I stopped being afraid of outside! I'm having fun!! I'm running!!!
Did this early morning run that was basically skating! There is still so so much ice everywhere so I took it on the slower side- then I did this full body lift instead of the peloton hardcore calendar leg day. Will do upper body tomorrow! Glad to be back at it!

Tips for Cold Weather Running: More than Layers
Things beyond the “10 degree rule” and layering properly when it looks like THIS ^^ outside:
1. Phone battery properly charged. (I’ve gone running when its 20 degrees after a few weeks of negative windchill and been like, “How warm it is! This is great.” And my phone dies halfway through a run because 20 degrees is still cold. It’s annoying because I like to pace myself with music, but also not so safe because if I were to slip and fall on ice or something I wouldn’t be able to call for help.)
2. Phone solidly in pocket or bag or something. (This keeps it from shutting off from cold for longer. Even if the battery is charged, when the phone reaches a certain temp it powers down. Just put on a playlist, bundle it up, and leave it alone! Body heat and being protected from the wind has been enough for my phone to stay on.)
3. Ear covers. (Why does nobody seem to mention this when talking about layers? Your ears need some lovin and lack of frostbite too!)
4. Shirt/scarf that can be pulled up over the nose/mouth. (Sometimes it feels like I don’t need this, sometimes I do. Better safe from windchill than frostbite from windchill.)
5.Water resistant socks or shoes. (Kind of an expensive “tip”, but just be aware that snow and ice may get on your shoes and make your socks damp. Next time you’re buying new shoes, you may or may not take this into account.)

Indy Mini W4D6 - easy 5 I was thinking of going to the gym to run these since it was so cold outside. But I was talking to my mom on the phone and she encouraged me to run outside. I knew she was right, so I bundled up and headed out. I kept things nice and easy for this run. I went out last night with some friends so I was feeling that a bit today haha but nothing too bad. But I just ran along and sprinkled in some short walk breaks when I wanted to. Overall, it was a nice run! Nice to get out and get some fresh air :) Happy Saturday! Hope you're all enjoying the weekend :)
W2D7 - 30km long run along the frozen riverside. I felt like lying in my bed and reading all day long and zero percent like running and after 4km I decided to run just 10 easy ones...when I hit ten I decided I would go for 20...then 28...and ended up running 30. Now I feel sore and happy after a hot bath and lots of fooooood.
I'm so grateful that B came running with me! Second 5K of the year for @mymonthlyworkoutchallenge and I KILLED IT! Idk how, but I just ramped up and managed to keep a decent pace throughout. I'll be doing my first race of the year on Friday and I actually feel a lot more confident going into it than past races. My goal in 2017 is one 5K race a month!
