I've been thinking a lot about streamlining pig care, it's already nice that I have the side by side to not have to lug things out to them by hand, and I have 2 sets of bowls so I can pass out a meal and pick up the last meals empty bowls then leave. This year i put all the pools up by the gate so i don't have to try and wrangle pigs at the gate driving in OR carry buckets across their yard, its just right there at the gate. I've tried fermenting their dinners this past week, so the day prior I portion out what would regularly go I to each bowl all in a 5 gal bucket, add in my regular water and then some, and then at the next dinner I just grab the bucket and take it out to the hogs and scoop a portion into every bowl that is already out there from breakfast. Dinner is usually where I hit a wall and it just feels impossible to get things ready and out to them (in reality it is NOT HARD I do not know why I feel like this) so this definitely is easier on my brain, plus the pigs seem to like it more? I think I'll keep doing it in the summer, I'm just not sure how well it will work in the winter when the house is cold... I'm going to play around with the measurements because I think I can feed a little less doing the fermenting and it would be nice to find some better sized things so I can do one scoop and into a smaller bucket because the 5 gal is larger than I need for this, also it is eating up one of the 5 gals I need to bring water out to them. I haven't pulled the trigger on purchasing the large waterer because its only going to help so much being in one yard and also I think I will need to modify a lid for it so that the stupid birds here dont like down themselves in the top.
