story time. an instance of sexism at my school.
our school's boys basketball team's OFFICIAL jersey was stitched to be sleeveless. and this was for all ages, from 12 yrs old to 17-18 yrs old boys. but when literal 18 year old women on their own farewell wore a sleeveless blouse with their sarees, they were asked to leave the event by the school's seniormost psychology teacher. but our phy and chemistry teachers were much more progressive and knew how stupid these restrictions are, they gave the girls their shawls and extra dupattas for only when they are sitting in the main hall.
but way to ruin an outfit that my friends planned the whole damn year for.
True. Teachers won't scold boys on the football team for wearing a tanktop (as it is state championship uniform) but GOD FORBID a 14 year old girl wear a sleeveless blouse, or forget sleeveless just show a little bit of stomach in her Saree. And it was always female teachers.
