I am the most hands off, casual Star Wars fan alive. I’m not here to get into discourse about lightsaber cross guards, I’m not here to bitch and moan because Acolyte didn’t perfectly represent how bleeding a kyber crystal works, I’m here to watch cool people fly cool spaceships, shoot cool space guns, and swing cool space swords. I’m not here to pretend Star Wars is high art or anything more than cool action set pieces linked together by sometimes odd but overall serviceable story beats.

That. Being. Said.

The amount of people who seem to just be writing off The Mandolorian and Grogu on principle as just “More Star Wars Disneyslop” without even watching it as far I can tell is genuinely pissing me off. I saw that movie opening night. And you wanna know what it was? It was a good movie. It wasn’t great, it wasn’t redefining cinema, but it also wasn’t bad, it wasn’t single-handedly dismantling the industry. It’s just good. It has good jokes, great action, and a story that was completely functional. It was simple. It was predictable. But it was good. It was a good movie. Stop acting like just because it’s Disney-made and has a lot of CGI it’s automatic swamp muck. Actually watch movies before you have opinions on their quality. And if you still don’t like it after you watched it, THEN we can have a discussion on why you think it’s Quality-Slop or whatever asinine title you assigned to it from looking at a trailer.

I’ve also heard that the new live action Masters of the Universe movie is doing poorly at the box office, and I theorize it’s for a similar reason. I saw that one opening night too!!! It was also good!!! I feel like people are so easy to write things off nowadays, and I think that’s stupid. The world is a hellish place right now, we all need to be injecting a little bit of goofy summer action blockbusters into our eyes to keep our whimsy intact. Get your head out of your ass and watch the campy sci-fi fantasy movies!!! It’s good for your soul!!!

While I do mostly agree with and enjoy this interpretation, I feel the need to point out that just because it said “their” doesn’t automatically mean it can’t have been referring to Asriel. “They/Them” pronouns obviously can be used to refer to people outside the gender binary, and are used in such ways all the time, but like, they can also be used to just. Refer to people regardless of gender identity. Being non-gender specific terms that could apply to anyone was like, one of the reasons the words were invented, and they are ALSO used in such ways all the time.

Sorry if this seems entirely unnecessary I’ve just been slowly noticing a weird trend where some people seem to think that “They” and its derivatives can only ever be used to refer to genderqueer people and that to refer to a person as “they” is to either imply they identify as such or that you think they do (Not a hypothetical by the way, I once said “they” when talking about my niece and my sister corrected me by saying “she”) but that’s just, not how that works. Words can have multiple uses or meanings. That is one of the beauties of language.

Someone needs to teach the Minecraft community what a mini-boss is because none of them seem to know and it’s starting to piss me off. The Warden and Elder Guardians are not bosses. If they were bosses, they’d have health bars, as is established by the Ender Dragon and Wither. The Elder Guardians are mini-bosses and The Warden is barely even a mini-boss because it’s meant to be avoided not fought. The Warden is closer to whatever you’d call Mr. X in the Resident Evil 2 remake. Either way, definitely closer to mini-boss than full boss, that’s for sure. They’re also far simpler than either of the true bosses. The Ender Dragon and Wither have multiple phases and multiple strong, destructive, interesting attacks. The Elder Guardians are just big guardians who passively inflict a status effect and The Warden has 1 (one) attack that sets it apart from other mobs. Raids are closer to real boss fights than Elder Guardians or The Warden.
