This is Choxie.

...Also known as Chox, Choxie Toes, Chocker Rocker (pronounced so it rhymes), Chocken (like chicken, but with an O), Chox-In-Socks, and a whole bunch other nicknames I’m probably forgetting.

At the time of writing, she is 9 years old. She was born (theoretically; we don’t actually know) on January 1st, 2011 (which is a very fun birthday honestly... 01/01/11. All 1s).

She is a genuine bonafide mystery mutt— although I have asked to DNA test her, I have been denied every time. We’ll see if I can ever wear my parents down.

Choxie is a total sweetheart— she’s become much more chill and a little less sociable than she was in her youth, but she’s overall a very warm, sweet, calm dog. I would say she wouldn’t hurt a fly, but flies are ironically the only thing she will hurt (she hunts them for fun).

Also, although I do not talk about it often on here: Choxie has a lot of health issues, mostly with her guts (which is most likely why she’s such a picky eater), and she always has. If you are not comfortable with such discussions, discussions of Choxie’s health will be tagged #choxie health .

This is Penny.

...Also known as Peanut, Peanut-Beanut, Peanut-Butter-Penny-Time, McPenn, Pretty Penny, Penny Pincher, Little Creature, Little Brat, and Stinkerpants— again, this list of nicknames is not exhaustive in the slightest.

At the time of writing, Penny is almost 7 months old. She was born on May 25th, 2020 (and we know this for sure).

Penny was given to us as an English setter/boxer mix, but it’s become clear that this was the shelter’s best guess. As of now, she is also a mystery mutt, but her genetic makeup is much less enigmatic than Chox’s: Penny has 11 siblings (and this we know for sure, as her mother was pregnant with them when she was found), we are in contact with a good number of her siblings’ people, and several of them have been DNA tested. It appears that Penny is likely some sort of golden-labradoodle with... some chow-chow and beagle and other things mixed in there. ...Listen, we don’t get it either.

We haven’t known Penny quite long enough to know her personality— and to be fair to us, she hasn’t really developed many personality traits besides Yell, Cause Problems, and Attention Whore. It’s probably going to take her a while to settle down (if she ever does), and as much as I love her, I’m praying for that day to come.

About the Human (and Other Important Notes)

Hi there! I’m Vee, and I’m the human behind this nonsense!

First point of note: I’m nonbinary and I use they/them pronouns. Although I believe this to be simply common sense, common sense is often in short supply amongst internet dwellers I also believe this to be worth repeating: please be mindful of gendered language (examples include but are not limited to “girl”, “b*tch”, “bro”, and “dude”) when you are addressing me. Depending on the day, you may cause me anything between mild annoyance and severe discomfort. Regardless, it will start our interactions off on the wrong foot, and no one wants that.

Second point of note: I have ADHD! This is important because my main method of putting things on this blog is swipe-queueing posts (I only use mobile). As such, I may not tag triggers on things I reblog from other people— original posts will always be tagged because I like yelling in the tags when I make those.

If you’d like me to tag something, please ask me politely off-anon (my ask box is basically always open, and I answer all tag requests privately on principle), and in most circumstances I will be happy to tag it for you. However, because I swipe-queue everything and also my memory is terrible, I may forget.

If you don’t feel comfortable following me because of that: that’s totally okay! Your health and safety come first, and it falls to each individual to curate their online experience.

Also: I may accidentally reblog another person’s post multiple times from myself because I was not paying attention. I’m trying to be more aware of it, but it happens sometimes 😬

Third point of note: as of now, I have begun spending the majority of my time away from my dogs (as they are family pets) and only see them in person intermittently. Therefore, content will be somewhat sparse (since I am dependent on things sent to me from my family). This blog operates on a strict semi-hiatus, mostly queued content basis, except when I am home (and sometimes not even then, depending on my mental health).
