The fact that antisemites are using the word "noticing" and "noticing patterns" as dogwhistles is annoying because I do actually notice a lot of stuff, patterns included, and one of the most obvious patterns I've noticed to date is that all antisemitic rhetoric makes no sense if you think critically about it for 5 seconds. Often less
A TERF liked this post so I just want to clarify that another pattern I've noticed is the massive overlap between anti-trans rhetoric and antisemitic rhetoric
Hi everyone! This is an illustrated guide I made as part of my co-admining work at The Middle Eastern Feminist on Facebook! It will be published there shortly. The technique that is displayed here is a genuine one used in psychology - I forgot the name and couldn’t find it again so if you know about it, feel free to tell me! Some could say: “Yes but you can use that technique for instances of harassment other than Islamophobic attacks!”, and my reply is: Sure! Please do so, it also works for other “types” of harassment of a lone person in a public space!! However I’m focusing on protecting Muslims here, as they have been very specific targets lately, and as a French Middle Eastern woman, I wanted to try and do something to raise awareness on how to help when such things happen before our eyes - that way one cannot say they “didn’t know what to do”! I’d like to insist on two things: 1) Do not, in any way, interact with the attacker. You must absolutely ignore them and focus entirely on the person being attacked! 2) Please make sure to always respect the wishes of the person you’re helping: whether they want you to leave quickly afterwards, or not! If you’re in a hurry escort them to a place where someone else can take over - call one of their friends, or one of yours, of if they want to, the police. It all depends on how they feel! For my fellow French-speakers: I will translate it in French and post it on my page as soon as I can :) Please don’t hesitate to share this guide as it could push a lot of people to overcome bystander syndrome!! Lots of love and stay safe! PS: I you repost this cartoon of mine on twitter or instagram, please add me in the post so I can see it, with @itsmaeril :)
An important reminder today, and every day.
This is based off of the Non-Complementary technique in psychology - also known as ‘flipping the script’.
It is a legitimate tactic for defusing a situation that could otherwise escalate to become quite nasty.
People instinctively reciprocate anger with anger and kindness with kindness, but what happens when someone breaks this ‘complementary be
important that you never forgive ice agents, ever. even years after all this is over (and I do believe we will make it out on the other side, alive and for the better,) they live in shame and disgrace forever. no excuses, no forgiveness. they ruined their own lives when they decided that human freedom and liberty was an acceptable sacrifice for a paycheck
the point of being correct is to do things about it. please join a communist if you can.
i know theres a lot of people who cant organize and if thats you, that doesn't mean you're useless. try making propaganda, really genuinely learn about how to make effective propaganda.
if thats not you, i know theres a lot of you who can organize and havent, you've gotta do it, the continued life on this planet genuinely depends on it. do it for yourself and for those who cant
but if you cant, thats totally fine, not everyone can or will organize with a party, but that doesn't give a pass to do nothing, either. there is a line between "engaging in politics as a fandom" and "being a professional revolutionary". you can hold a book club with your friends. you can take that knowledge and use it to agitate. to raise class consciousness broadly. not to win arguments or to dunk on people, but to expose to contradictions in capitalism. to bring more people into the fold. to reach people who can organize within a party.
taking care of ourselves is important, and its a required first step to get anything done, but the oppressors would love if we spent all our effort on just staying alive. they try and enforce that on purpose, have us believe we're too busy, too tired, to isolated, to challenge them. being busy, tired, isolated, etc... is why we need to challenge them. the capitalist class dont pay feds to start pointless arguments online for no reason. they know it fractures people and stops people from getting organized, makes them confused and waste time. they don't accuse communist organizations of every mistake under the sun as a joke, its to stop people from organizing. they dont work you to the bone until you're too tired to keep going anymore because there isn't anyone else who would be willing to work, they do it because its cheaper and because it makes us more compliant. When we're all fighting for jobs, we're willing to submit to worse treatment, and spend more of our time trying to get an in with the capitalists.
reject it. take your time back through struggle, through class struggle. if you're tired and burnt out, i get it, but its because of capitalists. they want us to roll over. we have to choose to pick up struggle instead, and fight.

You don't have to defend the Iranian misogynistic religious theoacry to condemn the Israel-US decision to bomb them btw. It's not a stan-war.
if anything you're reading makes reference to the cultural practices or social structures of "indigenous societies" you should mentally annotate it with "WHICH ONES???" in bright red marker
I need the ai bubble to burst so badly. I feel insane. My uncle shows my driving license (a piece of id with my picture, basic info and signature) to chatgpt to figure out what is the code a form ask for. My brother shows my mom's medical report to perplexity to have it explained in lay terms before she brings it to her doctor. All of those pieces of information could have been acquired without putting crucial personal information into the servers of big data. All of those pieces of information could have been acquired without putting crucial personal information into the servers of big data. All of those pieces of information could have been acquired without p
For decades there were countless truisms in politics about what you could and couldn't say and the president is just out there going "I made everything double in price for no reason and I love it"
Do you think it's immoral to use chatgpt for college assignments? I think it's unfortunately unavoidable.
It is absolutely immoral, completely counterproductive to the goal of learning things, and turns out incredibly subpar work.
As for unavoidable….you understand that the vast majority of people who have ever graduated college throughout history did so without ever once using AI, right? You understand that?
You understand that the point of writing papers isn’t just to have a paper with words on it, right? You understand that the entire point is to do the mental work necessary to put your learning into organized words, such that you actually learn it? And that if you outsource that to AI you are not learning?

