for pride month this year i would like sports rpf fans to think more expansively gender and what it means to be transgender, and start engaging with trans headcanons for players who aren't white, skinny, hairless and perceived as emotional

#with hrpf all i see is ppl making the white skinny hairless guys (qhughes tz etc) transfemme #which is cool and all #but i want more #put big hairy guys in femme situations #put the ‘twinks’ in masc situations (not feeling man enough/not being able to grow hair or gain muscle and being too ‘girlish’)#put big hairy guys in masc situations (they were socialized as a girl but now women are afraid of them/#even though they look like a man they don’t feel like they fit into the male environment)#put the ‘twinks’ in femme situations (still too masculine to look like a girl/#look to much like a girl but try hard not to bc they don’t want outed or targeted)#put everyone in androgynous situations (look like a guy when out w everyone but get called puck bunny/slut when out w one person)#(have ppl constantly fuck up pronouns)#(internalized angst/transphobia because you don’t fit any group of people)#so many ideas…..#sorry if there’s any typos i’m not reading through all of this

taking a (BRIEF) break from being pissed off to get emotional about nick seeler. he was so unhappy with his time in minnesota and chicago that he quit hockey, and only came back to sign with the flyers bc he thought they would be honest with him about what he needed to do, and would try to help develop him. he's consistently a leader in blocked shots and he barely has any points during the regular season but he's so good at what he does that the flyers keep signing him to longer and longer contracts and would not have made the playoffs without him, and he feels like he's respected here and he feels at home, and now he's not only IN the playoffs, he SCORED a GOAL!!!!!!!

i am just... nick seeler is never going to win an nhl award. he's never going to be appreciated or even known outside of his team and their fans (and maybe some specific ppl who are obsessed with defensive defensemen). but he works so hard literally every game and now he has a game winning goal in round 1 of the playoffs and he'll have that forever. i'm so happy he came back to hockey. i'm so glad he came to philly.
