Masterpost "2"
Hey, so I guess it's time to give the "2" series it's own masterpost.
I'll be updating this as I go!
Temptation
Thereâs a redhead at the bar and Mickey canât keep his eyes off him. Heâs dancing, laughing, smiling.
Once he catches Mickey staring, he turns his body towards him and starts dancing, slowly, with intent. A show meant only for Mickey.
And fuck the temptation is too much.
Mickey grabs a couple of beers, and he walks over.
âJesus, Red, youâre going to be the death of meâ he says, as he hands him a beer.
The redhead smirks. âMaybe. But Itâll definitively be worth your whileâ.
Mickey gets closer and he whispers in his ear. âMickeyâ.
âIanâ. Â
.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
Perfect
âThereâs no such thing as the perfect guy, Ian.â
Lipâs all but rolling his eyes at him. âYou always get screwed over, manâ.
Ianâs been hurt in the past, placing his trust in unworthy men.
But Ianâs not wrong about this guy.
âNo, you donât get it. We hung out all night, it felt good. Like he was made for me.â
âYou fuck him?â
âNo. Not yet anyways. Got his numberâ. And a kiss, but he doesnât tell Lip.
âAnd his name?â Lip asks.
âMickeyâ. Â Ian responds in a dreamy, soft voice.
Lip smirks. âOh, shit you got it badâ.
.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
JĂłga
Itâs a relaxed coffee date. Just the two of them talking, sipping coffee, eating muffins.
But Ian feels like itâs everything. Emotional landscapes spreading in front of him which he has never seen or felt before. And itâs Mickey who is making it all happen.
Ian wants to know him, kiss him, fuck him. Forever. Ian thinks heâs found âthe oneâ and heâll be devastated if something ruins this. If he ruins this.
He pushes that thought away. Heâs been stable for more than a year and heâs happy and Mickeyâs here, with him. This moment is all that matters.
.-.-.-.-.-.-
Hope
Mickeyâs never been one to hope. Call it self-preservation, he always assumes that shit will eventually fall apart.
But... Ian. Jesus.
Heâs sitting there, talking about his life and his job and he has this silly little smile that lights up the room and Mickey canât understand how he exists and seems interested in Mickey. Smitten, one could even say.
So, Mickey hopes. That this is not going to fall apart. That he gets to have this for as long as heâs alive. Because heâs only seen him twice, but he doesnât know how he could go without him around.
.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Wherever I go
Theyâre leaving a restaurant, after a successful third date. Itâs been going so well, it kinda scares Ian. It canât be this easy, can it?
When the time comes to say goodnight, itâs like his whole body, heart and soul donât want to let go. He wants to feel this for a little while longer.
âCan I walk you home?â Heâs not angling for an invitation, even though he wants Mickey. Thereâll be time for that, he hopes. But no, tonight is about romance.
Mickey nods, a shy smile on his lips. âSure thing, Redâ.
.-.-.-.-.-.-
Drive
Mickeyâs driving and he has Mandy on speaker.
âShit, Mickey. Seems like you got it bad.â Heâs told her about Ian and his red hair and his puppy eyes and their make out session outside his apartment the other night.
Thatâs an understatement. Mickeyâs gone on this guy.
âSo, whatâs the matter?â Mandy knows him well.
âWhat ifâŚâ he doesnât have to say it. Heâs always thought that love wasnât in the cards for him.Â
âOh, Mick.â Mandy says softly. âThe only way to find out is taking the chance. Is he worth it?â
âYeah.â Mickeyâs sure of it.
.-.-.-.-
Just say yes
Ianâs sitting across from Mickey in a park. Today itâs a fun, Sunday picnic date.
âThis is all I wantâ, he thinks. Itâs perfect. Heâs perfect.
And yet⌠Ian is... Ian. The cracks in his soul are there and it wonât be long before he finds himself flailing, like a fish out of water.
Will Mickey reject him for it?
Mickey kisses him out of his reverie. âWhatâs wrong?â
Ian feels it in the kiss; Mickey wonât discard him. Itâs so simple and he knows it.
