*getting too in the weeds of the worldbuilding of a horny tumblr post* Okay I get that you're saying princess, but honestly the dynamic you're describing here seems more like you want to be a duchess or even a lower noble
This has nothing to do with historical accuracy by the way. It's about the genre conventions and the internal logic of the scenario. If you wanna be a princess getting kidnapped by a dragon or running of to faerie, go for it. If you wanna be a prize locked away in a tower, or an aspiring despot, be a princess.
If you want to have an intense homoerotic rivalry with another girl you met at magical boarding school, you're the daughter of a marquis at best.

Here's an idea about why kids are so anxious and depressed all the time...the environments kids are in most of the time are very stressful and don't fulfill their needs for play, rest, proper variety of foods, positive social opportunities, and freedom from fear pain punishment etc
Like everyone with any basic understanding of animal welfare knows that if you put an animal in an enclosure that is too crowded, without hiding spots, with no freedom to move around, no ability to avoid harsh and stressful stimuli, and scare it by shouting at it and punishing it, the animal will become stressed and start chewing its own fur off or hurting itself or become sick or unable to eat...
But we expect human children to grow up in these conditions and literally blame them when they develop the exact type of problems that any creature under those conditions would
"My mum won't let me" Okay I am 30 goddamn years old and I still have this thought so let's walk through it together.
What's the worst that can happen if you do it anyway? Genuinely. The literal worst. Catastrophise about it with me for a sec.
Will your mum yell at you? You're an adult. Yelling at fellow adults is Not Okay Actually. (Yelling at kids is also not okay but let's take this one step at a time.) If your mum is yelling at you, a fellow adult, she's the one being weird and out of line. You asked your friend and they said so too (me. I'm the friend.)
Will she cut off your phone plan? That would be a problem. Can you look into whether you can afford to switch to a new plan she doesn't have access to? Most phone companies will let you port your number over pretty easily.
Will she cut you off financially? Run the numbers again. Can you afford for that to happen? If the answer is no, that's okay, I believe you and I know you're making the best decision for your own well-being that you can in the moment. If there's anything you can do to make it more affordable, I do suggest doing that, though.
Will she be physically violent, inclusive of breaking stuff that belongs to you? Thatās assault. That's a crime. It's not okay for her to do that and she almost certainly knows it.
Will she stop talking to you? Honestly I gotta say at this point that's not sounding like a bad outcome. It sucks. It really really sucks and I'm sorry if that's a choice you're having to make, but take it from someone who's been there and done that: when someone who is being abusive to you (stalking is abuse! Yelling at you is abuse! Threatening to cut off your funds if you don't do what they want forever is abuse! Breaking your stuff or physically hurting you is abuse!) decides of their own volition to cut you off, it hurts for a hot minute, and then you suddenly realise that you can breathe, and it feels so. Goddamn. Amazing.

These data tables show the top 250 canonical fandom tags on Archive of Our Own, ranked by the total number of public non-subtag works.
[Full transcription of the above data available in the AO3 version.]
What do you mean by canonical fandom tags?
On AO3, a canonical tag is one that has been recognised by the tag wranglers as an official part of the site's tag system. These are the only tags which appear in the drop-down suggestion list when posting a work. Fandom tags are one of the main categories of AO3 tag and lists showing all canonical fandom tags can be found here.
What do you mean by total works?
This is an "All Time" Top 250 list, showing the total number of works posted over the whole lifetime of the site up until the data was gathered (10th August 2026).
What do you mean by public works?
This dataset only includes public/unlocked works, or works that are visible to users viewing the site without an account.Ā This is because I do not believe it is ethical to collect data on works that creators have chosen to mark as not for public access.
The number of works will be higher - around 15% higher on average - for tags viewed while logged in to an account. Recreating this data to include private works would cause some changes in the rankings, particularly for fandoms where are large proportion of works are marked private, such as RPF fandoms.
What do you mean by non-subtag works?
Some tags on AO3 have a "subtag" relationship, which means that all works in the subtag also count in the tag listings for the larger "metatag". For instance all works in "Marvel Cinematic Universe" are also listed in the "Marvel" fandom. This means that ranking by the total shown at the top of a tag tends to produce a list where the largest tags are those with the most large subtags, and it also means a single tagging can count towards multiple fandoms' totals.
In order to avoid this issue, I have instead taken the work totals shown in the "Sort and Filter" menu, which show the total number of works for each tag and its synonyms without counting uses of subtags. Using the example above, this means a work which is only tagged "Marvel Cinematic Universe" will only be counted towards that total. However, a work which is tagged with both "Marvel Cinematic Universe" and "Marvel" will still count towards both totals. This data shows the total number of times that a user has entered each fandom tag on a work, regardless of any other fandom tags which may have been used.
This is only one possible way to approach the issue of gathering data on the popularity of fandom tags, and other valid methodologies exist.
People who like weird, barely describable versions of incest-adjacent shipping should watch Foundation. There are clones at different ages who call each other ābrotherā but also assume parental roles over their younger counterparts. And a centuries-old robot adopting a mother and lover role for them. And a mother and daughter who end up being the same age due to cryosleep tech who connect deeply despite not being raised within a mother/daughter dynamic with each other. And whatever is happening between Seldon, his protege/surrogate āfamilyā and explicit daughter figure Gaal Dornick, and the man she loved who was also Seldonās surrogate son, Raych.

