interesting how, in the realm of fiction, there are some morally reprehensible behaviors that are "acceptable" for someone's character to have, and some that wait a minute post canceled. My cat who doesn't like cuddles just settled directly into my lap for the first time in the 10 years I've known her
This is all that matters now
She did it again. Discourse is cancelled forever
Hooray! Acceptance!
Watches an anime and gets stuck: "hmm I guess I just don't have the energy for this I'll try the manga"
Reads the manga and gets stuck at the exact same spot: ಠ_ಠ
"The magic system is never fully explained" yeah that's how life works. Imagine having a story set in modern day America and the characters have several pages of exposition on combustion engines and telecommunication networks before we get to the plot
i think this is absolutely correct and good writing advice but also victor hugo would like to have a word with you about the parisian sewer system circa 1832
victor hugo would like to have many words with you about the parisian sewer system circa 1831
I think yes, we should make room for things to be unexplained, but also let's encourage writers to consider publishing extensive encyclopedias for their universe to sell to systems perverts. (If that's a thing they want to do.)

Just found out that putting a pihole on my network is a lot weaker than I'd originally thought and I've already done 80% of the work to set it up. This is all fine really but I'm embarrassed to tell my wife I made this mistake because it really puts a wrench in the long term digital/network strategy that I convinced her to agree to.
Thankfully she loves me and doesn't judge me for my mistakes so there are no consequences aside from the slight and reasonable emotional burden of feeling a bit silly about having to say it out loud.
Hmm.. just had a thought. I think there's a kind of thought convergence happening with artists about making things "human" - which usually translates to "less polished and more communal" which is kinda cool conceptually. Corook (they made "if I was a fish") and Michael Burns (leftist YouTuber who used to do stuff for Wisecrack before it imploded) both talked about this concept. Corook being the one who is taking it way more seriously and I'm really feeling their new EP concept. ANYWAY.
I spent my entire creative energy as a teen sanding the edges off of everything I made. The most popular stuff I ever did was always more raw and literally communal. Playing live music and live streaming being the main ones. Might have to write out a bunch of words about how my brain has changed the way I think about what makes art and "things" good. That might fix me*.

Happy Black Fae Day!
I did this as part of a collaboration post with many other wonderful black creatives over on IG. My theme was Warrior Fairy.
Creative Direction and editing by me

"it's not that deep"
Yeah, not with that attitude.

I need to stop commenting on YouTube. I started a few months ago because I wanted to help out the creators I like. I keep getting responded to by people I don't know talking about the half-joke comment like I made a contradiction in an Ace Attorney game.
So I just now learned that museums on Twitter were having a battle over the best bum around! I am delighted!!!
I mean, just look!
WHY DID NOBODY FUCKING INFORM ME

Before June I have to share one of my favorite tiktoks
I can't stress enough how much I miss StumbleUpon
StumbleUpon once sent me to a supercut of Lion King, Lion King 1 1/2, and Lion King II, the main edit being that the scenes of Lion King and Lion King 1 1/2 were interspersed so that they happened in the order they actually happened.
stumbleupon not existing anymore can be directly traced to a dramatic decline in my mental health, I could do a thesis on it.
bestie stumbleupon very much still exists its just called cloudhiker now. i use it all the time.
mini compilation of suggestions from the replies:
The Bored Button - "Press the Bored Button and be bored no more."
The Useless Web
Cloudhiker - "Discover the most interesting, weird and awesome websites of the Internet" (not really a rebrand, it's a different person running it but they have the same intention in mind)
Astronaut.io - "These videos come from YouTube. They were uploaded in the last week and have titles like DSC 1234 and IMG 4321. They have almost zero previous views. They are unnamed, unedited, and unseen (by anyone but you)."
Marginalia - "This is an independent DIY search engine that focuses on non-commercial content, and attempts to show you sites you perhaps weren't aware of in favor of the sort of sites you probably already knew existed."
I used to love take me to a useless website
Neocities has a big gallery of the hosted sites and they can be sorted randomly. I've found a few great sites this way.
