however, allistics don't realize they do this, so asking them to say the unspoken surprises and confuses them. this is not their fault. allistics can be quite emotionally fragile and perceive directness as confrontation, so they habitually rely on indirect speech and coded language to preserve others' feelings. this is why they may find it difficult to be direct, even when asked. I have found that with enough gentle encouragement and reassurance that they are actually helping you, you too can achieve successful communication with your allistic friend or loved one. :)

i did briefly kick around the idea of turning the tables in star-crossed world and having grace realise he actually couldn't handle being held down and "experimented on" during sex because of his trauma, but that he could still get to live out his alien abduction fantasies by doing a scene where he gets to "experiment" on rocky. in the long run i decided not to, the whole fic was leading up to him being the sub in that scene, and that's what i wanted to write. but grace/rocky science experiment roleplay is evergreen and there's a lot of potential there! i also think it's fun when the physically weaker character doms. the necessary suspension of disbelief to pretend that someone weaker is overpowering someone stronger can be very cute or sexy. and even though he's weaker, grace is still a lot bigger than rocky, so i think if rocky wanted to give up control, that could really work for him. most of all, i think it would be really good for rocky and #hisissues to let grace take care of him every once in a while! he's a control freak with a saviour complex. i think he highly values his ability to meet grace's needs and provide things for him. he believes that if he can do that well enough, it will in some way start to make up for his perceived failure to singlehandedly save his crew. rocky thinks it's his job to fix everything, but it's not. and it can be really interesting to see a character like that get deconstructed and learn to be vulnerable and give up control and ask for things they want to be done to/for them.
