I did it again you guys 🤦🏼♀️ starting Thursday though my life got very hectic so I’ll just need a pass this week (I’ll update on what’s going on eventually!). Anywho, Thursday morning I got up for a swim and it went really good! I was planning on doing 200 no fins/fins and 300 no fins/fins to get 1000 yards plus warm up and cool down. But my first 200 with no fins felt so good I decided to do them all with no fins! So it was a great swim and I felt good 🏊🏻♀️ Friday I did go to trx, but my friend came too and we got ready for work together at the gym so I forgot to selfie! But the class was great, it was only my friend and I so that was kinda fun! We did a lot of triceps and I definitely felt them the next day! Saturday I didn’t get a chance to workout due to a very busy day! But this morning I got up early-ish and headed out for a run! It was pretty warm but I did my best to power through! I got a pretty bad side stitch in mike 3 that wouldn’t go away, so I thought I might just wrap it up at 4 miles. But I started to feel better so I decided to power through and get to 6. And I’m so glad I did! I haven’t done a longer run in a while so this was nice. My legs are pretty sore though! I’ve definitely been neglecting running in favor of swimming and biking. But I’m sure I’ll get back into it soon! 🏃🏼♀️ Hope you all had good weekends! 😊💕
Wednesday group ride! It was a time trial week! It was pretty windy on the way out and that made it tough! I was struggling a bit and knew this wouldn’t be faster than the last time trial. But I gave it my best effort! And unfortunately the wind on the way back did not make up for the head wind going out haha but it wasn’t as bad as going out. Oh well! Still happy with my time 🚴🏼♀️ I missed my group run yesterday because I was at a supplier late. Hmph. Happy hump day! We are closer to the weekend 😊
Hi hi hi! I feel like I do this every week! I’m good at posting in the beginning but then the weekend comes and I don’t haha apologies! Sooooo last Friday I got up for TRX! And my friend came too which was fun! It was a good class - she does a set of pushups and abs every few weeks and it’s a really good one and we did it this week so I was definitely feeling it 💪🏻 And after trx and some errands (I didn’t have to work - summer Friday!) and it was so nice out and my legs didn’t hurt so I decided to go for a run! And it was really nice! The weather was great and I just trotted along and enjoyed myself 🏃🏼♀️ Scott was here this weekend too which was fun! We went to a party on Friday with a bunch of my friends and had a great time 😊 Saturday Scott and I ventured out for an open water swim! I recently got an inflatable kayak, so we alternated who same and kayaked and it worked out really nice! We both swam for about 15 mins with short breaks and it was really good practice. Open water swimming is so scary and soooo different from a pool. I was really glad we did this - it was really good practice 🏊🏻♀️ And Sunday we headed out for a nice brick workout! The ride was really nice, we kept it easy-ish and enjoyed ourselves. The weather was really nice too - not too warm and little wind so it was perfect. We got back to my place, changed quickly, and headed out to run! 🚴🏼♀️🚴🏻♂️ This run went SO well! I felt so great. I was giving good effort but it was just really good. I felt controlled but pushing it and it was right where I wanted to be. Our last mile was 8:46 and I rarely run that fast - I just felt really good! It was a great run to finish a good workout with my fave guy 🏃🏼♀️🏃🏻♂️ Overall it was a really nice weekend with Scott and friends! Made getting up early this morning for my swim a little tough, but I still did it! I did 1,000 yards and just kept things easy and simple. That’s always the best rule for Monday mornings I think 😜 And that’s what I’ve been up to! Hope you’re all doing well 💕
Group ride tonight! We did a similar route as last week, but went a different way on the way out and this way was hillier than normal. But it didn’t feel too bad tonight! I was able to charge up the hills and they felt good! Coming home it’s always a big sprint, and I did get dropped this week, but I actually felt really good tonight, so I wasn’t upset like normal. And I didn’t get dropped quite as bad as normal. I just felt good tonight and was still moving at a good pace, so getting dropped just didn’t bother me. Still a great ride and I had fun 🚴🏼♀️ Hope you’re all having good weeks! Hump day is over! 😊

Hi friends! Got up early yesterday morning to get in a swim before work! I kept it shorter for this one, only doing 200 yard repeats to get to 1,000 yards. This swim felt tougher than recent ones, but could have just been one of those day! Still a good swim and happy I got up for it 🏊🏻♀️ And today was run club after work! We did “hilly mile repeats”, which are as fun as they sound! I started off feeling strong, but the second repeats the hills were brutal (you did it backwards) and my legs were tiiiired. But I was running in a group with 3 other guys, so we did a great job of motivating each other! Always nice to have company for the hard workouts. It was definitely a good workout and I am feeling it 🏃🏼♀️😊 Hope everyone is having a good week so far!!