au where Jason is the one to deliver Damian to Bruce but he and Damian get into an argument on the drive over about how good at stealth missions Damian is and it ends in Jason double-dog daring him to skip the whole 'introduction' aspect of going to live with Bruce and instead to just sneak into the manor and see how long he can go unnoticed for.
Damian's claim is that the manor is so big and Damian's so good at remaining hidden that he could live in the manor without anybody else there clocking him easy. Jason just wants to see how long he can actually go because in his mind the longer Bruce goes without realising he has Damian in the house, the funnier the reveal will be. he's actually kinda rooting for Damian purely because it's funnier if he pulls it off for a really long time first. then Jason can snitch on him and the fall-out will be glorious.
he lasts about four months.
two weeks in and Alfred becomes suspicious, but chooses to believe that it's raccoons or pigeons in the attic because then he doesn't have to get involved. and he really doesn't want to get involved.
a month in and Damian almost gets caught by Tim while trying to steal some food in the middle of the night and getting cornered in the kitchen, but Tim hadn't slept in three days and was high on cold medicine at the time so he assumed that Damian was actually a hallucination of Bruce as a child, and all he did was stare Damian directly in the eye and solemnly tell him 'never ask your parents to go see a movie with you.' before going to pass out in the study.
two months in and Damian has gotten into a rhythm with it. feeling unchallenged, he starts waiting for Bruce to fall asleep in front of the batcomputer during hard cases so he can sneak out from the walls and fix whatever Bruce is getting wrong and solving the case before he wakes up.
three months in and Dick runs into him while sneaking in through a side door so he can grab some stuff from his bedroom without having to talk to Bruce, but Damian bullshits that he's one of Tim's school friends visiting to complete a school project, and Dick gives him twenty dollars to promise that he won't tell anybody Dick is in the building.
four months in and he gets cocky; starts ordering packages to the manor addressed to himself. Alfred asks Bruce at the dinner table why they've received an amazon package for 'Damian Wayne' and nobody knows what the fuck he's talking about. the next night the Red Hood snitches and asks how 'Damian's doing' and Bruce becomes convinced that Hood has the manor bugged. demands a full sweep of the building. Tim comes across Damian napping in a hammock in the attic wearing Tim's presumed-lost clothes next to a pile of supremely confidential files stolen from the batcave.
Damian wakes up and promptly tells them all that they aren't allowed to be mad because the statute of limitations for breaking and entering has passed already. Jason laughs so hard he cries.
call me australian but i just think that everyone should be required to vote and every municipality should have the obligation to make it as easy for everyone to vote as possible
The problem is that people always start with "everyone should be required to vote". That HAS TO BE step 2. Otherwise you've just created an infinite torture dungeon where the government will require poor people/minorities crawl over broken glass to vote and then arrests everyone who fails. And that's before we get into "make it illegal to vote and also arrest you if you don't."
And what do you know, if you make it easy for everyone to vote FIRST, you might not have to make it mandatory to vote after all.
The Elsanna fandom of a decade ago was a group of young, queer Disney fans who longed to see themselves reflected in something, anything, and built a ship around that. We're taking these characters we see aspects of our personalities in - Elsa's self-hatred, Anna's insecurity, both longing to be loved - and making it our own. If we're defiling an innocent Disney property in the process, so be it, we're spitting back the demonization we always get back in their faces. But yeah, there was an innocence when the fandom began. Queer Disney fans trying to make a place for themselves, propriety be damned. That's why it's a popular ship.
I don't think Jocasta Nu gets enough credit for this moment where she purges the entire Jedi Archive data to keep the Empire from being able to access that trove of knowledge for their purposes:
It's just the valor of surviving Order 66, somehow, impossibly getting away, and yet still coming back into her gutted home-turned-tomb to do this excruciating, ultimate act of sacrifice. Destroying this last physical manifestation of her people's culture, identity, and her own life's work. It's such a Jedi moment: letting something deeply important go, not out of apathy or coldness, but to protect others.
Jocasta as a character is so defined by her exchange in AotC, telling Obi-Wan that if something isn't in the Jedi Archives, it doesn't exist. So many fans have interpreted that as to stand for the arrogance of the Jedi, not the pride in her life's work collecting and maintaining a resource as incredible and massive as the Jedi Archives. I think this act is even more powerful answer to those charges; far from Jocasta Nu being a posterchild for the Jedi doggedly clinging to an institution for the sake of itself, she's willing to throw all of that away in an instant if it means one less weapon for the Empire.

as a kid, i really didn't appreciate how funny PJO's "Mr. D" was.
like when i heard at age 8 there was a god of wine i was like: lol that's random. is there one for sprite too? and my teacher tried to explain it was more than that but clearly wasn't sure how to do that will being Age Appropriate. so when i heard "god of parties" i'm imagining like unwrapping gifts and cutting cake.
but no no no. They took Dionysus, Greek god of booze, drugs, and ritual madness...
and punished him by making him perpetual chaperone of 9-17 year olds
like cutting off the god of wine from alcohol is already pretty cruel, but the rest of it is honestly worse and/or funnier
