I need to replay my dwarf Wardens to formulate this better but there's always been this insane tense thematic space between the dwarves and the darkspawn and I feel like it only started to dwindle when the series started writing sentience out of the darkspawn. The close proximity of coexistence and the whole thing with dwarves not being children of the Maker vs the darkspawn being children of the taint and earth itself being corrupt into giving birth to monsters and dwarves being the only ones who can safely mine the titans and the forced passivity of the titans while corruption spreads vs freeing the darkspawn via a joining, a ritual that supposedly involves both lyrium-the-titans-blood and tainted blood (at least in the Last Flight which is a concept I adopt) like it has always been about blood and lyrium and taint and tranquility and I do feel a bit crazy thinking how erased the dwarves are from being centered in resolving it

Honestly. I think a huge amount of the love I have for Solas should be credited to Gareth David-Lloyd's voice acting skills. Because damn they really put so much into the role.

thinking about sera being a homeless elven child and later a homeless elven teen surrounded by signs in denerim that say "elves who have swords will die on them". sera seeing a bunch of arranged heterosexual marriages in the alienage and parents expecting grandchildren from these unions. sera being terrified of a haunted orphanage full of dead elven children and the demonic spirits that took root there in the aftermath. sera being adopted by a human woman who claimed to love her unconditionally but used her race to undermine her faith in people for the pettiest reason imaginable.

I mega love dragon age and I also do critique dragon age a lot. Some of these are like real things i believe could improve the experience, or like "oh this cant be fixed now but its interesting to think about it." Sometimes i wish for things that are just not realistic to implement. Sometimes i talk about wanting a completelly different game. Sometimes i will say things that contradict each other. Such is the nature of the dragon age fan
