Falling before the finish line doesn’t mean you have to stop running. Put in the effort even if you didn’t do something right. You haven’t reached your goal yet.

to quit procrastinating i'm gonna live blog my research for my finals. you can block the "study sesh" tag if you don't want it on your dash. we're reading Democratic Confederalism by Abdullah Öcalan first.
Mama! A history study sesh behind you!
Okay so I took my final spanish lit. exam and I think I did pretty good! I’m so glad I can just throw out all those papers I used to revise :p although I admit it’s kind of bittersweet since I’ve been preparing for this exam since my first year of high school. (It’s like finishing a really good show).
Anyway, I still have to revise for my history exam. I’m missing some chapters and my classmates as well, and this is such an important exam it’s kind of stressing me out. This evening I’ll do my best to try to learn all the material I have. As for tomorrow, I’ll study the whole day but I’ll try do some research on the internet to find the chapters I’m missing.
My goal is to enjoy studying history despite stress eating me up!
Xoxo, lilyborngood!
French in Action Lesson 1
Grammar: Circumflex sincope - reblogged post explaining it
Pronunciation: French stresses all syllables more equally than in English
Vocab suffix transfer*:
English words ending in y >> French words ending in -é and -ie (e.g. cité, éternité, bébé, biologie, calorie, envie) -ous >> -eux (e.g. spacieux, envieux, cérémonieux, curieux, dangereux) -ar/-iar/-er >> -ier (e.g. familier, particulier, papier) no e >> -e (e.g. soupe, classe, adresse, Arabe, architecte, artiste, cabine, calme, carrotte, crabe) -ial >> -iel (e.g. artificiel, partiel) -ack >> -aque (e.g. attaque) -act/-ect >> ait (e.g. abstrait, parfait) -ess >> -ice (e.g. actrice) -ary >> -aire (e.g. anniversaire, ordinaire, culinaire, contraire, élémentaire) -arian >> aire (e.g. autoritaire) -ic >> -ique (e.g. fantastique, exotique) -rete >> -ret (e.g. discret, concret) -ating >> -ant (e.g. fascinant) -er >> -re (e.g. odre, théâtre) -ing >> -ant (e.g. amusant, intéressant) -er >> -eur (e.g. boxeur) -ly >> -ment (e.g. certainement, complètement, essentiellement, évidemment, exactement, finalement, généreusement) -or >> -eur (e.g. conducteur, erreur, couleur, horreur, honneur) -ed >> -é (e.g. décidé, équipé, fixé, forcé)
*keep in mind some words are false cognates, or have approximate meanings. Anniversaire is birthday, not a wedding/dating anniversary.
The other tips are good if you don't have much French exposure, but as I took a couple of years of French, I already have an 'ear' for the language and it's easier for me to learn the written and spoken versions of a word at the same time.
Language Transfer Lesson 4
Inverting word order for [conjugated pouloir/voudoir] with {pronoun} for questions i.e. peux-tu and voux-tu // more formal l'inversion
The door - la porte {easier to learn nouns with gender than in isolation} the hand - la main
Verbs transferred in this lesson: explorer, organizer, confirmer / firmer
root verbs -fermer (to close), -monder (to blanch/clean)
prefixes: re- (again) and con-/com- (with)

Language Transfer Lesson 3
Thing: chose Some: quelque Something: quelque chose (I/you) can/are able to: (je/tu) peux (conjugated pouvoir)
Verbs transferred this lesson: reserver, recommender, commender (in the sense of 'to order'), confirmer
Language Transfer Lesson 2
A little (bit): un peu
Pronunciation note - 'n's shape the preceding vowel but are not pronounced; tu emphasizes the u
English words ending in -ation can be converted to French verbs ending in -er.
Specific verbs used in this lesson: confirmer, celebrer, reserver, inviter, participer, visiter (may use more formal language to be able to transfer existing English verbs)
