i love the cast’s heights in the arcana. muriel’s height is almost exactly a portia and a third.

the main trio has no concept of being inconspicuous whatsoever. asra is like “this wide brimmed hat with a giant rainbow feather and this enormous red scarf will let me pass through without being noticed” and then nadia is like “this headscarf will conceal me, the countess of vesuvia and most recognizable person in the city” and then there’s julian going bar-hopping in a city where his face is plastered on wanted posters. i would do anything for these three.

All I can think of now is Asra coming back to Vesuvia and MC is missing, he's frantically asking people at the clinics, people in the market. No one knows where they are. He pulls out his compass and it leads him towards the lazaret. He's still hoping for the best. "Maybe they're cremating the dead, it's just one of their duties." And when he finally steps foot on the lazaret, over the mounds of ash, the compass point starts spinning around and around and around....
