thinking about how when you experience a lot of shame in your formative years (indirectly, directly, as abuse or just as an extant part of your environment) it becomes really difficult to be perceived by other people in general. the mere concept of someone watching me do anything, whether it's a totally normal activity or something unfamiliar of embarrassing, whether I'm working in an excel spreadsheet or being horny on main, it just makes my skin crawl and my brain turn to static because I cannot convince myself that it's okay to be seen and experienced. because to exist is to be ashamed and embarrassed of myself, whether I'm failing at something or not, because my instinctive reaction to anyone commenting on ANYTHING I'm doing is to crawl into a hole and die. it's such a bizarre and dehumanizing feeling to just not be able to exist without constantly thinking about how you are being Perceived. ceaseless watcher give me a god damn break.

This post is so fucking distressing as an old man that has had emulators and full romsets on their computers since the 90s. Reading these comments is slightly crushing. This was ALWAYS here. People have been working TIRELESSLY to preserve video game history, to keep games actually playable. The above mod pack is comically small, you can very easily find full romsets of more or less every console out there, most aren't more than a few hundred MB (it only gets unweildly when you get to like CD based games). Maybe more if you get one of the romsets that has like, every region release for every game and hundreds of mahjong games and stuff but idk. Go to Zophar's domain. It's not perfect, but it's been around for a million years: there you will find emulators for anything that play ON anything (phones have emulators on them, too!) If you just google search "_____ rom", you'll find it. Torrenting romsets is so easy, but if you just want a few specific games, you can just google them. If you use common sense and have an adblocker etc., most of the big websites that will come up first on a search are absolutely fine to go to. Download your games. And then, for good measure, go to MyAbandonware.com and give them a browse.
