I want a dachshund or other small dog because it seems like a good middle ground

#tons of small breeds were made specifically to hunt small fast animals so like. don't get a small dog thinking it'll be easier#dachshunds were bred to hunt badgers. do you want a dog with the need to hunt badgers or do you want a little dude to hang out with#if it's the latter just get a cat

Used to have a dachshund and can confirm, they are absolutely feral if left unchecked and (can) become incredibly aggressive and destructive if not stimulated properly on all fronts. They are way more work than most people assume.

it's actually really valuable to make this specific comparison because the exclusion of young people and the exclusion of disabled people function in similar ways and on similar principles. we build spaces that don't accommodate them because society thinks they don't "need" to be anywhere except the specific spaces designated for them, we justify that exclusion based on abled adults' comfort, and when we look around and don't see them we let ourselves believe it's because there's no reason for them to be there and not because the entire social and built environment is hostile to their presence.

And christ help u if ur child is also disabled. It's fuckin wild out there, they don't want us anywhere