Remember, a system's intention is what it does. Immigration laws in the US haven't failed because there are undocumented immigrants here. Immigration laws are what has created a large class of undocumented immigrants, and thus resulted in a class of workers who lack any protections by labor laws, who can be paid sub minimum wage, who can be sexually coerced with no legal escape, who can be put through life threatening conditions, and whose attempts to organize can be easily crushed with the threat of deportation. The intention of American immigration laws is to create a class of workers who the ruling class can subject to their ancap desires. All politics is class politics.
This may be the best Pride merch I've seen from a major corporation.
Levi's said yes, actually. Assless chaps and a biker vest. Happy Pride.
And the assless chaps sold out on June 1.
They also specifically contacted members of the leather community, used them as models iirc, and donated $100k to Outright International. They talked the talk and walked the walk and put their money on it too. I don't really care that I can't afford and don't want this merch, I love to see my community getting the respect it deserves. Levi's said, "We make jeans which gays wear lots of jeans? Oh leather daddies? Let's call them."
I think Levi's donates to Outreach International every year too, as well as sponsoring pride events and other community support. They were offering Same Sex domestic partner benefits to employees in the 90s, and have been very public about their support for pro-lgbt legislation all through the 2000s.
So, you know, a giant corporation that walks the walk pretty consistently.
A German regional court has ruled that Google is directly liable for the content of its AI search overviews. According to the court, previou
Let’s fucking go
This is HUGE.
1. The court holds Google responsible for statements made by its AI, considering them Google's statements (search engines have limited liability for results in their engine as they're the words of other sites/companies/people), meaning when their AI lies/hallucinates they're liable for the defamation/harm resulting from those statements.
2. Google's defense that customers are generally aware of the lack of reliability and are responsible for fact checking was dismissed. As the court pointed out, that would "significantly diminish" AI Search's stated purpose and it can't be distinguished from Google's business practices/statements as a search tool.
3. Studies have found about 91% of Google's everyday AI responses are accurate, leaving millions of searches per HOUR with potential liability for falsehoods. 56% of correct responses weren't supported by the sources the AI listed. Both of which mean Google is now liable for a LOT more AI "errors."
4. Google was held liable for 80% of court costs in this case and this precedent is expected to reverberate around the world. This is a massive shift from the 3rd-party search provider role Google has previously played and it comes right as they've tied ALL searches to their AI search.
TL;DR Google reeeeeally stepped in it this time.
5. If the words are Google's, this solidifies the position of universities who demand that all answers from AI are fully cited. If all the in-line citations now have to be (Google, 2026), that's going to make it obvious when someone's trying to use Google as a source. There's still the difficulty with people who are academically dishonest by trying to pass off the AI writing as their own. 6. 91% accuracy is officially too low to use as a source of references, which means the AI can't be used as a source of references either. This makes it less legitimate for such purposes than Wikipedia of all places (Wikipedia might need date/time proof of when it was accessed for the reference to be valid, but at least it is possible to prove the link existed at a particular date and time). 7. This will help encourage the rollout of courses on how to avoid AI search for students who need academic accuracy, because it's statistically not good enough to use. 8. This strengthens the case intellectual property authors have against Google in the EU, as this is proof that an intellectual property transfer took place.
I wish I could make white people(and not just white Americans) understand how diverse the pre-columbian Americas were. The history, religion, culture, politics was at least as complex as Europe's. There was the full gamut of religions, from monotheists to animists to ancestral religions. There were city building empires, village farmers, nomadic traders, and so many other ways to live. This is all just based on what we know, the fragments left behind and the stories of survivors of an apocalyptic plague. All this before the most extended campaign of genocide in history was waged in an attempt to wipe out those survivors.
Over 500 years spent trying to cut down a whole trunk of human culture.
Do you understand how much poorer our whole species is because of it? Can you imagine where art, religion, and science would be if we still had these vast bodies of knowledge? The stain of the colonial project will never be fully washed clean. We owe more than just the land to those we stole from. We owe them a whole future, a future that could have been brighter for all of us. If only greed and fear weren't allowed to rule this land.

These pescatarian birds are directly exposed to PFAS contamination due to the island's position near the St. Lawrence Seaway.
Over fifty years of data show a peak in PFAS (also known as "forever chemicals") content in seabird eggs in the 90s, followed by a decrease as regulations went into effect. The most recent findings show a 70% decrease of most common PFAS.
While continued vigilance a regulation is needed, this data indicates that regulations are working to reduce PFAS concentrations in marine ecosystems.
Yes!!!! I did a review of literature on PFASs in human drinking water about half a year ago, and there is a lot of really good progress! Please celebrate this, please don't let this solution be forgotten (at least so quickly) as the ozone layer or acid rain.
We are making genuine progress! Producers are dramatically altering how much they use PFAS and how much gets released in effluent, but also there's a lot better understanding of how to remove PFAS from the environment!
Environmental problems CAN BE SOLVED.