âI have something to tell youâ. Swallowing the lump in his throat, he begins.
.-.-.-.-.
Hairdresser
Ianâs hairdresser is mid-cut, hearing about how Ian told Mickey about his bipolar. Heâd described it in broad strokes. The things heâs done when manic or thought about when depressed saved for another day. He tried to contain it.
âHe said it was fine. Asked a couple of questions.â Ian says quietly.
âSo why the long face, baby?â
Ian glances at his feet. âHeâs been âbusyâ. Havenât seen him since and he hasnât answered a text since Mondayâ.
âIâm fineâ he announces, faking a smile while he looks back at her.
She merely nods.
Iâm fine.
Someday itâll be true.
.-.-.-.
Pumpkin Spice
âLet me explain.â Mickeyâs standing at Ianâs door, with a pumpkin spice latte in his hand.
Ian grabs the coffee, tries not to show how hurt he is. âYou went home, googled about the bipolar and decided to ghost me. Itâs happened before. You donât owe me anything.â Ian starts walking away.
âNot what happened. Câmon, stopâ. Mickeyâs trailing behind him. âLetâs talk tonight, Iâll take you out, make it up to youâ.
Ian hates this. âNot interested in just fucking, Mickâ.
âGood. Me neither. Just say yes. Iâll explain everythingâ.
âFine, whatever.â
Mickey better have a damn good explanation.
.-.-.-.-.--.-.---
Trick or treat
âOne guy said he didnât want to wake up to a constant game of fucked up trick or treat. Another one said that I was making it up. Should I go on?â Ianâs nursing a cup of coffee while they talk. âWhatever it is this time, I donât want to hear it.â
Mickey tells him anyways. âI had to make sure that my father didnât get parole. He⌠tried to kill me. He did some nasty shit to Mandy. I know I should have told you. Iâm sorryâ.
âShitâ. Ianâs face softens. âAre you ok?â
âAre we ok?â
Ian smiles. âYeah.â
Endure 2
âTake your clothes off. Nowâ. Ian is in a bossy mood, already discarding his own shirt and pants.
âWhatcha gonna do if I donât, Gallagher?â Mickey smirks as he toys with the hem of his shirt.
Ian huffs as he rolls his eyes. âIâve endured three fucking weeks without you. Take. Them. Off.â
He crowds Mickey until heâs against the wall. âIâve missed you. I thoughtâŚâ, he shakes his head. âPlease, Mickâ, he adds quietly.
Mickey notices the shift, from bossy to pleading. âHey, hey.â He grabs Ianâs jaw as he stares into his eyes. âYou got me, ok?â
COMPETITION
âOk. Youâve won. Donât even know who you were competing against, but yeah. Itâs overâ. Mickey lays on the bed, trying to catch his breath.Â
Theyâve been together all weekend, making up for lost time. Ianâs done things to him he didnât even know were possible. Heâs moaned, whimpered and screamed so much, heâs surprised the neighbors havenât complained.Â
âYeah?â Ian asks next to him. He looks just as blissed out as Mickey feels.
âYeah. Now letâs go eat something before we pass outâ.Â
Ian eyes him playfully. âOk, but then weâre coming back. Thereâs something Iâve been meaning to tryâŚâ
.-.-.
WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT
âYouâd look good though. Up there on the stage.â
Theyâve gone out dancing. Ian thought it would be fun. He didnât know that the club he chose would have nearly naked dancers on platforms.
âWhy would you say that?â Ianâs voice shaking, memories resurfacing from a time heâs worked hard to move past, his paranoia winning out. âDid you see me? Back then? Did I dance for you? Did weâŚ?âÂ
He storms out, a concerned Mickey on his heels.Â
Ian doesnât stop; he starts running once heâs outside.Â
It canât be. He would remember Mickey.
Mickey would have told him, right?
.-.--.-
CRAZY POSSESSIVE
Ianâs thinking how heâs going to explain his freak-out.Â
The truth is, he wouldnât remember Mickey. He remembers events. Some actions sometimes feel like they were burned into his skin. Faces and names escape him.Â
But heâs pretty sure that Mickey wouldnât have waited this long to tell him if they had met back then.Â
He feels sick. Mickeyâs sort of crazy possessive sometimes so he wonders how he will react to this. Knowing what Ian used to do. How it was exacerbated by the fact that he was unmedicated.Â
But Ian owes him the truth.
