Oh god, finally someone said it. Every time I see words like “jihadist” I want to scream, but I’m not Muslim, so I wasn’t sure I should say anything.

Jihad means struggle. It doesn’t mean holy war or anything like it. In fact, there is no word in Islam for holy war, because the nature of Islam does not leave room for holy war. Islam has a juridical system, not a Pope who can just say “Go wage holy war.” Conflating the personal nature of jihad with violence is so very gross and it needs to stop. Period.

in case i have any followers who don’t understand how Islamophobia is racialized and based in racism, look at this. Allahu Akbar is the same as “Our God is an awesome God,” something said in who knows how many churches all across this country at least once a week. Something said by much of the majority of Americans who are Christian and pray regularly. Something said by people who block the entrances of Planned Parenthood, some of whom also blow up, set fire to, drive vehicles into, and murder the doctors from. Yet, people across white Christian America get, with free license, to claim that those same words represent terrorism because they are in a different language, one which is heavily associated with black and brown people. I’ve read the Bible and the Quran in Arabic, and “God” is spelled the same way in both.

I’ve been telling everyone I know for YEARS not to buy Blue Buffalo.

This is the short story:

A few years ago I took my sick cat, Ankh, to the vet. The vet and vet tech asked what I fed her. I told them Blue Buffalo. They looked like I had just told them I fed her razor blades and cyanide. They diagnosed her with pancreatitis and said that nearly all of the cats they’d been seeing lately with pancreatitis were being fed Blue Buffalo. They gave her medicine and sent her home. Two days later she had a seizure and died right in my arms.

The day after she died Hannibal started displaying the same symptoms she had so I panicked hard and took him to the vet. Got the same meds and the same diagnosis. Luckily Hannibal survived.

I wish Ankh had survived. She was only ten and the best cat I’ve ever had. Literally the best and five years later I still cry when I think about her.

FUCK BLUE BUFFALO.

I don’t know the full story behind the tweets above, but a Google search shows there HAVE been several recalls regarding this brand, especially in 2016. I would absolutely avoid as it is not worth the risk.

When I was 16 I swallowed 3 bottles of extra strength pills in my school bathroom because I simply didn’t want to live anymore and I was tired, just so very tired. I couldn’t walk down the halls without being stared at and talked about because the school football team posted things about me online and eventually the rest of the bystanders joined in the harassment. But that’s not what I’m here to talk about, I’m here to talk about how the aftermath of your suicide will affect others in a way that you would never understand. Because you thought no one cared, but they did. So, here’s my story. I will never forget the look on my parents faces when they had to sit back and watch their little girl almost die from uncontrollable seizures. They had tear stained eyes and puffy cheeks. But what fucks me up the most was seeing my dad cry. I’ve only ever seen my dad cry twice. The first time was at his mothers funeral, and the second time was when I tried to end my life. One of the responding fire fighters was a coach from one of my sport teams. And for a fearless man who ran into burning homes as a job, he couldn’t move from the corner of the room because the successful athlete he watched grow up was dying in front of his eyes. My 2 best friends experienced the hardest part. They were the ones who found my limp unconscious body slouched up against the bathroom stall. They were the ones who had to be physically torn from my side because they didn’t want to let go of my hand. And to this day, they still have nightmares about that morning like it was yesterday. A girl from my school who had also tried to take her own life earlier in the year showed up at hospital bed and gave me the biggest hug. She cried as she tried to explain how great life is, that image is still stuck in my head. You see, it’s not about how many people will give a shit if you die. It’s about the ones who would, and how bad it would fuck them up for the rest of their lives. People care, and they always will. Suicide isn’t the cure to sadness.

i really hate making a post like this especially when im in distress like this but i could. really use some help ive been using the same contacts (a six month supply) for nearly two years and the unthinkable has happened, I’m finally down to only one contact, with no glasses as a back up. with my vision nearly gone in one eye now, it’ll be even harder to get, and keep a job. the reason im looking to get contacts is because my insurance runs out in about 6 months, and if this is the last time i’m going to be able to afford an eye exam for a while, contacts are the smarter option because my prescription won’t change as much as they would with glasses. the costs are as follows: - $60 contact fitting - $80 for a 12 month supply

if you can’t donate, i’d appreciate if you could reblog this! if i dont get enough for the eye fitting+new contacts, ill just have to use my 2 year old prescription, and thatll be that, but anything, absolutely anything would help.
