Hmmm. I’m thinking about their size difference. Thinking about how Ian is just strong enough to pick Mickey up. It starts as a sex thing, right? Ian bending his knees and leaning back a bit while hooking his arms under Mickey’s legs and bringing them along his back, spreading his palms beneath his shoulders and taking up as much surface area as he can while Mickey clings on for dear life around his neck. I feel like Mickey would complain about it a little, pretending to feel infantilized by that level of manhandling at first. But that would be short-lived, as it’s impossible for him to deny how into that show of strength he is, Ian’s muscles flexing and straining with effort.
But there’s also just something appealing about the feeling of being held up, something about it that makes him feel taken care of. So it keeps happening, Ian occasionally hauling Mickey up off the bed and holding him like that. But then Mickey starts looking for that contact outside of sex too, just enjoying the feeling of being held up in Ian’s arms. He learns that if they’re kissing and he’s got his arms wound around Ian’s neck he can jump up and wrap his legs around Ian’s waist, and Ian will catch him with his hands under his ass and pull him up a bit more, getting his legs wrapped around him more securely. And it just feels nice to be in the air like that, held up just by Ian’s strength, ankles locked behind Ian’s back. It’s a little addictive. So Mickey starts doing it when they’re just flirting and joking around too, jumping up once in a while just to see if Ian can catch him when he’s not expecting it. He always does.

Ian and Mickey’s first kiss is so cute. It’s so innocent, such a brief, stolen moment, just for them. The camera does show it to us, but it’s dark, it’s brief, it’s blink and you miss it.
I also like how Mickey ran in, kissed Ian, looked like he was going to pull away after a millisecond, decided he liked it, kissed him harder and then came to his senses and high-tailed it out of there.
And then proceeded to flip him off.
And Ian looking so confused but immediately kissing back and then having that “omg omg” moment as soon as Mickey ran out-

It's been such a weird month for fic reading for me. I read loads, in terms of both words and fics, but I had a kind of mental block about bookmarking stuff.
Then I decided to reread Cooperative Gameplay, which is always a good plan! And I've been interspersing each chapter with a couple of short fics (less than 10k), which has been a nice way to clear some open tabs and keep my reading more varied.
I still have a couple of big bang fics to read, but my brain rebelled so I took a break to read something else for a bit until I'm ready to come back to those.
So! Overall I've read about 625k words from 41 fics, including a decent mix of longer and shorter and WIPs (and that's not even including all the Tumblr fics and WIP snippets I've been reading 😆).

EMT Ian is so annoyed that he's going to be filmed on the job, until he meets the cameraman. Well, actually even then. It's not exactly enemies to lovers, but there's definitely a fun bit of antagonism at the start. Then there are some lovely sweet moments for Mickey and Ian separately and together.

This is only the first three chapters so far, so I almost didn't bookmark it yet, but it's so good! The Milkoviches are in a band and Mandy brings her best friend Ian on tour... The framing of this is amazing, and I'm so invested in the story and where is going. It's teasing and fun and beautifully written.
There was just something about Mickey that day—Ian didn’t just think it was about distance making the heart grow fonder. Or about how sexy plain old competency was turning out to be.
Ian could tell that Mickey was legitimately enjoying himself—and not just because he was helping Ian, but because Ian had given him a challenge, and there was nothing that Mickey loved more than a challenge. The itch to touch him, feel his body, smell his skin, was starting to get distracting. Ian really wanted to be a distraction.

Lip’s plan goes awry with catastrophic results. Ian takes up arms for the first time. Mickey walks through a fire to do the right thing. It is the climactic end of the first arc!
And it’s about time a chakram made an appearance, considering this is a Xenaverse fusion.
