Yes, having opposed Conservative plans for surveillance of the bank accounts of benefits claimants, now they're in government Labour's ableist ghouls have decided to put these proposals back on the table.
This would basically mean anyone claiming benefits - disabled people, people in low-paid and insecure employment, pensioners - would be treated as a likely criminal. Our bank accounts would be subject to surveillance. The discriminatory and invasive nature of these proposals should be clear to anyone. Labour's bottom line is, if you're disabled, if you're elderly and in need, if you're poor, you're suspect.
If you're in the UK, please sign and share this petition. If you're not in the UK, please share it anyway for reach. We need to kick up an absolute stink about this so that Starmer's ghouls are forced to back down.

the next time any of you dark academia people go to romanticize historical elitist universities just remember that emerald fennell studied english at oxford and still decided to cast a white man as heathcliff and a person of color to play edgar linton. thats what an oxford education gets you, apparently...
this server deleted my mutual aid post asking for someone to order me a meal or give me money for food (in a designated mutual aid channel, where others had asked for food money before), then proceeded to be classist and ableist as fuck to me in a ticket, accuse me of "taking advantage of people" and "rule breaking" very very vaguely without any proof, and then proceeded to ban me when i asked for proof. this is, obviously, very targeted as fuck and i think it's also worth mentioning a majority of the mod team was white and tme including the two mods who addressed me in said ticket and were rude and classist. the entire thing was handled very unprofessionally and horribly on their end because they obviously had no actual reason to be targeting me and were bullshitting out their asses. reblog for reach, i don't think disability oriented spaces like this should be classist as fuck like this when so many of us struggle w poverty.
more images in rb, i hit tumblrs image limit. no ID because im too drained and want to get the word out but if anyone is able to ID please do and i'll rb that version
anyway in your writing and art feel free to Make Vaugarde Mean. make it violently arophobic and acephobic. make parents have too many children to show off the special new change. make people dodge responsibility because they've changed. make impoverished people shamed for not buying and wearing different clothes. make the change god cruel to various people for no good reason. make them force people to Change. make them responsible for the island disappearing if you want even. in real life france did colonize guadalupe
And if you don't want to, that's okay!!! But it's also okay to make Vaugarde mean. And, it's also okay project onto fanworks. there's nothing less morally good with that. It's important to make and consume media about people completely unlike you but it's also important to make and consume media about people just like you.
just, whatever you do, DON'T make the change god the same as the christian idea of god because they are. Very dissimilar. one of the words in the classic presbyterian description of god is "unchangeable" even. They are day and night different
1: Most people see them as bad things, so people involved with them are bad.
2: Some of them are socially acceptable. Alcohol or cigarettes are socially acceptable, as are Jinx and Hex.
3: When "nice people" are involved with them, it is okay. It's ok for high-class people to drink expensive wine, but it's not ok for working-class people to drink cheap alcohol. It's ok for the marauders to throw hex around, but it's not ok for Snape to invent some curse.
4: They can be useful. We use some drugs as medicine.
5: People who study them don't need to want to use them.
6: They are alluring for people who feel abandoned, want to control things, etc.

reminder that it’s okay to lie about your attendance to an abusive school system
overslept and missed class? say you were sick.
couldn’t make it cuz you were feeling down? say you were sick.
kinda vent-ish under the cut
my mom got mad at us for oversleeping today, saying she got in trouble with the school because i have too many unexcused absences. i don’t get why she doesn’t just lie about it?? especially when she and my sister have the flu right now. sorry that the system punishes me for being human and disabled ig ?? ( i have severe insomnia and other mental illness , it’s not my fault if i sleep in )
note that my mom wasn’t mad mad at me, just frustrated. also with herself, since she also slept in. though i’m not mad at her for that since again she had the flu and deserves her rest. i just wish she wasn’t afraid to cheat the system, they don’t deserve my truth if they’re going to punish me for it.
Could you maybe give us a small snippet of silco's pov during that gala in the latest chapter? If you are comfortable ofc
YESSSSS ANON

