Because, and here's the important part...this is the same process that those people you claim can't work on it are already using to work on it.

Claiming that people in that situation aren't able to work on learning how to process emotions isn't just wrong, it also strips people of their agency by classifying them as people who can never learn to manage their own emotional state.

When you are affected by a personality disorder, there are two general phases to how you work through it:

Acknowledge it. One of the primary criterion for diagnosing someone with a personality disorder is that they do not recognize the problem or are unwilling to acknowledge it. Step one is always recognizing how your brain works and accepting that you may be different from the neurotypical majority.

Work to learn coping skills and other kinds of coping mechanisms that you can use to manage your emotional state.

People with BPD can learn to reassure themselves that they aren't hated. Someone with depression can learn that there are times they should ignore their inner voice when it decides to tell them they suck. This even applies to people with anti-social personality disorder and society has collectively decided those people are permanently Evil with a capital E. People with ASPD are capable of learning how to develop skills that let them compensate for their disorder and live healthy and socially well-balanced lives.

I get the desire to oppose ableism, but this is a good example of zealousness that leads you to spreading misinformation. It's not true, everyone can learn how to better live with their emotional mind.

Note: This post is about the shellcord/shellcell drama and its connection to the Weekly Magmas (WM). My main goal is to spread awareness and share my perspective on a situation that, in my opinion, is being largely ignored.

You know? I don’t like creating drama, but I’ve been seeing something happening in the fandom that doesn’t feel normal to me, and most people seem to be overlooking it. Maybe I’m overreacting, but at the same time, by making this post, I want you to know that I’m speaking on behalf of several other adults in the fandom who are also concerned about this situation. I’ll explain it, and then I’ll let you draw your own conclusions.

Are you familiar with the shellcord/shellcell drama? If not, I encourage you to look into the case, which involves grooming allegations and other forms of misconduct.

The main person accused is The Aviary/Abyssal (a groomer), but there were others involved as well, and most of them are no longer very active in the fandom… except for Chila (@/chil-aglia, who has multiple blogs). She was accused, with supporting evidence, of sending two explicit images to minors, engaging in inappropriate roleplay with a minor, continuously defending Abyssal both before and after the grooming allegations, and more. I know firsthand that Chila’s behavior had a negative impact on the victims. Despite all of this, she remains very active in the fandom and continues to participate in the WM on a fairly regular basis.

Although these events took place on a Discord server, what happened there was not normal, and it should not be minimized under any circumstances. So… why is Chila still allowed to participate in the WM?

Note: The weekly magmas (WM, @/weeklymagmas) is a fandom event that has become very popular, and I still believe it’s something very positive in itself. Artists of all ages collaborating and motivating each other to keep the fandom alive. My criticism is not directed at the WM itself.

I help moderate for different servers, and we tend to not let outside drama get dragged in. Grooming/pedophilia/sending inappropriate imagery to minors is the exception. My moderator team spoke to the minors involved and we believe them.

I don't know what they can possibly think is good enough proof to absolve her, but they should share it because keeping it secret and refusing to address the situation makes them look like they would rather protect pedophiles than minors and victims. They can't avoid 'drama' by not saying anything. Just having a known groomer allowed in brings it to their doorstep.

Even beyond Chila's actions towards minors herself, she was dating the main transgressor of the document, who even the ones who run Weekly Magma admit to not wanting on their server. She continued to support Abyssal rather than taking the side of Abyssal's victims. You can't 'both sides' a groomer and their victims. Which is why her minimizing the situation as 'internet drama' to gain sympathy from her followers is abhorrent and duplicitous.

If you don't believe she sent inappropriate imagery to minors, here she's blatantly minimizing the actions of someone who did and making out the children who were victimized by her partner's actions to be unfairly cutting ties to her when at the very least, she continued to support their abuser, and at the most, she abused some of them too.

She knows the situation is serious but she chose to minimize it so her followers would give her sympathy and try to make her feel better, when there were victims who actually needed that sympathy and comfort from her. They didn't know she hurt any of them at first. They thought she was a friend and needed support desperately, but she wants to claim victimhood instead of the victims she refused to help.

Why would you trust a person who minimizes her own actions for sympathy over the victims of her actions? Especially when said actions involved a groomer? Especially when she sent inappropriate images sent to minors too?
