hahah remember that one time when your friend, who was way cooler and smarter than you, convinced you that if you changed your hair and cut 2cm off of your limbs then other people would like you more, or at least stop using motion analysis software to profile and shoot at you?

That friend was definitely an asshole.

I spent a bunch of the day in an MRI so this horrible ¾ down view into ART’s MedSystem is dedicated to that. I would say drawing the complex portions of spaceships is more fun if you’re actively thinking of the entire room as a character, but honestly it’s not. It’s not fun. I had to redraw everything 5 times. (And “9a8b617ab7ee7247ab” is pretty rude but you’ll have to convert it back to binary and then to ascii.) I added the original tiny ballpoint pen sketch so you can see the drift of composition over those 5 re-draws; like all idiots my concept of where ART is slowly drifts up to the ceiling, even though that makes no sense when ART is actually the floor and the walls and the drones. There’s also apparently a lot more shit in ART’s Medical bay but we have reached diminishing returns on my architectural attention span.

Mališa, otherwise known as Little One, is a pet pigeon owned by a conservative butler of the Austro-Hungarian aristocracy. She is loved, and she is pampered— until her owner is murdered in cold blood, and she is left to fend for herself in Sarajevo.

In the wilds of the city, she feeds from the poor, working nationalist radicals, and the vieux riches alike.

To Mališa, there are no ethical concerns. No politics. No burgeoning nationalism.

ART had stayed quiet the whole time. A quick peek at our private feed showed me that it had frozen, almost every bit of its enormous processing power at a dead standstill, nearly all of its attention pointing at me.  Fuck, fuck, fuck.  Ten seconds passed. Then twenty. I could feel ART hovering and didn’t trust myself to speak without yelling, so I gritted my teeth and forced myself to speak over the feed: Fuck you.  ART didn’t respond for a full five seconds.

I love statistics and you 🫵 love them too. Let's look at some numbers from the event so far:

a total of 70 people signed up as creators

10 of those creators have since dropped out – no shame, life happens. We still appreciate their interest in participating!

5 creators have claimed a second prompt, and 1 has claimed a third

59 creators completed the second check-in, and 20 have completed the third check-in so far

66 prompts have been claimed, from 42 individual prompt requesters

the 119 remaining unclaimed prompts will be released for everyone to peruse at their leisure following the end of the event

14 creators gave permission to the mods to share teasers of their work prior to the collection reveal
