The Httyd books has a 14 year old child king vowing to abolish slavery and that he'll lay down his life for his people in one last ditch attempt to save humanity from the apocalypse, so that they may be free and so that human and dragon can live in equality at long last.

I love drawing tiny toothless next to windy

There are twelve books, each one more insane than the last. Hiccup get banished twice. Toothless is just a little guy and he gets a cute little coat in book 4. Hiccup get branded. Lobsters are plot important. Hiccup gets torture interrogated. His best friend wrote a love poem that kicked off a three way interspecies war. (The sides are: Humans, Dragons, and Hiccup (slight exaggeration)). Hiccup is hunted down by two sides of a three way war. His tribe is enslaved. His cousin is killed. His other best friend is a burglar and escape artist whose dragon is a compulsive liar and whose mother is named Big-Boobied Bertha, and yes that woman has killed people with those breasts.

For the fourth day of Doomsday: Reveal

Minor thing that annoys me is that bc I bought the httyd books at random intervals over the course of my teenage years, they don’t all have the same spine design… so some of them have the numbers and some of them don’t and there’s no rhyme or reason as to why.

There are no dragons, in this world. Maybe not in your entire lifetime and a dozen lifetimes after yours, but history is a succession of noble failures. Do not be afraid to fail, just as hiccup did, do not be afraid to care. Success may be improbable, but an effort made in the right direction is still a change towards a better world. Even in failure, there is hope. Until then, even if the world isn't wonderful just yet, if you look close enough, perhaps you can still see some of its wonders.