Hello hellooo!! Friday morning I got up for TRX and it was a fully class! Even some new faces which is always nice! It was a good class as always, I just love this class! 💪🏻 Saturday since the weather was rainy rainy and I missed my swim on Thursday due to a jam packed day, I headed to the pool. I wanted to do longer intervals to work on my endurance. And I had such a good swim!!! I did 100 yard warm up, then did 200, 300, 400, and 500 yards all continuous with short breaks in between. And they all felt great!! I worked on keeping my breathing in check by breathing more often when I needed to and that helped so much! I was so pumped after this swim, I felt great! I did a relaxed 300 yard cool down with fins to get to 1 mile. Such a great swim! 🏊🏻♀️ And today I got up for a ride to run brick! I was feeling unmotivated for this workout for some reason. So I bargained with myself that I’ll keep it short. The bike was okay, once I got warmed up I felt better. It was short and easy! The run went really well though! I didn’t take any breaks and just felt great the whole run. I was jamming and enjoying myself 🚴🏼♀️🏃🏼♀️ Besides this stuff, I’ve had a pretty low key weekend and it’s been great! I’ve definitely needed one of these 😊 Hope you all had good weekends! 💕
Group bike ride tonight! The weather was so amazing, much cooler than it’s been, no humidity, and very low wind. Doesn’t get much better! The ride was good too! I felt strong for almost the whole ride. I was charging up hills and keeping up with the lead group. I did get pinched in at one point, but made my way back. I even pulled for about half a mile at 24 mph! But there are a ton of Strava segments on this route on the way back, and I held on for a few, but couldn’t hang on the whole time. But that’s okay! I wasn’t the only one, so there was a smaller group who rode in together so that was nice! Even some of the guys at the end were complaining that some guys got a bit out of hand with the pace. So it’s nice to know I’m not the only one struggling! But still a good ride and I’m happy with my efforts 🚴🏼♀️ Hope everyone had a good hump day!
Hellooo! Got up early for a swim yesterday morning. It went good! I did 1,000 yards and did shorter and longer intervals, but overall felt great! 🏊🏻♀️ And today was run club day! We had a great group and two new guys which is always fun! We did a fartlek run which was 2 mins easy, 1 min moderate, 1 min easy, and 30 seconds hard. We ended up doing that 5 times. This workout felt really good for me! The weather was really nice today, which I’m sure helped too! My watch did something weird towards the end (it shut off and then said I was running a 5 min mile 🤷🏼♀️) so my splits got a little messed up near the end, but I know I put in the effort so I was happy! 😊🏃🏼♀️ Hope everyone’s having a good start to their week!
Hello friends!! Weekend catch up! Friday morning I got up for TRX and I was the ONLY person in the class! I got a very personalized ass kicking!! But it was a fun class! The instructor is so nice so we were able to chat the whole class (when I wasn’t dying) so it was fun. I was definitely sore after though! 💪🏻 After that I headed to Michigan for the weekend! Scott and I finally got our engagement pictures taken Friday night and it was super fun! They’ll be ready in 3 weeks and I can’t wait to see them! I’ll definitely share once I have them 😊 Saturday morning Scott and I got up and headed to a park to get our workout in. We started with an open water swim and it went really well! We did about 700 yards (each lap was ~175 yards). We did 1 lap warm up, 2 laps nonstop, and 1 lap cool down. We were both very happy with how it went! I focused on breathing more often and that definitely helped 🏊🏻♀️🏊🏻♂️ After our swim we hopped onto our bikes and headed out! This ride felt really good for me, I was just cruising! We both felt really good after and were happy with our efforts 🚴🏼♀️🚴🏻♂️ The rest of Saturday involved wedding dress shopping (I picked my dress!!! 👰🏼) and dinner with my family. Sunday morning I dragged Scott out of bed for a short run together! It was hot, but we powered through and enjoyed our run together. We picked it up for the final half mile and it was a great run together 🏃🏼♀️🏃🏻♂️ Such a fun weekend with my love! Lots of fun couple time 💕😊 Hope you all had good weekends!!

