En sus cuencas vacías, la llenura de mi vida se colma de abismo.

Most of us conduct ourselves as ostensibly good people, maybe not exceptionally good, but sufficiently good, plausibly good.  Our thoughts, words, and deeds conform to the socially acceptable moral standards that maintain friendships, propel commerce, and prevent civil disorder.  Meanwhile, we privately pine for and often feel a strange nostalgia for what can only be called, however quaintly, virtue.  The Stoics understand that what we moderns experience as free-floating anxiety, the chronic longing for true intimacy, rootlessness and purposelessness, or an unquenchable sense of loss is really the consequence of our self-exile from virtue and its pursuit.
