I have long held and continue to hold the Emily Wilde is an asexual character. Sex-favorable yes, but also aro-ace.

Notably, her past sexual and dating history was very perfunctory. She dated someone she didn't find offensive, slept with him once or twice, decided it was fine but quite enough, then showed no other interest in any further relationships.

She appreciates that Wendell is perceived as handsome. However she notably doesn't have this reaction. Rather, most of her physical focus on him is describing his lovely, soft hair.... In much the same way someone may describe a lovely day or beautiful flowers, or a fluffy puppy. It is aesthetic and fond, but not romantic or sexual.

A vital point is that Wendell clearly feels that way about her but what allows their relationship is that he never expects nor requires for her to feel the same! He knows that is not who she is and he accepts it! He places no pressure on her for either a romantic nor sexual relationship. He wants to be by her side. And she does love him, but it is very different from a romantic or sexual love.