Helloooo friends! Back to my regularly scheduled updates! I took last week to just have a break from normal training and do whatever. It was nice! But now we back! Tuesday I went to run club and we did an interval run! Since it was super hot again, we went to a shaded part of the trail and did loops around a tree that’s in the middle of the path. The goal was to run fast to the tree and then recover coming back. It was about a third of a mile did that 10 times! I think my watch was struggling with gps because my friends ran over a half mile more than me and we ran the same workout 🤷🏼♀️ but it was a good workout and I wanted to quit early a bunch of times but didn’t so I felt very good at the end! And last night I went to my group ride and had such a good ride 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 the weather was so perfect and I just felt really good the whole time! Didn’t get dropped and was able to keep up the whole time and it was just great. So nice to have a good group ride again, it was so fun 😃🚴🏼♀️ And this morning I got up for a swim! I haven’t gotten up early in a while so I am a little extra sleep today. But I did 1,000 yards doing intervals of 200 yards. This time around I want to focus more on longer intervals and getting used to those. I figure I should get used to swimming distances and then once that’s better work on getting faster. Overall good swim though! 🏊🏻♀️ And that’s what I’ve been up to! Hope everyone is having good weeks!
Hi friends!! As mentioned on Friday, I spend the weekend at my friends parents lake house. It was super fun!! The weather was perfect and we all had a great time. Saturday morning I made it out for a run and my goodness was it hilly!! The lake house is on a gravel road and it was hilly and very windey. But I did my best and got some good miles in (I got turned around and went longer than I was planning but it was a good thing 😬). The rest of Saturday was spent in the lake enjoying the sunshine ☀️ Sunday was a lazy recovery day. Saturday was fun but very tiring! I was planning on swimming Monday morning but we got back way later than I expected and it just wasn’t feasible. But yesterday I got out for a bike ride. And I was HOT! But overall the ride felt good and I was glad I got out there. Saw a few other riders out which is always fun 🚴🏼♀️ And that’s about it! Hope you’re all doing well!
Hello friends!! This week was a bit different because Scott had the week off so he got to stay and hang out all week! It was so nice having him around 😊 Monday after work we headed out for a bike ride. And it was nice! We got a bit tired coming home because we were going into the wind and maybe overdid the distance, but we whined and pushed our way home together and it was still a nice ride 🚴🏼♀️🚴🏻♂️ Tuesday I got Scott to come along to run club with me too!! It was SO SO HOT though. I didn’t not really enjoy this run at all haha just way too hot. Glad we cut it short! Wednesday I didn’t have to work because of the 4th, so we went to the lake to be in the water because it was so hot and then we had a bbq with some friends later. It was a nice 4th! 🇺🇸 And yesterday we decided to head out for a short run after I got home from work. It was hot, but not as bad as it’s been, so this run was pretty enjoyable. Just very sweaty haha I love having my favorite running buddy with me 💕 I’m headed to my friends lake house for the weekend, so I’m excited for more outdoor time and relaxing 😊 Hope you all had a good week!!
My first triathlon is complete! First two pics are pre-race, Scott and I were set up right next to each other, Scott and I after (fake vs real emotions haha) and my results overall.
Overall, I am disappointed with how this race went. I could have trained harder, but with all of the training I did I thought I’d be much more prepared and successful than I was. It was still decently fun, but I expected more. Didn’t get many pictures because we were kind of on our own for the race, and after neither one of us felt very photogenic haha
The swim 🏊🏻♀️(400 meters, 15:22):
Could not have gone worse. Honestly. The only way it could have gone worse is if I quit. From the second the horn went off I could not relax into the swim at all. I stayed in the back of my swim wave because I was nervous, but I expected to be nervous. I did not expect to completely bomb the swim. I honestly don’t think I got 5 complete strokes in the entire swim. Every single time I went to take a breath in I got water in my mouth and choked a little. And while I was choking/trying to calm down I was just kind of doggy paddling. I got one big mouthful that panicked me and I had to wave the kayak over. My goggles were starting to fog up too, so I just hung onto the kayak for probably like 30 seconds, tried to tell myself I was fine, wiped my goggles and tried to keep going. I honestly don’t know how I made it to the turnaround buoy because I was a complete mess. I couldn’t put my face in the water because I could not get my breathing under control so I just felt like I was flailing around the whole swim. When I finally got to the turnaround buoy there was another kayak there so I decided to take a quick breather there. I knew the girl on the kayak so it was a little more comforting. I told her I felt like I had never swam before in my life and that’s honestly how I felt. It was a complete disaster. I got myself started on the way back and was able to calm down a little, but for like 80% of the way back I resorted to a back stroke/froggy thing. I just could not put my face in the water and I just wanted to be out of the water so bad. That worked fairly quickly and once I was close enough to shore to touch, I basically water-ran my way in. I was so embarrassed getting out of the water because I knew a group of people there and they were all cheering for me, but I had gotten passed by two waves that started after me and was the last person in my wave out of the water. I was just so discouraged by how the swim went. But I made my way to my bike, transitioned, and started my ride knowing at least this would be my strongest part of the race.
