Perhaps the most well known artist of the Latin American trova movement; cuban singer and song writter Silvio Rodríguez combines the passion and tenderness of latin music with deep, poetic and introspective lyrics, that tends to adress political and social issues.
“Sueño con serpientes” (I dream of snakes) is a musical trip, beautifully instrumentalized with ethereal sounds that sets the mood for and introspective journey to the artist subconscious. With eloquent, poetic and vibrant lyrics Silvio tells the story of a dream on his own, where threating snakes attempt to eat him and everything around. This snakes are a symbol for the different difficulties humans have to go trough in live, implying that life is always a struggle but that people can overcome obstacles with effort and truthfulness.
In his own words: “I made my own interpretation of my dream, I think that what happens in the song happens in life, overcoming a difficulty just prepares you for overcoming one even bigger.”