The Descent - Chapter 3.5 - Silco's POV
Silco x female reader dark slow burn modern au. Stalker Silco.
<<<Go back to read Chapter One
Warnings: stalking, violence, trauma, threats, fear, panic, romanticized toxic behavior, toxic relationships, power dynamics, manipulation, power games, mental health probably, bad editing (notsorry), evil Silco, dark Silco, cold Silco. He’s not gentle and sweet ya feel?
chapter three point five
The staircase
Silco posts himself patiently at the bottom of the staircase, to intercept, an ambush predator. All with the specific intent to see her reaction. The one he anticipates will shatter through her when she finally sees him, entirely unexpected, standing before her.
He clocks her shiver at the top of the staircase, her eyes darting around for the source. She feels his eyes on her, his presence like a magnetic field, even if she doesn't realise what the feeling is. She is tangled, intertwined in him, tethered on an intangible level. His claws already sunken into her soft flesh.
He waits for the perfect moment to spring the trap, just as they are getting close enough he speaks.
“Ah Finn, so glad you could make it.”
Silco’s voice hits her whole body, forcing her eyes to violently crash on his like an emergency landing.
It’s so painfully complex and deliciously exquisite. Her eyes flash wide through shock, fear, softening into shame, he sees the hurt, he relishes her regret, the spark of hope and then lastly want.
They all flicker across her face, raw and pure, like lightning illuminating truth on a stormy night. Natural, powerful and free.
And it’s his, she lets him see it all. Pure, unfiltered and precious, a gift that he greedily accepts. It nourishes him and he devours it all, every last drop she will give him.
He is her constant witness and he administers that role with dutiful reverence and religious significance. His commitment to her is entirely unquestionable.
And yet… here she is, on Finn's arm. Boldly wearing the Yellow of Finn's Tetrad syndicate. Worse still, she probably doesn’t even know what it means. Probably doesn't know that Finn is an ambitious subordinate in his empire, using her like a puppet, dangling her in front of him just to taunt him. An unrefined and barbaric power play. Effective nonetheless, but not in the way Finn thinks, a lethal miscalculation.
Finn is saying something but Silco doesn’t bother to listen. Finn's ignorant, filthy hands don't deserve to touch her. Silco wants to break every single one of Finn's fingers, slowly.
She shouldn't be here.
“You look” Silco says to her coldly. “Like somebody is trying to make a statement.”
He knows it's not her fault, but he punishes her for it anyway. He warned her what he was, and she still let herself be used against him, intentional or not. He had hoped she'd be smarter than this, but his disappointment is tempered by the thought of all the hard earned lessons still to come.
So beautiful. The hurt, the rippling anguish that rises briefly before she stifles it. Her pain is such an elegant consequence.
“The ball is beautiful” she says. Meaningless, but an attempt nonetheless and more importantly, she didn’t crumble. He feels a lick of pride for her but won't show it. Maintaining his expression; ice cold and neutral.
“No need to flatter the host; This man already has it all” Finn's words worm under Silco’s skin, who now cuts a sharp warning glance at Finn, looking at him for the first time.
“Almost” Silco makes sure Finn feels that one word land, like a poisoned blade. Loaded and dripping with thinly veiled contempt. It’s more than a threat, more certain, it’s a promise.
Finn doesn’t know it yet, but he’s living on borrowed time.
“Thanks for the entertainment.” Finn says with unwarranted smugness before turning away, thinking himself triumphant and tugging her arm gently. Silco makes a mental note that it’s Finn's right hand, tucking that little fact neatly away for a later date.
She lets Finn whisk her away and Silco allows it to happen. Let tonight be a valuable learning opportunity about the reality of his world. He can be patient, he reminds himself. Everything will come together soon enough. He watches her back as she is led away, looking like an obedient dog on a yellow leash. The sight grates on him, more than he cares to admit.
Then, she does something unexpected.
She looks back over her shoulder at him, and it grips his heart like a vice. Those eyes lit with something raw and confused and so painfully, achingly real. Something between longing and regret and the truth of it shatters something deep within in him.
His conviction so certain just seconds ago almost falters and internally he has to fight tooth and claw to maintain his composure, his unaffected demeanour.
Her eyes fall from his catching on the scarlet silk ribbon pinned to his lapel and they widen in recognition, her eyebrows rise, her lips parting slightly as if her breath has stilled.
Her gift.
The part of herself she gave to him, and he never gave back. A token of his claim and he wears it like a trophy, pinned to his heart because he accepts it. He accepts her, all of her, entirely, completely. As far as he is concerned, she's already his and this sacred exchange is an intimate, whispered confession.
He loses sight of her as she disappears, swallowed by the crowd he momentarily had forgotten surrounded them.
He lingers a moment, in the sunset of her exit, before he turns away.
