The face of a horrible naughty 3 legged boy who has been nothing but a headache since before I took him home who has now popped a stitch AGAIN.

#foster tails #terrible creature i shall never do a leg amp foster AGAIN #he now is not allowed to leave his crate or have ANY toys :(#first time he popped a stitch and got infected and had to be re-sewed #and switched to stronger antibiotics #since he did it AGAIN (minus infection this time tho!) he is out of skin to stretch so he just has to heal it himself tragically #also annoyed he came pre-named because i wanted to name him something y #silly #in relation to his leg #but no he is Tiny Tim.

There is this dog at work that might be an animal control case situation so they may or may not go back to the people but I LOVE HIM and I am not particularly looking to add a second dog and always imagined another puppy next and also a girl nextbut. He's so old and silly and small and SASSY he is so funny I love him.

Tying to psych myself up to castrate piglets is SO HARD. WHY DID THIS LITTER HAVE TO BE 4 BOYS

I DID IT. it was SO scary but actually.... not that hard. They were 2 weeks today and I think I'll do it earlier like at 1 week next time. Also I had considered doing this alone and I definitely could not have at this size lol. Thankfully I had enlisted my husband to restrain and he is strong.

Back nursing with mama right after.

Mom was SO MAD. Also they were kinda hard to catch. I'm sure they will hate me now lol. They don't eat food on their own yet so it may be hard to bribe them back to friendship

So. All boy litter thoughts:

Cons: I had to castrate them all -no one i deemed worth leaving intact they ALL have roses where the fur grows the wrong direction in a spot, which are just cosmetic but not desirable. Barrows aren't contributing to the gene pool/bettering the breed etc. Barrows sell for less = less return on my efforts here

Pros: if they don't sell, barrows are the least problematic to keep around so I don't have to tetris them around or process early. I'm predicting while barrows are cheaper they may sell more readily than boars since they are more versatile (better pets, good companions for other pigs, perfect to grow out for meat)

BUT. This has been overall such a more pleasant piglet experience with Natasha being a good momma also time of year weather wise? Chef kiss. Not too hot or cold not super rainy, its been nice not to worry. HOWEVER. I fear end of summer/beginning of fall might be a harder time frame to sell piglets in- people are probably thinking of reducing the number of mouths they have to feed over winter vs add to it.

I brought the piglets inside for this so hopefully mom would hear less, and it's obviously cleaner in my house than outside. We sent Earl out in his yard and I expected Junie to peace out quickly because piglets scream LOUD (we wore ear protection) but she was fascinated by them and sat and watched the whole time.
