fun thing about tobacco pipes: they were frequently used for things other than smoking, including murder and catheters
statistically, these murders were male aggressor and male victim, were largely resulting in head & neck piercing wounds (except for one reported penis attack and a couple of other burns and locations, etc.), in places of entertainment (ie pubs), between people who knew each other, and were working class.
the catheter usage is more underreported, but the few cases i did read seemed to skew towards women
