i would say hello but we've met before

last post died (pls dont tag this post); it's been over a week since anyone sent anything. i didnt eat again yesterday. i'm struggling to eat & pay bills in general. i'm still looking to find new work after getting laid off. i was convinced during a crisis to take a job and move into the house of a family member who i now know just wanted free labour from me and has not paid me.

even when transmasc people DON’T pass we’re treated better than passing transfems. I’m extremely feminine and the second I say I’m a trans man 9 people out of 10 accept it. my wife is transfem and 9 out of 10 people we know still call her “he” and “boy” in makeup and jewelry but have no issue calling me by my pronouns when I’m fully clean shaven and wearing a dress. like passing is a huge part of it, absolutely, transmascs do pass easier than transfems and have that privilege, but I see every single day (and argue every single day) how much passing doesn’t matter when it comes down to acknowledging a transfem vs a transmasc person. I have soooo much privilege even in not passing that my wife wouldn’t have even if they passed

Let's say I really wanted to reduce the number of children who die in car accidents. Car accidents are really bad, right? Nobody disagrees about that. And it would be much better for both the environment and the kids' health if they spent more time walking, or taking the bus. Perfectly reasonable. More cars off the road, safer roads, fewer kids getting hurt, healthier kids. A win-win!

i think how “easy” or “hard” it is to become cispassing entirely depends on your face shape. i don’t think either gender has it easier or harder

On this day, 12 July 1979, Olive Morris, feminist, squatter and activist in the Brixton Black Panthers, died aged just 27. Born in Jamaica, Morris moved to the UK aged 9 to be with her forklift operator father and factory shop steward mother. One of her earliest political actions was at 17 when she intervened when police in Brixton, south London, were arresting a Black man for an alleged parking offence. She was racially abused and physically attacked by officers, then arrested, fined and given a three-month suspended sentence for two years. In her short life, Morris played a leading role in radical movements in Britain, getting involved with and helping found numerous groups and projects like the Black Women's Mutual Aid Group. She also was critical of the white left and union movement, which spouted rhetoric about "unity". But in reality, at employers like Standard Telephones and Cables, they defended practices like lower pay for Black workers, and scabbed on Black workers' strikes. About single issue anti-fascist groups, Morris said: “Not a single problem associated with racialism, unemployment, police violence and homelessness can be settled by ‘rocking’ against the fascists, the police or the army… The fight against racism and fascism is completely bound up with the fight to overthrow capitalism, the system that breeds both.” In 1978, she became unwell, and was then diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. She succumbed the following year.
