It is wild to me that the romantic ship with the most fics for Project Hail Mary is a ship involving a character who is in no way canonical to Project Hail Mary.
The Convict | Simon (Iron Lung) is tagged in more fics than any character other than Ryland Grace and Rocky, which genuinely feels farcical.
I think if Eva Stratt had been a man or Carl had been white, that would have been The Ship.

A literal day 1 dsmp fan made this post but yes it was about avengers doomsday being ass. I don't know a lot about Doom in the comics, and I already dislike them casting that dude, but i haven't heard of it being racist too. Could you explain?

so Doom's first ever appearance in Fantastic Four Vol 1 Annual 2, released in 1964, explicitly introduces him as Romani, and that the reason they're discriminated against by the soldiers and baron, with Victor's parents later being killed, is due to antiziganism/anti-Romani racism.
so casting RDJ, a white man*, to play a Romani man, an ethnicity that has been erased before in the MCU (casting of Aaron Taylor Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen to play Pietro and Wanda Maximoff, who are Romani; with Olsen using the g-slur many times, even during the making of WandaVisison, way after being told that it was a slur), along with having RDJ do an accent, as can be heard in one of the released trailers, is a racist casting decision.
even if Victor being Romani wasn't explicitly a part of his backstory, it still wouldn't justify the whitewashing. but since his first ever appearance is all about it, it just doubles down on the racism :(

*adding disclaimer: it was equally as bad when non-Romani actors previously played Doom. adding this statement here in case people want to say "why is everyone only mad when RDJ is playing Doom" no people were upset then too, but Marvel did not have as much cultural relevancy in the cinematic space as it does now.

Tanith Lee was the first woman to win the British Fantasy Award for best novel, for the second book of the Flat Earth series. She died in 2015. You can buy Tales From the Flat Earth here and here .

I cannot recommend Lee’s work enough. And it pains me that I’d never even heard of her until last year.
I want to clarify because one point of this annoys me:
Gaiman credited A Study in Emerald as Lovecraft and Doyle fanfiction because it features the literal actual characters of Holmes, Watson and Lestrade in a world that references Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos directly and often by name.
He did not credit Robert W. Chambers despite one of the scenes in A Study in Emerald being pulled directly from The King in Yellow.
Neil Gaiman credits his influences when they are absolutely undeniable and standard 90s D&D and Marvel level nerds are liable to recognize them, but even one scratch deeper and he's always been attempting to pass off the ideas as his own. This has always been his thing and people who are a little deeper on the nerd bullshit know that Gaiman's whole thing has always been weaponizing a far more normie audience to flex on and bully around creators with less social capital in the industries that he had "outgrown."

We also can't ignore it; after dealing with various annoyances plus traveling, I went off in a public club chat after being bugged about dues for three days in a row despite me paying the dues while on the phone with the treasurer.
Eating the rich would seem nice. Also remember what happened when the French did that. Chaos, innocent people like Thomas Paine and Lafayette caught in the crossfire -- and several of his family members got executed --and the monarchy restored.
We have to be smart about our anger. Most predators that bite humans tend to spit us out; we taste terrible. So no, no eating the rich.
I'm seeing if my hobby of sewing will help with the current rage. Stabbing a sharp needle into nice fabric sometimes helps. Find your stabby hobby and place to be petty, whether it's making fun of the relative who should have known better or excluding a fucking fascist idiot from your hobbies, with minimal consequences.

this is my entire stance on the "american food is bad" discourse summed up
Listen man, its a work week, you just got done your shift at the dollar store, youre in a rural area and the local waffle house is a 35 minute drive away and driving from the waffle house back home will be another 45 minutes, so what youre gonna do is youre gonna pick these four bad boys up from the dry goods aisle, drive home, cook some Carolina long grain rice with a little bouillon cube stirred into the cooking water, and in a separate skillet, youre gonna add a tsp of veggie oil or if youre lucky some butter and cook down some of that garlic. Then add a little extra oil and if you have spinach or any hearty greens, youre gonna throw them in your skillet with some salt and cook them down, if not thats okay. But youre also gonna transfer your rice from the pot into the skillet with your garlic (and veggies if youre lucky) and stirfry that rice for a minute or so. The bouillon cube didnt quite season your rice to your liking, so youre gonna throw a little extra pinch of salt. Perfect. Then youre gonna turn off the flame and add parmesan to taste. You take a look in your fridge and you see that you have a little parsley left from the last time you were able to clock out early enough to stop in at the local Food Lion and its still in good condition. Youre gonna wash that parsley, dry it, give it a quick chop, and finish your fake risotto with it and a couple splashes of lemon juice.
You have some rice left over so you know whats for dinner tomorrow night and you can sleep soundly. Country girls make fucking do.

During her 12th pregnancy she wrote about taking scalding baths and jumping from high pieces of furniture to try and miscarry. And at one point while reading her husband’s diary (which he told her to read) she found the sentence “There is no such thing as love, only the physical need for intercourse and the practical need for a life companion.” In her own diary she wrote “They ebb and flow like waves, these times when I realise how lonely I am and want only to cry…”
A few years before her husband’s death, she published a cycle of prose poems titled “Groans”, under the pseudonym “A Tired Woman”.

In case they have a character count "payment for goods/services rendered" is a good start. If they have a minimum word count, come up with a bland and common response that fits and use that every time.
If it asks if you had to have communication with the seller (possibly fishing for commission info), simply say that all communication was handled well and promptly.
I find the "rules are toys" framing of tabletop RPG design useful for several reasons:
The idea that system matters is reducible to recognising that toys have affordances; while there is of course no "wrong" way to play with a toy, no amount of open-mindedness will readily fit a bicycle through a basketball hoop.
It puts a line under one of the main objections to the "why not just freeform it?" thing; if folks are discussing how to make or modify a toy to achieve a particular set of affordances, blundering into the conversation going "why bother with toys when you can Use Your Imagination?" is unlikely to be well received!
Sometimes it's helpful to take a step back from a critique of a particular system and ask yourself: is this set of game mechanics really broken or incomplete, or have I mistaken a bicycle for a basketball?
