone under 16 from Signal and WhatsApp creates a whole population of people more likely to continue, for the rest of their lives, to communicate using a tool the government can access at the drop of a hat
We are an occupied country. Isreal is running MAGA. You can't even criticize Israel.
everyone: happy pride month 🌈
my brain at 12:00 am on june 1st:
Reddit is boring, I made an account to join some chronic pain subs and immediately got a ban warning for saying that fibromyalgia deniers should be beaten with hammers. Tumblr would never.
The casuality with which threats are jokingly wielded on this platform was VERY jarring to me at first, coming from reddit. I am hyper-cautious about writing anything that constitutes (a) active verbs (b) directed at other users because I have been conditioned to expect a warning for it.
The Centurion Project's voter surveillance tool was built by US political operatives with direct ties to the Trump regime
The data on 2.9 million Albertans was loaded onto an app built with US funding, shaped by US political strategists, and deployed by a Canadian separatist organizer who spent nearly two years cultivating US partners before launching the Centurion Project. The question is not whether there is a US connection to what lawyers have called potentially the most significant privacy breach in Canadian history. The question is how deep the operation goes, who in the Trump orbit knew about it, and how far are they willing to take it. On the night of 29 April 2026, David Parker stood in front of supporters at the Edmonton Oilfield Technical Society and unveiled the Centurion Project app, describing the technology as the same tool that "helped Trump win Michigan." Minutes after Parker finished speaking, an Elections Alberta investigator arrived with Edmonton police officers to inform organisers they were under investigation for improperly accessing and using the province's list of electors. Parker had already loaded the names, addresses, and voter identification numbers of every judge, every lawyer, every politician, every domestic abuse victim, every First Nations chief, every journalist, every senator, and every elections investigator in the province onto that app. Former premier Jason Kenney, on learning his home address had been shown to meeting participants, retained legal counsel and said he had previously received threats from people involved with the separatist, anti-vaccine, and far-right movements in Alberta. The database was accessible to anyone with the link, with no identity verification required.

I feel like all internet providers are the same tbh.
Can't relate.
We dont have this in my area.
Oh don’t worry, we are waiting for the Enshittification shoe to drop… Google has spun them off, they are just Gfiber and now owned by venture capital. Maybe they won’t pillage the company and turn the product to shit! But it’s 2026 so I just assume they’re intent on destroying my lovely amazing fiber and making it worse than Comcast/etc. because thats what we do in capitalist america 2026 after all…
But yeah, 3GB for $100/mo is a sick deal (or 1GB symmetrical for $70/mo).
Can we please DENATURALIZE and DEPORT this dishonest, deceitful South African IMMIGRANT motherfucker back to Johannesburg before he helps Republicans steal another one of OUR elections?
