Other thoughts to come, but I need to register how flat I find his attempt to situate the Incarnation in a broader cosmology where it’s one center among many centers in the sphere of salvation. I can see why he’s doing it, but I just don’t vibe.

It's a recurring problem in Christian flavored portal fantasy. I don't think it's theologically plausible, and if I think about it too much it's a bit uncomfortable, but because it's so powerful as an image / allegory, I kinda prefer the "don't think about it too hard" approach.

The image of God isn't about people's physical shape. It means that people were created possessing the spiritual image of God. Not that we were created this way because God had two hands, feet, etc. Rather, the properties of sapience, relationality, creativity, rationality, emotions, and others constitute the image of God. So I have no concerns on that end.