The rest is up to Mickey.Â
.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Grinch
He feels like the Grinch, dumping all of this on Mickey right before Christmas.Â
Happy Holidays, Mickey! Your boyfriend was a coked up, manic whore for a bit thereâŚÂ
Thereâs no way Mickeyâs gonna be ok with this. No one ever is.
âI seeâ. Mickeyâs looking straight at him, an unreadable expression on his face.
Ianâs face falls as he prepares to leave.Â
âWhereâya going?â Mickey asks.Â
Ian shrugs.Â
âIâm sorry I said that. At the club. I didnât know it would⌠trigger you or something.â He holds Ianâs hand. âStay. This doesnât change anything. I love youâ.Â
.-.-.-.-.-.
GravityÂ
Ian looks at a sleeping Mickey next to him.Â
The past few weeks have been good. Theyâve been going out, sleeping at each others apartment almost every night, itâs domestic and tooth rottingly sweet, is what it is.Â
And Ian just knows, like he did all those months ago when they met at that club, that this is it.Â
That heâs supposed to gravitate around Mickey for the rest of his life.Â
Mickey wakes up, groggy, eyes still half shut.Â
âWhatcha staring at, Red?â
Ian doesnât even hesitate. âDo you wanna move in with me, Mick?â
âSureâ. Mickey smiles as he stretches his limbs.Â
Itâs Ianâs turn to smile.Â
This is their new beginning.Â
.-.-.-.-.-
Embroidery
âWhatâs this thing youâre doing?â Ian eyes suspiciously at Fiona, who is fighting with a needle and some thread.Â
âEmbroidery. Got bored of knitting but Iâm supposed to keep busy or somethingâ.Â
Sheâs visiting from Florida, itâs her first time in Ian and Mickeyâs new apartment. Itâs her first time meeting Mickey.Â
âSo when is this magnificent boy of yours coming home?âÂ
âIn about an hour. Fi, youâre gonna love him, heâs⌠been really good for me.â
Fiona smiles softly. âThis is the happiest Iâve seen you. Thatâs a damn good start.â
Ian runs a hand through his hair. He wants this to be perfect.
.-.-.-.-.
STICKER
Thereâs a stubborn sticker still stuck to the bottom of the mug Fionaâs drinking from. Itâs just another thing she doesnât like about what sheâs seeing here.Â
Ianâs boyfriend stormed through the door a few minutes ago, barely even acknowledged her and locked himself in the bedroom.
âI⌠Mickeyâs not usually like this. Something must have happened. Iâll⌠let me check on him, ok?â Ian disappears into the room.Â
She hears hushed voices arguing inside while she texts Lip.Â
Fiona: âI thought you said this Mickey guy was fine?â
Lip: âBetter than the others. Something happened?â
Fiona: âHe clearly isnâtâ.
DON'T
âMickeyâŚâ Ianâs at a loss. Mickey knew Fiona was coming over and that it was important to Ian that they make a good impression. Ian tries to get closer. âWhatâs wrong?â
âDonâtâ. Mickey extends his arm, preventing Ian from getting any closer. âTerry got himself a new lawyer. Heâs getting out.â
âWhat? No, there must be something we can do.â Ian can ask Lip if he knows a good lawyer, maybe they can stop this. It canât happen.Â
âThere isnât. Itâs a done deal.â He grabs a bag, starts throwing Ianâs stuff inside. âYou need to go. Nowâ.Â
Ian freezes. âWhat?â
HUNT
HUNT
Fiona: Hey can you⌠come pick us up from Mickeyâs?Â
Lip: âUsâ? What happened?Â
Fiona: Not sure, I think theyâre breaking up?Â
Lip: What? Ian just moved into Mickeyâs apartment two months ago.Â
Fiona: Whoâs Terry and why would he âhunt Mickey downâ?Â
Lip: Oh shit. Mickeyâs dad is getting out?Â
Fiona: Apparently?.Â
Lip: Ah fuck. Iâll be there in 20.Â
Fiona: Ian is putting up a fight and all, but I donât think heâs going to win this one. Let me know when you get here.
