(1:40:18) Q: Hey listen, just like, you know, Toews and Kane and Crosby and Malkin, man I mean, for a long time it was always Richards and Carter in Philadelphia. You guys were always like the dual threat, the twosome there in Philadelphia. What was your guys' relationship off the ice? Were you guys super super tight, really close? Are you still close to this day? Like. break that that friendship down.
MR: Yeah, yeah no we were close. I think he got drafted 11th, I was 24 so we were both kind of going to Philly as first rounders and we knew each other from World Juniors, actually pretty much all the way up I think under 17, under 18 World Juniors, two World Juniors. We both played for the Philadelphia Phantoms and the AHL that one playoff run. So we literally just did everything together, and we had a great relationship. We lived in the same building. When LA traded for him, he lived at my house when I was there. So we were really close, pretty much the whole, our whole career, we followed each other around. And I think it's a lot better when you are going through something together, like when you're sharing experience with somebody. I think it just makes you that much closer too. So, the pressures of being in Philadelphia and then the craziness about being traded on like, the same day within like a half hour, from Philly, two different spots, and then ended up being together, and then winning a cup. It was actually, when you look back at it, which I actually haven't really done, but like, it's just crazy. Like we lost in the gold medal game in World Juniors together in Finland, won World Juniors together the next year, won the AHL championship with Philly, the following year or the same year from that actually played our first game together, got traded together,
Q: You should have married each other!
MR: [laughs] came back, won the first cup together, won the second cup together, like it was just, it's honestly crazy, actually now that you kind of ask and you put it together. So yeah, we were uh- not a- I don't talk to him much anymore, just with.. I don't know if he, um, not playing, um I don't make it out to LA very often, but when I was out there last I saw him so, um, but well
Q: Just so you know, he's in Pittsburgh now. I want to let you know he's in Pittsburgh with you though don't be sending presents to his LA address, he's not there anymore.
