THE LICE ONE IS MAKING ME FUCKING CRY OH MY GOD
BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE
I can't BREATHE
When I was in the hospital, they gave me a big bracelet that said ALLERGY, but like. I'm allergic to bees. Were they going to prescribe me bees in there.
So there's a medication called hyaluronidase. It's used to make other medications absorb better, because it makes the cell wall more permeable.
One common usage is to make local anesthetic more effective during surgery, for instance. It's used in a number of injected medications.
Bee stings contain an enzyme very similar to this medication, so sometimes, people with bee allergies have an allergic reaction to hyaluronidase.
This is called cross-reactivity, where your body mistakes something for the thing it's actually allergic to, and has an allergic reaction anyway. For instance, sometimes people with latex allergies also are allergic to bananas and other fruits. They don't actually contain latex, but there are some similar proteins.
Apparently, hyraluronidase used in humans is derived from one of four sources: sheep testicles, cow testicles, cow testicles again, and GMO hamster ovaries.
tl;dr: They won't inject you with bees, but they might inject you with purified cow testicle juice, and your body might say 'eh, cow balls are BASICALLY bees' and try to kill you anyway.
The world is full of such beauty and wonder. Thank you for that sentence.
fantasy is so fun until you have to name your countries and make a map someone please end my misery
all you need to do is come up with 3-4 unique names. then come up with a meaning/translation for those names. now that you know what they mean, you can combine their elements with eachother and add new random sounds in.
eg: "mir/miel" means lake in my conlang, "da" means hill, and "guu" means bear. now that i know that i can name something daguu/guuda (bear hill) or guumir (bear lake). and i can go "hwa" (which means white but in this case pretend i came up with it at random) sounds good with "guu" so what if i name something hwaguu or hwaguumir? and then just repeat the process
some of the things i recommend having words for when it comes to naming locations:
- hill (you can have so many variants that mean hill)
- lake
- river/creek
- valley
- directional words (north, east, south, west)
- road/path
- forest/wood
- clearing/plain
- rock/cliff
it doesn't have to be extremely overwhelming! you can just start with a few small and common words and slowly expand
countries are definitely a bit harder then average place names, but they usually name themselves either after the people who live there or something symbolic!
a fun little read, sometimes only covers their exonyms in english though, let me see if i can find one that goes into country's names in their native languages
still not quite what i was looking for, but covers groups of people!
this is closer to what i was looking for, it shows the countries' endonym and english exonym next to eachother which is a good start, but doesnt provide a translation of meanings. better than nothing though
country names... have meanings... oh my god that makes everything so much easier
Saving for reference.
A quick hack for cool sounding names is to just splice finnish words together Combine mälli and vuori into Marivuolli Then just roll from there
i like tumblr lives because the thumbnail is always an absolutely beautiful person doing a thirst trap but then you join and it's a human person with good and bad angles and ngl everything should be this way
i don't understand how people on twitch lives remain aesthetic throughout the entire duration of the lives
like how do you manage that
it's different from prerecording a video
humans have bad angles

why did they take so long to invent cum
start a conversation with someone by saying
so, what brings you to this cursed realm (earth)?
what is your business in the land of mortals?
whenever we talk about fictional world such as dark souls' world, we understand it to be a realm where suffering runs rampant and only cursed events happen
and we could be doing the same kind of world building for earth
religions do that. they consider earth to be the mortal, neutral, chaotic and inferior realm, and rightfully so. if you think about it, while joy is possible on earth, everything is always going wrong.
why do bad things happen in such big scale? how is it possible that so many people decided to engage on large scale warfare so many times through history? why did slavery and colonialism run rampant for so long? how did it happen that the royalty and the church held power over the peasants for centuries? why is the world organized in such a way that someone can sit on top of billions of cash made by people who can barely afford to live? what is the chance of so many coincidences happening that tension between countries resulted in the first world war, which resulted in the second world war, which resulted in the cold war, which results in the US imperialism and hegemony? there were millions of humans involved in every step of the way, there were millions of people with hopes for a good joyful life, and that could have shifted the events towards a peaceful direction. and yet, the outcome is just the opposite, suffering for all
earth is the realm of contradiction
no matter what happens, earth will find a configuration where humanity will hurt itself in large scale, the greatest contradiction of all
you, there, stands atop a cursed realm. there is no hope of ever solving the contradiction, but you can read its currents, ride them or gracefully step out of its tendrils as you please, and lead a life of joy as the world falls apart around you
you have been blessed with the gift of choice
what is your next move?

One thing I find stylistically interesting about Adventure Time is that the show is very fast and loose with the idea of physical distance. If you tried to make a map of OOO, you could block it out in a general sense, but travel times, geographic placement and the like are fairly fluid, prone to alteration based on the needs of the plot or a gag. It's in the premise of the show- you travel to distant lands, every episode. You have some deranged community or dungeon or landmark pop up in every episode, limited priority given to where they all exist in relation to each other as their numbers swell. And the consistent Landmarks- The tree-house, the Ice King's mountain, the Candy Kingdom- have a real "map marker" vibe to them, like they were set down in a vast, decontextualized expanse. The geographic and logistical squishyness is on some level part of the worldbuilding rather than working against it- this is the kind of world that our world turned into. This is just how it works now, and on some level this was how it always worked. Roll with it. Compared to, say, Steven Universe- which superficially has something similar going on with how the Gems seem to glob-trot from locale to locale, but is quietly much more attentive to the narrative implications of their global teleportation network, is much more consistent in cataloguing where everything exists in relation to everything else, much more stringently models how Beach City works and how it sustains itself economically even as the whacky Saturday Morning Cartoon Hijinks happen in and around it. A whacky patina over a deceptively logistically grounded core. The difference in their respective approaches compels me.
I like the idea of this concept not being just a writing device and instead actually being canon, something similar to what happens on Pirates of the Caribbean.
In PotC, the end of the world doesn't exist unless you have directions and is trying to get there. If you aren't trying to, you just go around the world.
I like the idea that those landmarks in adventure time (tree house, ice king's mountain, candy kingdom) could be real and always exist but everything else in between them is passive of change. The world has infinite possibility for adventure but none of it is canon unless someone goes looking for it. Anyone could go from the ice mountain straight to the fire kingdom and only see vegetation. But Finn is looking for more, so for every distant land or dungeon Finn finds about, there's more in the world than there was before.
The world canonically increasing in size over time scratches a good itch on my brain. Especially when how big the world is depends on who you are and what you are looking for.
one must imagine the one piece is real

scientists who came up with quantum mechanics be like > do experiments > do statistics > measure error ok but what if there's no error and the probabilities themselves are real
can't wait until the machines figure out everything there is to known and we can use all of our time in more important things such as getting silly hee hoo
i think pretty much everyone is focused on delegitimizing AI through discourse "AI art isn't art" is the only point people make since last year but sike, companies don't really care, the models can be open sourced and available for anyone, and people will still lose their jobs lmao more like, not only companies, nobody really cares about the discourse the only people who care are the ones in your tumblr bubble the focus has to be on what can be done about it and how to prevent the worst consequences of AI for example reducing work hours and introducing UBI unionizing to prevent abuse of AI in the art industry start to use AI to bring about your artistic vision while also doing it faster
but whenever you bring those things up, people don't take them well at all AI brings about both a crisis of meaning/passion and an existential threat in the form of unemployment so it's kind of a taboo topic
i thought i could be the one to deliver it to a friend so they didn't get their hopes up and hit a wall months/years later, but maybe it shouldn't have to be me they got super upset
solidarity to my fellow cis men for bearing the burden of being ugly