Lip: Stop them if they actually try to kill each other.
.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
STEAL
âYou canât just leave meâ.Â
Itâs Ian standing in the doorway with his shit all packed up, but Mickey is the one leaving Ian.Â
âYou donât get it, Gallagher. Itâs not my choice. Terry will find me and when he does, you canât be here. Itâs for your own goodâ. Mickey walks into the bedroom, closes the door behind him.Â
Ian feels Fiona tugging at his sleeve. âLipâs downstairs. Come on.âÂ
He doesnât move.Â
âYou canât stay, Ian. Give him some time, try again tomorrow.â
Still, he takes out the keys Mickey gave him less than two months ago and he drops them on the floor.Â
.-.-.-.--
RUINED
âSo you panicked?â Mandy is sitting in Mickeyâs apartment, which looks half empty again, because he kicked Ian out.Â
âI didnât panic. Terry canât find him here.â Mickey grits his teeth. Why doesnât anyone see it for what it is? Terry coming out means Mickey dies. Heâs minimizing the damage, heâs keeping Ian safe.Â
âWeâre not safe, youâre right on that. But I think that Ian and all the others, his family, our friends⌠They make us stronger, not weaker.â Mandy lets it settle. They are not helpless teenagers anymore.Â
âFuck. Did I ruin it?âÂ
âOnly he can answer that, Mickâ.
.-.--.
REFLECTION
Ian stares at his reflection in the mirror. Itâs been two days since Mickey kicked him out. He doesnât look different, just a little tired. But he feels different.Â
His phone vibrates in his pocket. Itâs probably Mandy. Again.Â
Ian hasnât answered a single call from her. Sheâll either try to explain what Mickey did, or sheâll call him an asshole and Ian doesnât want to hear it. Not from her.Â
He hears someone behind him.Â
âUhm. Mickeyâs here to see you⌠should we⌠like⌠let him in?â Fiona says softly.
Ian holds onto the sink and he closes his eyes.Â
âIan?â
FLUTTER
Ianâs eyelashes flutter while he tries to get rid of the tears in his eyes.Â
âIan?â Fiona is still waiting for an answer.Â
âYeah. Just give me a secâ. Mickeyâs too stubborn to leave without seeing him. But what is there to talk about? By kicking him out, Mickey effectively broke up with him.Â
Ian goes down the stairs a couple of minutes later. Mickeyâs standing in the kitchen. He looks nervous, fidgety.Â
âIanâŚâ
Ian says nothing.Â
âIâm sorry.â Mickey says, walking over to Ian, who takes two steps back.Â
âApology accepted. Now get the fuck out of my houseâ. He walks up the stairs again.Â
.-.---.
FERAL
Fiona is looking at him, she watched the whole thing play out.Â
âI donât know youâ she states, âAnd I donât particularly like you right now, but⌠Lip said you made Ian happy. Is that right?â
Mickey nods, âWhen Iâm not royally fucking it up, yeah.â
âSo you got two or maybe even three choices. You leave, you go feral or⌠you can go talk to himâ.Â
âHe doesnât want to talk to meâ.Â
Ian all but stormed upstairs, barely even looked at Mickey.Â
âHeâs stubborn and you hurt him. But I know him. Give it another tryâ.Â
Sheâs right. He walks up the stairs.Â
-.-.-.-.-.-.-
COMING HOME
Mickey walks in, sits by the door.Â
And he tells Ian everything. About a lifetime of abuse and violence. About one event which ended up with Terry locked up.Â
He tells him that falling in love with ian was unexpected, scary and dangerous. And how Terry is being released and he just knows that his first stop is going to be a gun shop and then heâs not going to stop until he finds Mickey.Â
âI thought I was protecting you when I kicked you out.â He sighs heavily, âYouâre everything, Ian. and I fucked up.â He looks up hopefully, âSo, are you coming back home?â
