Ingredients: 1 cup all-purpose flour. 1/2 cup granulated sugar. 1/2 tsp baking powder. 1/4 tsp baking soda. 1/4 tsp salt. 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon. 1/2 tsp ground cardamom. 1/4 tsp ground ginger. 1/4 tsp ground cloves. 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg. 1/2 cup brewed chai tea, cooled. 1/4 cup buttermilk. 1 large egg. 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted. 1/2 tsp vanilla extract.
Instructions: Preheat your oven to 350F 175C. Grease a doughnut pan. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and all the ground spices cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves, nutmeg. In another bowl, combine chai tea, buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and stir until just combined. Spoon the batter into the doughnut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the doughnuts spring back when lightly touched. Allow the doughnuts to cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. For the Vanilla Bean Icing: Ingredients: - 1 cup powdered sugar - 2 tbsp milk - 1/2 vanilla bean, seeds scraped out or 1 tsp vanilla extract Instructions: In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and the vanilla bean seeds or vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Once the doughnuts are completely cooled, dip the tops of each doughnut into the icing, allowing any excess to drip off. Place the iced doughnuts back on the wire rack to set.
