happy international drag day!

this time last year, i posted my first pictures in drag face and i was waiting anxiously for my first gig. i made my drag debut at a local competition called rookie knights on october 8, 2025, and i won.

since then i've really gained momentum and i think i've proven i'm a stellar entertainer and a force to be reckoned with in our local scene. i had a regular spot in a monthly revue called buffalo's drag royalty, i co-hosted my first show, i marched in my first pride parade, and i earned second place in another competition where i faced off against 15 other rookie knights champions.

i'm also an academic who studies drag, and in the past year i had one chapter on drag published and another will be coming soon. my drag practice has been both generative for my research and also a welcome escape from my PhD program, a space where i can express my creativity without the confines and rigor of academia.

i love this art form so much, i am so proud to be a drag king
