The Cippus Perusinus, a stone tablet with one of the longest known Etruscan inscriptions on it, 3rd century BCE. The text describes an arrangement between two families for the use of a tomb. The Etruscan alphabet, a relative of the Greek and Roman scripts, faded as Latin became the primary language of the Roman Empire (with Greek as the second language learned by educated people). It was likely no longer in use by the year 0.

See that picture above? Thatâs a close up of my great grandmotherâs immigration papers when she first came to the US back in the early 20th century. But my great grandmaâs information isnât the important part here. The important part is that line in the middle there about how they arrived in the country.
And how âstowawayâ is a legitimate, valid option to select.
So yeah. They absolutely just showed up, and that part of immigration history needs to be talked about a lot more.
REMINDER THAT TRAVEL VISAS AS WE KNOW THEM TODAY WERE INVENTED IN THE 1930S TO KEEP JEWISH REFUGEES OUT OF COUNTRIES THAT DID NOT WANT ANÂ âINFLUXâ OF THEM, THEREBY FACILITATING THEIR GENOCIDE :)))))
read What is A Refugee for more history. Educate yourselves.

Hey hey! I bring news about Chile. Instead of solving the issues or talking to the people the government declared a curfew.
Cops and Military have killed at least 4 people, you know 4 unarmed unprotected people.
The last time this happened was in Chileâs dictatorship which ended in 1988. We are now in a ââdemocracyâ
I donât know whatâs gonna happen the following days aside from more national protests.
Sure!
For the last years Chileâs cost of living has increased quite a lot.
Electricity bills, water privatization, student debt, pensions are really low, etc.
Last week in was announced that the metro fare would increase again. Which means that now is around 1,5 USD, BUT keep in mind that the minimum wage in Chile is around 300USD, for someone who ears minimum wage transportation only takes around 20% of their income. 50% of the population earns minimum wage.
Plus all of this, the ministers of economy made fun of the people and showed 0 empathy. Saying that âwhy donât you take the metro at 5 am, when itâs cheaperâ (itâs not peak hours obviously)
All this anger accumulation resulted in students evading the metro fare, which started a nationwide protest.
Instead of trying to solve the issue the president allowed military on the streets to repress people.
Now the increase of the fare has been âfrozenâ but since itâs not enough protests have kept going.
I tried to resume it as best as I can đ but basically, the metro fare was the straw that broke the camelâs back. Now itâs a general discomfort protest.
People are sharing this. Which resumes it perfectlyÂ

ÂĄREVOLUCIĂN!
The flag on the top is the mapuche flag. Mapuches are indigenous people who get constantly killed in the hand of cops. The goverment constantly silence us and killing us. This fight is for also us, mapuches. Remember that

Uighur Muslims are currently being persecuted and forcibly detained in Chinese camps where they remain as prisoners, forced into labor and tortured. This is all because there is a crackdown on the Muslim population in China. New reports reveal that Uighur Muslims are shackled, transported, and having their organs harvested.
PSA: the main reason that Britain never had a European-style mass fascist movement in the 1930s is because socialists, Jews, trade unionists, black folk and queer people physically dismantled the Blackshirt movement in its infancy by disrupting meetings, toppling stages and assaulting prominent fascists. This meant it never reached critical mass as a street gang capable of controlling public space and providing a pole of attraction for white, working-class youth - a fundamental precondition for the exercise of political power independent of the state by fascist Parties.
my maternal grandfather grew up in a south london working class jewish community and has told me so many stories about this! <3
DIRECT ACTION WORKS
ATTACKING NAZIS WORKS
All the pathetic fools who say that âPunching Nazis isnât the answerââŚhistory says otherwise
Violence is ABSOLUTELY the answer to the problem of Nazi terrorists infesting a country
Beating the living shit out of every single Nazi or gathering of Nazis that dares to slither out from beneath its rock IS the answerÂ
MAKE NAZIS AFRAID AGAIN
A lot of Nazi rallies in the US were cancelled last year because those cowards feared for their safety, so beating the shit out of these assholes actually works
It is absolutely an effective tactic at destroying the efforts of these nazi scum to spread their filth
Advocate genocide, get punched in the head on live television. Seems fair to me. They absolutely SHOULD fear for their safety, seeing as they make other fear for their lives every time one of these rallies pops up.
You donât give âfair and equal timeâ to fascists.
You put on your boots, you pick up a bat, and you make it clear: NOT ON MY WATCH.

Katie Porter: Youâve got about 15 thousand contractors watching murders, stabbings, suicides, other gruesome disgusting videos for content moderation, correct?
Mark Zuckerberg: Congresswoman, yes, I believe that thatâs correct.
Katie Porter: You pay many of those workers under $30 thousand a year, and youâve cut them off from mental health care when they leave the company, even if they have PTSD because of their work for your company. Is that correct?
Mark Zuckerberg: Congresswoman, my understanding is we pay everyone, including the contractors associated with the company, at least a $15 minimum wage, in markets, in cities where thereâs a high cost of living, thatâs a $20 minimum wage. We go out of our wayâ
Katie Porter: Thank you, Iâll take your word at the wage. Reclaiming my time. According to one report I have, and this is straight out of an episode of Black Mirror, these workers get nine (*nine*) minutes of supervised wellness time per day. That means nine minutes to cry in the stairwell while somebody watches them. Would you be willing to commit to spending one hour a day, for the next year, watching these videos and acting as a content moderator, and only accessing the same benefits available to your workers?
Mark Zuckerberg: Congresswoman, we work hard to make sure we give good benefits to all the folks who are doing thisâ
Katie Porter: Mr. Zuckerberg, reclaiming my time, I would appreciate a yes or a no. Would you be willing to act as a content moderator? To have that life experience?
Mark Zuckerberg: Iâm not sure it would best serve our community for me to spend that much timeâ
Katie Porter: Reclaiming my time. Mr. Zuckerberg, are you saying youâre not qualified to be a content monitor?
Mark Zuckerberg: No, Congresswoman, thatâs not what Iâm saying.
Katie Porter: Okay, then youâre saying youâre not willing to do it.
Video of the transcript above is here and itâs fantastic.

âthe school District was ONLY desegregated in 2017.â Just 2 years ago?!
Iâm so sick of this. She better win her lawsuit.
ONLY DESEGREGATED IN 2017? Did I just read that with my own two eyes?
Jesus H Christ America.
Fun fact: Mississippi only ratified the 13th Amendment banning slavery in 2013. The amendment was adopted nationwide in 1865 after a three-fourths majority of states voted to ratify it, but Mississippi never submitted the official documentation until February 7, 2013. (All other states had already done so.) This means that Mississippi didnât officially abolish slavery until 6 years ago.
For more Mississippi madness, check out the documentary âProm Night in Mississippi,â about a high school that integrated in 1970 but only had its first racially integrated prom in 2008.
why are y'all surprised about school segregation? mine was segregated until 2010. itâs still extremely common in the South, they just find workarounds. even in counties where they ban segregation they simply only test white students for the gifted program and use school of choice programs to continue to segregate schools.

There might be hope for our oceans, thanks to one clumsy moment in a coral tank.
It typically takes coral 25 to 75 years to reach sexual maturity. With a new coral fragmentation method, it takes just 3.
Seventy years ago today, on Dec. 10, 1948, The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was approved almost unanimously by the nations of the world. Â
It remains a beacon of hope for individual rights and respect for the rule of law even in more difficult times. The University of Minnesota Law School strongly supports this tradition, particularly through the work of its Human Rights Center.
The full text, available at the United Nations, is worth a read. The image above is from a copy of the Universal Declaration printed for the Human Rights Center.Â