The bike 🚴🏼♀️(14.4 miles, 44:19, 19.5 pmh):
The bike went MUCH better. Once I got my breath under control from the swim, I was able to get into a good rhythm and started passing quite a few people. The ride was on a road that I’ve ridden a ton of times, so I was very relaxed on it and felt good. I was pushing it but not going all-out. The ride went by pretty quick since it was 14 miles and went I got to the turnaround point for it, I had some guys from my biking group there volunteering, so hearing them cheer for me definitely gave me an extra push! Heading back was great and I was happy to get back towards transition and getting off my bike went smoothly (for some reason I was afraid I was going to fall getting off my bike haha). The transition to run was quick and soon I was off for the final run!
The run🏃🏼♀️ (3.6 miles(ish I think it was less), 32:57, 10:29 pace):
My legs were tiiiiiiiiired. I ran about a quarter mile before I need my first walk break. My legs were just pooped and it was so hot and my motivation was pretty low. But I kept chugging along and just took walk breaks when I needed to. The run course had a couple out and back portions, and I knew a lot of people doing the race, so it was fun to see people a couple times on the course, it was definitely a nice distraction! It was just really hot for this run and I was really tired. But my spirits were still not completely gone, so the run wasn’t completely miserable. The run ended going down a steep hill so I joked with the lady running next to me that the goal was to not fall down this hill haha getting to the finish line was really great though, I was ready to be done. They had cold towels and ice and I promptly filled my bra with ice haha
To summarize:
I honestly just disappointed with this race. It was a bummer. I knew that the swim wouldn’t go perfect, but I did not expect it to go as bad as it did. And for that to be the first part of the race it kind of set the stage for the rest of it. The bike was great though, I definitely excelled in that. And the run wasn’t terrible, I was just super hot and not very motivated for it. Another good thing is my transitions I thought went very smoothly. I wasn’t trying to go crazy fast, but for my first tri I think they went very smooth. I didn’t fumble over anything and was able to quickly take off/put on what I needed and head out. But the swim just really put a damper on things.
So, what’s next:
After the race Scott and I were both feeling very deflated (his race went very similar to mine, but he had an even rougher swim because he got elbowed and kicked). Right after the race we questioned if we ever wanted to do another one again. But after laying around Saturday and pouting a bit, we both started getting a fire in our bellies. We (at least I think he does too haha) want to train ever more this summer and redeem ourselves from this race. We know we can do better than we did, and I definitely want to. I need to swim even more and put more effort into being more comfortable in open water. I need to work on my brick workouts more too. I want to spend the next couple months working even harder to be even more prepared for the next one. I worked for this one, but I can work harder and I know I can do better. I don’t have a next race picked out yet, but I am eyeing some. Will keep everyone updated!
As always, thanks for following along! I know not all races can go as we hope, and this one was definitely a reminder of that. But now I know I have things to work on and I want to improve even more!
Hello friends!! Last night we had our group ride, but it was our monthly time trial! It’s a 10 mile out and back course and fairly flat. I didn’t really have any expectations going in. I wanted to push it slightly but not go all out - really just see where I think my riding is at right now. We had a fairly strong headwind heading out which was though, but man coming back we had a heavenly tail wind!! I felt strong the entire time, so I was happy! I finished 12/18, so I was pleased with my efforts. I think this gives me a good goal to shoot for on Saturday at the tri! 🚴🏼♀️ And this morning I got up for my last short swim before race day!! I just did 800 yards easy and everything felt good! I’m taking tomorrow as a pre-race rest day so this was officially my last training day. I’m feeling mostly excited for the tri on Saturday. A little nervous about the unknown, but I’m sure it’ll be fun overall 😃 Happy Friday eve!!!

Couldn’t decide how I felt about tonight’s group run, so you get two emotions! Haha It was a good run, but it was HOT. The workout was a group run, but at the top of every minute, one of us would stop running for 10 seconds, and then they’d have to sprint to catch back up to the group. Everyone ended up doing that 4 times each. It’s a fun run and a nice way to mix up a group run! We ended up doing 4.1 miles and had a 9:17 average pace. So it was a good workout but I was definitely ready to be done! Glad I went though 🏃🏼♀️ Hope everyone’s week is going good!
